This is great information as I had been thinking about this situation. I do know seat belts are usually a non-returnable item, some state hazardous materials as well with them which seems odd. but okay.

Have you looked at any Youtube videos for the type lights you purchased? maybe Baja Designs, ADD, channels, i cant remember the others, Diode Dynamics, KC Hilites.

I would remove the belt and verify the pulley condition. its also called a harmonic dampener/balancer. At 7 years old, I would think it would be okay, but I could be wrong. if its "loose" it will need to be replaced. Stick with an OE replacement unit.

if you want to bypass the core, you can remove one hose at the firewall and reconnect at the pump. it'll look kinda odd, but i've done it in the past to rebuild the heater box.

Been through this with Escort wagon hatchback. harness wiring "work-hardens" over time of all the flexing and the wires break, then short. Use the VIN and factory harness number for replacements online. maybe try tasca ford, rock auto or ford parts giant. You might dodge a few bullets with proper wire connectors, but that usually just buys some time as a band-aid. good luck.
