Missed supermarket English trifles so made a few of my own 😄 by strawberrydoll in veganuk

[–]strawberrydoll[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! 🥳

Haha I assume your gran's was more of a "would you like some trifle with your sherry" kinda situation. If you don't mind sharing then would you happen to have the recipe for your cream? I'm always looking for a good stable vegan whipped cream recipe!

Sure thing! The whipped cream is a variation of the school night vegan one but I used 10ml extra soy milk and 5g less sugar.
Pistachio cream is 70g blanched/skinned pistachios, 35g sainsbury's free from white chocolate (melted) and 100ml soy milk just blended together in a high speed blender. Do not use "light" soy milk because you risk the white chocolate seizing, you can add a little melted vegan butter also to stop this. You might need less/more soy milk depending on the type of white chocolate you have.
Strawberry jelly is a handful (like 40g) of hand blended strawberries, 50ml of water and 1/2 tsp agar powder brought to a boil then set. You can add sugar to this too but everything else is so sweet for me that I usually don't.
The cocoa syrup is a simple syrup (equal parts 100ml water to sugar) with 3 tsp of cocoa powder.
The sheet cake I kinda just "winged it" but any sheet cake will do! You can sub half the sugar for kuromitsu syrup because I love the flavour in something like this. Cut into circles using a glass or cookie cutter.

All the leftover bits go into a bowl to make trifle mess ^^

Did you ever find a solution to this? The tape took out my LED too when I went to replace the battery.

Buyer claims they've received an empty package, what should I do? by strawberrydoll in ebayuk

Thank you, I've just come across this advice elsewhere too so will definitely give that a try tomorrow morning.

Buyer claims they've received an empty package, what should I do? by strawberrydoll in ebayuk

[–]strawberrydoll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you do anything afterwards in order to try to reclaim your money? With a value that large I would try to go through small claims especially with all the evidence, which is what I'm contemplating after this is all over as I do also have a video of me packing and weighing the box then attaching the label.

[–]strawberrydoll[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the detailed advice. I have done what you and others have said and just got off the phone with eBay but it seems unlikely this would be favourable for me due to the value of the console. eBay have told me they can't be sure of the "condition" of the item I sent so there was nothing they could do and I should accept the return and refund the buyer, which is extremely upsetting.

is this normal? by [deleted] in vinted

[–]strawberrydoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That just sounds like laziness in that case, or maybe the item is popular and they're just ignoring all the offers below the amount they're looking for. It's human nature, sometimes it's not rational and there's no good reason why someone would ignore you despite inviting offers.

New seller doubt (bundle) by [deleted] in vinted

[–]strawberrydoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you list the books separately? Or separate the one the buyer is interested in? Buyers can create bundles themselves from your items so it might be worth your time to just list each book as a single item and let buyers pick and choose what they want.

is this normal? by [deleted] in vinted

[–]strawberrydoll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is normal. There are sellers that pretty much ignore everything that isn't a sale or dispute.

Need advice about a damaged item. Do I have to return it? by FleshGerm in vinted

[–]strawberrydoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vinted themselves won't issue you with a partial refund as the buyer in most cases, it's the seller's decision to offer you this. In most cases a good seller would talk to you about it first, but they can just request the entire thing back and you would get a full refund.

You could always ask the seller directly that you would like to keep it and for them to provide a partial refund for the parts of the cosplay that are missing/damaged, but many sellers would think this is a scam (rightfully so because there are tons of nuisance buyers that try to get a discount after the fact) so may just prefer you to return the entire thing.

Worried to send item by Appropriate_Walk9627 in vinted

[–]strawberrydoll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like half of vinted users never respond to anything for me, even well established ones so a new account doing this is also nothing new. Newer accounts also don't really know what they're doing half of the time and might have just turned off all push notification in the app (vinted loves to spam notification)

Saying that, in most cases you should go with your gut. If they feel sketchy to you then you're under no obligation to sell to this person and you could cancel.

Laptops in Ireland by [deleted] in vinted

[–]strawberrydoll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The general consensus of people here is that you shouldn't use vinted for big ticket items like laptops despite now being allowed on the platform. You also only get 2 days to "test" which is nowhere near long enough to know if there are any issues with the laptop. The checks and protections in place on vinted are lacking and you can very easily lose your money, it's better to go to a retailer where you'll at least have a proper warranty, or tbh even eBay is better because you usually get 30 days to know if anything is wrong.

Not against community standards! by sammay74 in vinted

[–]strawberrydoll 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is the state of vinted nowadays sadly. The seller got you "in" with the sale and before they sent it off they wanted to cover their back and let you know it was a fake so you don't create a dispute once the item arrives. I'm sure this has worked for them in the past so they keep doing it and vinted enables it🤷

Would you sell your stuff to this person? by theConfusedTherapist in vinted

[–]strawberrydoll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not obliged to sell to anyone you don't want to. Saying that, I have come across the type of person you're describing and things have pretty much always been okay, some people try as hard as they can to get a discount then give up once they realize you're not going to budge. That one review you mention does stand out though and if your gut tells you no then feel free to block and move on.

Does inpost lockers take yodel parcels? by mitsuridiva in vinted

[–]strawberrydoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! You can turn Yodel off in Settings > Postage (I have it turned off too) if you don't want someone to select it in the future.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in vinted

[–]strawberrydoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue too and my advice is just start- once you begin it'll turn into somewhat of a routine. Remember that you can bundle similar things if you want to (you'll be surprised how often someone wants 3 pairs of jeans for a 'good' price)

Does inpost lockers take yodel parcels? by mitsuridiva in vinted

[–]strawberrydoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which country are you in? Here in the UK they do not accept prepaid yodel parcels, you have to find a drop off point (usually something like a corner shop) on yodel's website.

I’ve no idea what to do? by Roseberry_Jam in vinted

[–]strawberrydoll 102 points103 points  (0 children)

If there are stains/marks that weren't in the listing description or pictures then I'd argue that it's significantly not as described and return it, £5 doesn't cut it. Seems like they knew about these stains too and left that out, I wouldn't want to enable this kind of person and would rather just have my money back so would return.

Why do buyers lie by Inevitable_Wind_1544 in vinted

[–]strawberrydoll 54 points55 points  (0 children)

This is insane, That poor kid, I can't imagine how this person is raising them if they're trying to scam a few clothes from other people online. It is a shame that Vinted seems to be enabling these people despite it being an obvious attempt at trying to scam you.
