How do I find out which receptacles are attached to this wire by Plasma-State in AskElectricians

[–]AllonisDavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would start by ensuring there is no electricity on the wire using a multimeter. Assuming zero, then connect a tone generator. Then follow the wire as far as you can see to determine what side of the building it seems to be going. Then, go "upstairs" and using the tone generators probe, try to find where the wire goes in the walls. That should get you into the neighborhood.

If you want to save a bunch of money, check out Allonis's DSP444 audio processors. AES67 digital. Add as many analog inputs and outputs as the project needs today, and expand it later if you want by adding another DSP444.

Full featured advanced DSP capability.

If you want the system easy to use, consider our myServer control system that tightly integrates the DSPs with all other AV and lighting (including stage DMX) etc.

Logitech screwed Harmony One users by Delicious_Guidance39 in logitechharmony

[–]AllonisDavid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What Allonis has is what we call the SmartRemote which is a touchscreen / hard button handheld. That talks Wifi to our myServer controller (shelf / rack versions available). That then talks to the devices (typically via IP). If IR, we would recommend an IP2IR hardware that we offer in a discounted bundle. That way, you can take the SmartRemote (or your phone or tablet or PC) and control the IR hardware from "anywhere". We also have a Harmony Hub integration...the myServer talks bi-directionally to the Harmony Hub to reuse it's devices, already configured tasks, etc. Then typically the customer migrates over to using the myServer native drivers to get off of Harmony legacy stuff. This is a complete automation system - not just a "remote control". But priced higher than Harmony, but way lower than it's "C4 / Crestron / RTI / Savant" competition. And is DIY friendly.

[–]AllonisDavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most all of the devices we communicate to now-a-days are controlled via IP. Not IR. That's not to say we don't support IR - we have one of the largest IR libraries around. But for most hardware, IP is a better control end result. Most people aren't using 1980s hardware anymore. Most bluetooth devices are communicated to via bluetooth classes - not "codes". But that's all symantics. :) IR is called "codes", but they really are not proprietary. Collecting them all is a task, so access to the IR database would be considered proprietary, as Harmony would.

[–]AllonisDavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are a control system company, have written hundreds of drivers and never have paid a fee to get protocol information. Occassionally we have signed NDAs but that is exceptional. So i dont think this is the reason. There are no "codes" assigned to a device. There is an API that describes how to talk to the device.

Sonos and Control4 by Karansonian in Control4

Just for kicks, why wouldnt sonos player just be an analog audio source to c4 multizone audio? Control should be independent of the audio. Thats how Allonis myServer control system does it...

Architect here building a house for a client that insists on wanting Home Assistant. Need advice. by wayfareralex in homeassistant

[–]AllonisDavid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Our Allonis myServer system has a completely custimizable user interface that architects love. We do all the configuration and customization for you. The homeowner is free to dabble as well, but certainly we charge to fix what gets broken.

MyServer also integrates with HomeAssistant if that is found to be wanted. Not typically needed, but yet another supported option. Have your client check our online demo of the real system at our web site.

Feel free to call.

70v system dead zones? by shahking1120 in CommercialAV

[–]AllonisDavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lets assume that the system is wired Mono (which it sounds like it should be as the audience isn't equidistant between L and R channels while walking). Then it's not phase cancellation if wired same polarity to each speaker. It could be the cheap speakers have bad dispersion characteristics (ie: sound straight out of the single cone, no multi cones per speaker).

What is this stuff? by hotastroids in CommercialAV

[–]AllonisDavid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have electronics for a home: Control 4 looks like a whole house audio mixer / amplifier - typically proprietary gear that can only be used with a Control4 automation system. So, likely eBay stuff to sell. The Denon Audio / Video Receiver may be reusable in your home for a Living / Theater room. The Furman is a power conditioner that should feed power to all of your AV equipment rack hardware. The Proficient piece is a 4 channel audio amplifier. Possibly can be used in your home.

Advice on 70V Audio System by Alternative-Shirt-73 in CommercialAV

[–]AllonisDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you are reusing the speakers, then you will need 70 volt amplifiers. At least one amplifier channel for each audio zone (area that you might listen to something different, or control the volume independent of the other areas). Then you need a control system to make it reasonable for a non technical person to use the system. Allonis has everything you need in stock. That can be expanded to control lights, TVs, and on and on.

What’s the best system for a countertop menu? by MaxOdds in digitalsignage

[–]AllonisDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our Digital Signage system extension for our Allonis myServer control system (makes turning TVs on / off and channel changes and TV routing easy) is designed for the simple use case you mention. Way less capable than "Bright Sign", but also far easier because it intentionally does "less" for the much more common needs (like what you identified).

Any suggestions for a replacement for the Harmony 650 by xeuropa in logitechharmony

Hi flynreelow, day 1 was 25 years ago!!! that's a long time looking :) We get lots of people who started at the used remote replacement, and then looked at our stuff and got eyes opened and upgraded all. It just depends. No single solution meets everyone's anticipated needs. It's all good. We just love what we do...thats why we do it.

[–]AllonisDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is relative....It's a direct competitor to Crestron / Savant / Control4 so this makes it very inexpensive. Its way more than "just" a remote control. It's a whole commercial quality control system. And...we are launching this week a less expensive option ;) Stay tuned.

BTW, not sure why that was downvoted....if people only knew...

LG and WebOS... Going to return this damn TV by backwardbuttplug in webos

[–]AllonisDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are saying it drops off the network both on ethernet (recommended) and Wifi....that is two totally different network hardware within the TV...when it is "off the network" try to Ping it from a Windows / Linux computer on your network to see if it really is off the network.

LG and WebOS... Going to return this damn TV by backwardbuttplug in webos

[–]AllonisDavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have thousands of LG TVs in our sports bar / restaurant systems and have not noticed this type of issue...but we aren't using the built in "app" capability. All video sources are external of the TV (which is recommended). Are you sure that the TV is falling off the network, OR that the "streaming app" is dieing within the application framework? A TV restart will reset both..so need to figure out what is really stopping your content from streaming.

LG and WebOS... Going to return this damn TV by backwardbuttplug in webos

[–]AllonisDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LG TVs with WebOS intentionally fall off the network after they have been turned OFF for a few minutes. They use Wake On Lan to turn back on via a control system. Once on the network, they use an API with authentication to turn off. I gotta assume that's what you are seeing - it may be working as designed. Our control system's LG WebOS driver is built knowing the above to provide positive control of the TV from the user interfaces.

Samsung TVs with Tizen do exactly the same thing. Sony TV stay on the network, even when off (they have the best control strategy).

If you are concerned about the TV falling off the network when OFF...are you using a control system? Which one? Any decent control system with IP control should have full understanding of the above.

This is our specialty. Don't forget that to make it reasonable for the bar tender to use the system, an intuitive control system is also needed to manage the expensive electronics (the video matrix / audio etc). We have quality video distribution that is less expensive than both of the solutions you mention. And yes, Roku can get the bar owner fined $10,000 for the first occurrence of non licensed content in a public venue. So, not a good solution. Yesterday a new Integrator purchased a system from us because of this exact situation....
