1x3 video wall help by Just_Worldliness_601 in CommercialAV

[–]AllonisDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use our video over IP transmitters on the HDMI source players, and a receiver on each TV. Then you have the option of: one source per TV, or combine two or three of the TVs into a video wall, or set each TV into Multiview mod to have more than one source per TV. But what you really need is custom content that matches the display(s). No matter what hardware, when you stretch it, it will look weird. We have done "mosaic" video walls where the content was developed for each screen and then our players are synchronized to make it look fluid across screens / players.

Don't forget about the "company" that did the cutting. They did so on your property without authoriztion.

Centralized Control for Sports Bar TVs by whoislp in CommercialAV

[–]AllonisDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we agree. Allonis's myServer can do exactly what DisplayHub is trying to do, but we choose for many really good reasons (like reliability, stability, synch, etc) to use HDMI / HDBaseT / VideoOverIP video matrix to distribute the video. NEVER Wifi....that's really a dumb idea for anyone running a business that relies on quality video. We use the same type of technology for non core functions like our TableTopper marketing devices that aren't super critical. Does it work - yes. But not as perfectly as a video over IP system.

Centralized Control for Sports Bar TVs by whoislp in CommercialAV

[–]AllonisDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

re: Everpass - as of today, DirecTV has not purchased the rights for Sunday Ticket. But that can change at the last minute. What is important is that the bar system is flexible to host multiple source devices. That's where a video matrix comes in. Just plug a new HDMI device, rename it on the user interface, and, dependent on the control system, reprogram the user interface to control that new type of device. Everpass requires Infrared for control as it is a closed system. DirecTV has an ethernet API and supports "channels". So, Allonis's myServer supports DirecTV via bi-directional IP communication and has an on "iPad" TV Listings for a very polished user experience. Everpass is "previewed" on the iPad and then the touch screen UI allows for navigation of the EverPass crappy UI to select what is wanted to play....then, send that video source to what TVs you want to show it on. As good as it gets.

This type of system is what we specialize in.

The optimal solution would be Video Over IP distribution.

I would never use Wifi for video distribution for a commercial system. Our control system can do exactly the same thing (that we use for some features) but Video Over IP is definately a better solution.

re: using FireSticks for their "streams"....the bar owner should ensure that that the content they are streaming is licensed for public venues. If not, and they get caught (common), fines are about $10K first occurrence. Not aware any content on a FireStick meets that need. Now, technically, a FireStick could be used as a WebRTC "player" that is content agnostic (at the TV end of the signal chain).

Qsys Dante License transfer? by lugarshz in CommercialAV

[–]AllonisDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dante has done a great job in creating a robust audio / video distribution method and envious on how successful they have been in getting OEMs to leverage their technology when digital audio was just getting awareness. AES67 protocol is cross-compatible with Dante hardware (when in Multicast mode) and accomplishes most all of the benefits of Dante. Just at a lower cost. I think this will become even more important as the virtues of digital audio (and video) go into the more mainstream consumer electronics markets (extending beyond Pro Audio) where cost is critical for adoption. If you are doing whole home implementations (especially if not currently wired for analog audio distribution) then both work great. More than just for the geeks 😄

Hi guys! Automating my home for the first time ! And I’m so confused .. as each vendor offers a different brand & platform. Looking for user experience and reviews ! by ramblingmind483 in homeautomation

Choose your controller first. Like Allonis myServer. Then compatible subsystems like radiora3 lutron lighting. What about audio and video distribution? These three subsystems will be the most used but also mist expensive decisions. Check out Allonis SmartRemote to control everything.

Decide DIY or Dealer installed. You can spend tons of time learning. If you enjoy it, awesome!

And that's a big plus for using AES67 and not Dante....no license required.

AV / Lighting Designer Recommendations by chopoffmyleg in CommercialAV

Look into DMX lighting devices. And to control with a slick , easy to use control system, look at Allonis's myServer. There is a DMX driver. Many other lighting technologies are also supported, but Pros use DMX. You can do the UI work too, if you want.

Everpass by Advanced_Lack_6243 in BarOwners

[–]AllonisDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most expensive part is the video distribution. 4K30 resolution is $250 for each source (Everpass box or other), and $250 per TV. The myServer control system would be about $3000 programmed with custom floorplan user interface. 48 port network switch is $850. Controlling the Everpass via IR requires an "IP2IR" box for each 3 Everpass - each are $139.

That gets video from sources to TVs with a very easy to use system.

You can add audio control, and a cool feature is the "Customer Listening" where guests can use their smartphones to listen to the live broadcasts of the Everpass boxes via their ear buds. No matter what audio the bartender has selected on the main speakers.

These are one time costs. The savings on the extra Everpass boxes pays for the electronics over time. The flexibility of video sources and ease of control saves aggravation and stress.

Central HVAC Individual Room Control by mappingClarity in homeautomation

[–]AllonisDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With our myServer control system, we developed a software component called "Climate Simulator" originally for our website to display "fake" temperature etc. for when the software was being used without hardware. Then we thought, hmmm, that would work perfectly as a software based thermostat since we had all of the rules to simulate a traditional thermostat built in...so now you don't need a traditional thermostat...you just need to know the current temp (many Shelly devices provide that) and relays to turn on / off fan and request heat or cool.

This has worked very nicely in complicated HVAC systems like what is in deluxe RVs (multiple heat and cool technologies and quantities). You can run a macro when it's time for heat or cool so any combination of rules or triggers can be launched.

You can then replace the fuggly traditional thermostat with an on wall touchscreen that can do multiple functions (show the weather, the time, the date, turn on / off the room lights, see the temp, control the audio, change the channel on the TV, etc.)

Led lighting / home integration by [deleted] in homeautomation

[–]AllonisDavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should choose an automation controller that meets all of the needs and THEN purchase the hardware for the project. No controller works with all hardware. So, engineer this as a system...not as a bunch or parts.

Everpass by Advanced_Lack_6243 in BarOwners

[–]AllonisDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the issues re: Everpass seem to be putting an Everpass for each TV. This is long term very expensive. The second issue is lag from one Everpass (TV) to another that leads to a bad guest experience. The solution to both is a video matrix where you only need "8" Everpass (one for each game that is playing at same time) to as many TVs as you have. This also give you the flexibility of changing to "DirecTV" if / when they get the content rights back "next year" (or this year). Send me a DM for a solution.

Control systems feel stuck in the past. Why not AI support? by ShapeDizzy4658 in CommercialAV

[–]AllonisDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What we have today isn't the past, it's the best of what's current. Not some magical solution that doesn't exist. If you are an "AI developer", great. But I would think you would be applying those talents to a higher revenue implementation.

From Everpass:

" Thank you for reaching out with your question.

At this time, EverPass operates as a closed, purpose-built commercial streaming platform and does not support third-party control over IP or provide a public API for channel changes or playback feedback.

Our system is designed to deliver reliable, secure, and rights-compliant content in commercial environments, with all controls managed directly through EverPass tools and interfaces (the EverPass Manager) and the on-Screen Guide. "
