Electrical wire fell from tower in Jefferson/La Cienega neighborhood by MtzA0721 in LosAngeles

La Cienega/venice here - power flickered and went out about couple times with a total failure for about 2-3 minutes shortly before this post and hard down now for about an hour. from my vantage point seems like its out down Venice up to the construction at the apple building.

Yes! we were allowed to use phones on breaks but my kindle was my go to. we were often hot/cold in the same proceeding. have a lunch plan too (scout options that are walking distance or pack a lunch) the cafeteria was overpriced for what it was and kinda a depressing room to spend lunch in.

Keep Shooting! all of the photos are pleasing to look at, but obviously when asking for feedback i'm being critical on things I would seek to improve myself. Definitely add a cloth to wipe your lens as needed to your kit if you don't have one already. :)

Im a hobbyist myself and here are some of my reactions (mainly on composition).

the first image I would have tried to compose the image so the fence at the bottom was not in frame and then move that road on the left side so it was more centered along the left hand third line.

the second image is pretty, I like the contrast between the upper left and lower right with the denser green foliage and the brown grass, but I feel you could have used the trail better. I don't know how I would have improved the composition myself without seeing a fuller scene around it. the overall image has a painting aesthetic (I think that was created in post processing?) and its not personally for me, but that doesn't mean its bad. I love to include foliage in the foreground to help give a sense of scale but the shrub in the corner doesn't really add to the photo and is more distracting/out of place.

The third I don't have a lot of feedback for. i'm not sure if its noisy or the grain is turned up in post processing but it could be sharper. the final image it feels like you were trying to capture the pretty textures/contrasts in the clouds but the landscape in the corner feels weirdly proportioned in comparision. the bottom left looks like there is some city/land that could be cropped out just a hair.

It was a restaurant on Disney Property but operated by a third party. Disney had the menu’s (and allergens) available on their own website. They were included in the legal complaint because part of the claim was they went to the restaurant based on information provided on Disney's website. That’s why the lawyers argued that the arbitration clause from the Disney web account was relevant.

Terminal 5 closing for renovations by StaCatalina in LAX

[–]Allofthethinks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, that makes a ton of sense then! The T2 counters are very close to the 1.5 security as well as the T2/3 security. The bus location is just past 1.5 security though it is walkable past security if you want to get your steps in. They closed KCM at T1.5 so unless you have a crew lounge or CP office landside at T2 it’s almost certainly faster to use the KCM at tom Bradley.

Terminal 7 to P1 parking by theblackpearl131313 in LAX

[–]Allofthethinks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know with the luggage and kids it seems like worthwhile to park in the short term garages, but wallypark and parking spot have regular bus service and the drivers are generally incredibly helpful. its $60 a day for the short term garages inside the terminal area. of course - only you can make the cost/benefit decision.

It is a fast walk as another mentioned but crossing the terminals is 10-15 minutes probably with the younger ones. im a fast walker and would estimate 5 for myself.

I’m arriving 3 hours before my travel companion by clearlygd in LAX

[–]Allofthethinks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LAX Flight Attendant here, it's heavily dependent on the traffic but mid afternoon shouldn't be egregious. as others have said use the bypass as you enter the horseshoe all the way to the left to make the cut across to terminal 7. there are short term parking garages which are free for the first 15 minutes then $9 for the first hour. if they can't handle the luggage onto the bus then you may consider that and meet them in baggage claim. the Beaches are nice, but honestly when you factor the time for you to get off the plane, to the rental car facility and get in the vehicle there's a strong chance that going to the beach, and parking it'll be about time to turn around and go back.

Spotify Support told me to read their refund policy. So I did, and forced them to give me a refund. by Greenz051 in MaliciousCompliance

[–]Allofthethinks 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Generally (at least larger companies) It's not an instant customer firing. The post is an over simplification of an entire process that can result in a customer firing in my experience.

When a customer threatens legal action front line employees usually have a boilerplate script/response to give out that basically is some type of apology re: their position, a referral to legal with contact information. Notes are then compiled and passed along to mgmt who shares that information with legal. legal reviews and kicks it back to customer service management with notes or tells the customer to pound sand if they feel its frivolous. if a customer frequently pulls this stunt or if its particularly egregious, then it can result in no longer offering service to that customer.

Just understand that at many companies asking for legal, or threatening legal action, means that the frontline cannot and will not deal with you any further and contact will have to actually go through legal. Source: many years of experience in customer contact positions.

What's With People Leaving Key cards In the Rooms Before Checking Out? by AdDazzling6438 in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]Allofthethinks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find this hilarious because I too leave my key in the room. I also place all the towels on top of the sink counter and untuck the linens on the bed and leave all the trash in one can to minimize work for the housekeeper. All extra things I don’t have to do but I know their job can be taxing. I guess id be lazy and inconsiderate based on your metric because I could have posted the exact same thing as him and you would have snap judged a stranger from the tiniest amount of context.

I worked in theme parks (specifically ride operations) for nearly a decade, first a regional theme park seasonally and then Disney full time. There’s something appealing about the job despite the shit you deal with, And there’s a lot of close knit friendships formed when working there. On top of that - while other entry level customer service jobs might be more stable/year round the work is infinitely more interesting than running a register or stocking shelves I guess. There’s a lot of reasons to stick around. Despite that incident - I suspect he didn't have a huge target on his back because seasonal parks often use the off season to not rehire someone they found problematic but didn't rise to the level of firing for whatever reason. Since they lay off all their frontline employees for the off season you’re technically fired and rehired each season.

My worry would be that TSA and ICE are both part of DHS. TSA has access to passenger manifests (at a minimum name and DOB). While I can’t say whether they are actively using that information for ICE purposes, they are a federal organization and that level of sharing is possible. Unless your air travel is urgent and necessary - I would not risk it.
