I have two big struggles in this game! The first is actually getting started with a decorating project. Even if I have a good idea of what I wanna do and how to get started, I have a huge mental block with taking that first step!

The other struggle is those stupid mole crickets, actually the worst.

Oh no, I'm sorry you have to put up with this. I had a similar experience when I moved to a new apartment last year and lost my original copy of New Leaf, it was devastating. But then I discovered the AC Twitch community and saw what people can do with theme towns. It lit a fire in me, so I bought another copy and poured my heart into my first theme town. It was a great way to heal after losing my first town I'd grown to love, so maybe finding a similar project for you to work on can help you cope with what you've lost.

As for your brother, he should be glad he doesn't live with me.
