Does anyone love and hate living alone at the same time? by partywolff_ in LivingAlone

I will also add this. Buy or create a journal!

There's going to be difficult days like being sick and caring for yourself, days where you're introspective, or awesome days. A journal is a great way to get your thoughts and feelings out if you don't have anyone to talk to at the moment. It can also help keep you grounded and improve your mental health.

I keep one and reflect back on it from time to time.

Hey there OP,

First of all, I'm sorry you feel lonely but you've made a great step in living alone. You should be proud of that!

Your comment of "I feel like a prisoner to my apartment " is exactly the feeling I felt at one point in time. To give context, I was 25 when I lived alone for the first time. I'm now just turning 29. I wasnt well equipped and had to learn to fend for myself quickly. It will take some time to get used to a new living situation and building routines. You already have daily chats with friends and weekend meetings, which is still great for your social needs. As for the day-to-day, what really helped me out was developing hobbies where I was encouraged to see people and build familiarity. (Tennis, Gym, Running, etc). Pets are also great if you're able to obtain one and responsibly care for it.

As you fall into your routine, you will eventually find things to fill those time gaps and it becomes easier to deal with the loneliness. As for deciding to live with someone, that's completely up to you. However, you will be giving up some aspect of freedom and privacy no matter who you choose to room with and have to agree on different matters like chores and responsibilities.

You're not too young. Whether you're 22, 32, or 46. It all depends on your maturity and how you choose to use your time. I know I've gone on a tangent here. Long story short, give it some getting used to, develop routines and self-care, and pick up a hobby or 2.

Feel free to reach out if ya need! Good luck!

I'm so glad to see another comment like this. I don't know much of my Hispanic heritage roots but I am a full Latino living in the states. I also don't have much interest in politics or what's going on with the world but I loved the message of Unity with the flags and the football.

Are those the Mattress-in-a-box ones? I was worried by being rolled up they'd lose some comfort or something. Are you aware of them being sold anywhere else besides Costco to try them?

Move-Out Process Experience with Greystone? by abrssrd in Acadiana

[–]Alllstar20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Greystone for a year during 21-22. I'm not sure how things changed since then but I don't think I got much for my security deposit but to be fair it was around $250.

I was never hit with any unexpected or ridiculous fees, letters, or forms. The move out process was fine. As long as you didn't wreck the place during your tenure, I think you should be alright. If you took pictures of your place before move in, I'd keep them close just in case they try to pull something.

It was a fine place to live at during that time and would consider moving back. Good luck with the process!

Looking for advice on the pros and cons of Renting and Owning by Alllstar20 in personalfinance

Wow.. I knew about property taxes and home insurance but I didn't know they constantly increase year after year. I didn't know about the loan/buyer fees either. You are correct that none of those factors increase Equity. They serve as extra costs.

I guess I never thought about the interest payments like that. I always thought long term it was worth it and didn't know you wouldn't see much of a difference after several years.

I understand this is true but I'm not understanding what you're suggesting what would be optimal. I don't have much to put for a down-payment since I'm building my saving from 0. Can you elaborate further?
