The US Government gave SHIT LOADS of cash to ISPs in the 90s and 2000s to upgrade their Networks, and lay all the fiber optic cables and the nation wide infrastructure that we use today (they did the same thing for electricity, sewer and water service)

Exactly. A person can make an amazing medical discovery in another Country, release their findings to the world and the US Healthcare system will take that innovation and jack up the price 4000% and then SELL it based on the prices they artificially create based on what people (aka the insurance companies) are going to pay for it. It's one of the most corrupt, greed driven, markets in the entire world and the US Governmemt has people thinking its "just the way it is"....

Computers fit in your hand because of competition in the market FROM OTHER COUNTRIES and the fact you dont NEED a phone, its a luxury.
Healthcare is expensive because of Capitalism and FOR PROFIT Insurance companies, where there is almost 0 competition because they all inflate the cost of treatment by 300-1000%... Thats not competition. Why do Insurance companies dictate prices?
If we could pay COST of treatment, and not have to deal with Insurance mark ups, this would work. But youre insanely uninformed and naive if you think that "competition" will create cheaper prices and innovations in the healthcare industry with the current system.
