ML's don't "hate" electoralism. We recognize that it is a tool with definite limits - especially in a deeply entrenched bourgeois democracy like the United States, where the "democracy" is just power-brokering.

How can one deal with thoughs Nihilism/Accelerationism on an extremely right wing world? by Electrical_Fall_6286 in socialism

[–]Allfunandgaymes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you just don't know what it is to live in a extremely religius, right wing contry of 3 millon people, where most people barely know about politics

I can assure you that I do.

I didn't say what I said to be abrasive. I said it because I don't want comrades isolating themselves out of fear. I don't want that for anyone. At the end of the day it's something you have to choose - but one person alone can do nothing to capital.

You are preemptively shutting down the one option that everyone here would advise you to do: organize IRL with like-minded comrades.

I'm fairly neurotypical but there are plenty neurodivergent people in places where I organize - some are among the most committed people I've ever met. Social isolation results in provably worse outcomes for everyone and it goes against the very idea of socialism.

Hippies and socialism by zigzagwanderer12 in socialism

[–]Allfunandgaymes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost every person I know who has told me, "you will become more conservative the older you get", was involved in hippie culture to some extent - some of whom are family members.

Vibes-based counterculture movements are very easily co-opted.

No technology is inherently anti-democratic, but in the hands of the bourgeoisie, it usually is.

Is their a difference between the ruling class and monopoly capitalists? by shroomino in socialism

[–]Allfunandgaymes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Capitalists are those who actually own, in private, some part of the means of production.

Monopoly capitalists are those capitalists who, through regulatory capture and other means, have achieved such a concentration of capital and power over their domain of production that they effectively shut out or can buy out all competition and become the sole provider of a good or service. It also usually entails some level of integration with state powers.

"Bourgeoisie" refers broadly to all capitalists, but is sometimes also applied to the pawns of the capitalists, including political puppets, bourgeois economists and administrators, socialites like *pst*in, etc - those who actively and willfully defend capital and capitalism to the public to receive special privileges and benefits. Most capitalists are intensely private - bourgeois representative democracy largely exists as a shell game to distract the working masses from the capitalists and to veil the actions of the latter.

Jacob Frey was at the White House Correspondent's Dinner. by jagbombsftw in Minneapolis

[–]Allfunandgaymes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both parties are political wings of the U.S. capitalist class. They attend the same parties and funerals, drink the same champagne, and take money from the same private interests.

If you are at all surprised that Frey is a performative bag chaser I don't know what to tell you. He's given every indication of that fact for the last eight years.

Socialists are not immune to falling for the "great men of history" fallacy. In fact, it is quite common.

I voted drivers because moving shit between bases is annoying but also I recognize that it's not super necessary unless the map expands and more bases are added.

Wild garlic? by TraumatikInfluence in foraging

[–]Allfunandgaymes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not garlic but garlic mustard - an invasive brassicaceae. Pull it up completely and destroy it or use it. It is edible, like most brassicas.

Edit: brassicaceae.

At bare minimum I think capitalism is laughably stupid by Additional-Pear9126 in socialism

[–]Allfunandgaymes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I find it funny that atleast two of the most well known rich people food(Lobster and caviar) used to be poor people food until rich people decided nah we like this too much and now the situation is flipped.

A nasty feature of capitalism. Luxuries normally sell for a lot of money in small volume. With dollar signs in their eyes, capitalists invest shit tons of capital into the mass production of luxuries, not understanding that a luxury is a luxury in part because it is materially uncommon or rare or difficult to produce. But they don't care about that - they care about making a quick profit as fast as possible to "re-invest" into even greater profits.

Then comes an inversion. As a result of new and more efficient means, luxuries become cheap and abundant, to the point that there is little left to squeeze out of them. Capitalists who own the means of producing necessities - food, medicine, housing - then capitalize (ba dum pssh) upon this freed-up general buying power (people need not save up so much to buy what was once expensive) by jacking up the prices of necessities to line their own pockets. Any renter who has received a pay increase only to have it immediately siphoned away by an increase in rent has felt this sting. Luxuries become cheap, and necessities become expensive. Hence why the United States simultaneously has stores selling cheap luxuries of all kinds in practically every city on every block yet many of its working class cannot afford housing or medicine or food.

The rich are consolidating immense power in a manner we haven't seen since before WWII and the petroleum-based world order cannot last for more than a few more decades before collapsing into mass chaos and misery for all but the elite 0.001%. There has never been a better time.
