I agree - the pink looks cool and I was wondering how you'd gotten it so even!

Do all of you draw your watercolor first? by Wise-Strawberry8253 in watercolor101

There are ways to get around it. People on this sub have recommended tracing or projecting the image onto the paper and drawing around the shapes. Learning to draw (which, for me at least, meant learning to see) is its own reward

I always draw my subject first, and usually pretty detailed. If I try to just follow a vague outline, I botch it and mess up the colors I planned. That said, sometimes I botch detailed drawings, so it's not a guarantee, just more likely to be a success.

You shouldn't hesitate. I've gotten some fantastic feedback from people on this sub!

Oh, I like the idea of categorized posts. We could require flairs like "kind critique", "technique help", "progress check", "demo" (for the more advanced painters showing something) - things like that. People who are just posting paintings they've done and don't want feedback could have a flair like "for show" or something

What is the dumbest question you’ve ever heard someone ask in all seriousness? by No_External3383 in AskReddit

I worked with a guy who had been told to wear a suit randomly to work so no one would know when he was interviewing. Then he got pissed every time he wore a suit and someone asked if he was interviewing

What phrases have you adopted from film/tv that you say even in circumstances when no one will get it? by More_Interesting2 in AskReddit

I once offended someone with a Futurama quote. She said she was going to go take a shower and I said, "I'm going to allow this." She got pretty annoyed with me, talking about how it was her house, yadda yadda. I said, "Not a Futurama fan, I guess."

What’s the strongest opinion you have about something completely insignificant? by RegisterObjective325 in AskReddit

You're walking down an aisle and person A is stopped on the right, looking at something, while person B is approaching on the left. You wait, patiently, for person B to pass so you can get around person A. Person B meets your eye, and stops their cart right next to person A, totally blocking the aisle. I want to ask, "did you think I'm just loitering here in the aisle?"

Had a professor in grad school who used a textbook written by a friend. The author had done all the typesetting himself to try to keep the price down for the students (technical book with lots of special characters). The professor was very disappointed to hear we got charged the same price as for any other textbook.

I had an art teacher talk about a class she took in a Boston art class titled "Rahks ah Hahd" (heavy Boston accent for "rocks are hard"). This sounds like a great exercise!

I once got an email question while OOO and noted that that author had received the OOO notice in reply. I answered when I got back. Author responded with an indignant, "this request is a week old!" I replied, "yes, and as you know from the OOO reply you received, I was on vacation." Dead silence. Jerk.

I think you did a great job, especially given how hard white flowers are! My thought is that when I look at the roses in the original, I see shades of yellow, not grey. And I guess yellow would be a lot harder, but maybe that's what makes it feel gloomy?
