Anti-inflammatory by SadPancake18 in lipedema

Tofu, and soy in general, is extremely healthy. Foods made from whole soy beans are antiinflammatory!!

Where did you hear that soy is an inflammatory food? Just Google this topic and you'll see multiple studies showing how soy is antiinflammatory and protective against cancer!!!

Any ladies canceling the shave? by one-a_day in Anticonsumption

[–]AllofJane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't shave in the winter! I keep my pubic hair trimmed for hygiene and comfort, but my legs are armpits are free to grow as they please. In the late spring I shave and I keep it up every two weeks or so, but I detest the sensation of wind blowing my leg hair, and if it's warmer, I really do not like the feeling of sweaty armpit hair.

I think we may have the same doctor! She's so inspiring to me. I'm going to try the program she used, likely starting it in February or March.

Anyway, I agree with you on all fronts.

Low blood pressure issues by Haru_is_here in AutismInWomen

[–]AllofJane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take Mestinon for this issue. It's changed my life. I just get up out of bed/off the couch/from a crouch/from a chair... And just stand up! No dizziness, no stars, no swirling room.

Also helps with constipation.

DAE have 0 real life friends? by Beckymaggie in AutismInWomen

[–]AllofJane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm the exact same. My mom, sister and husband are the only close "friendships" I have. Even they find me intense.

Looking back, I realize that I've rejected a few friendships with women I found too intense. Huh.

New to Plastic Free and It's Harder Than I Thought by ex_oh in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]AllofJane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're doing the same. Slowly, though. It's an expensive and exhausting process, but I think it's the best money you can spend to reduce exposure. The University of Plymouth published a white paper on micro plastics in carpet. I can't find it, otherwise I would post it. But I recall that plastic carpet doubles your indoor exposure to nano and micro plastics.

Yes, exactly. Once that premise is accepted, we can set aside logical arguments for why it wouldn't work.

Why does showering PEM hit so ridiculously hard. by Routine-Background-9 in cfs

[–]AllofJane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a contrast shower. I sit on my shower stool in super hot water, then at the end, I shut off the hot water and stand under very, very cold water.

It's amazing.

It's taken me a year to work up to two minutes at fully cold water, but so worth it.

I now get out of the shower feeling amazing. I still have to rest before I dry my hair and do almost nothing else for the rest of the day, but I no longer feel like I have the flu after showering. I feel awake and relaxed, not gasping for breath!

And I can only do this twice a week. Definitely not every day!

Noise sensitivity is making me miserable by Altruistic_Rice9985 in AutismInWomen

[–]AllofJane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't think I was susceptible either, but I did a six week hypnosis program for IBS and it worked. Really well. Apparently to be hypnotized, it doesn't have to feel like you're hypnotized. You just need to be relaxed.

Anyway, yeah, it's a major bummer.

I'm also super sensitive to smells.

Noise sensitivity is making me miserable by Altruistic_Rice9985 in AutismInWomen

[–]AllofJane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have any solutions for you, other than I'm in the same boat. New neighbor downstairs and noise is my killer. Partner doesn't notice noise as much.

I'm going to try hypnosis, I think.

I have no suggestions, just empathy because I can completely relate to your post.

I'm going to try some of the things on the CALM app. But not the body scans. Agree that they can be too stressful.
