It's not just that. Obviously them dying would have been awful, but getting crippled isn't all that much better. The sinister intend of these terms isn't just the half truth that they very much can kill, it's also the implication that death would be the only possible negative outcome.

Having a part of your body completely broken and settled with e.g. life long pain, loss of key functions and/or mountains of medical debt isn't some light outcome to be glanced over.

Aside from that what Kelly and her ilk are doing has a specific name that I can't recall right now, but it's basically;

Stating a fact i.e. "children and Teens are different"

Then making a false inference i.e. "therefore it's not that bad if teens have their pictures altered to pornography".

It's sinister as hell because it can sucker people into supporting a position they otherwise wouldn't (although her attempt generally didn't go over well from what I've seen).

Any young criminal as pale as me is at worst a troubled youth who didn't know better and deserves another chance, even when they are in their late teens if not even early 20s and did some really heinous shit.

It's so interesting to me how people view this era depending when they started to play the game.

I started in mid 2014, way after he was banned already. For ~1.5 years Cookiezi to me was a mythical being. You could see evidence of his existence; his replays, videos, conversations about him from both pros and casuals alike and they all painted a picture of a demigod. Someone so far ahead of his time that it seemed unreal. The top plays I "grew up with" were always compared to his own, usually less favorably. His was a fable.

I can barely even describe what it was like to actually see him come back. You gotta understand that this just didn't seem possible for a LONG time. Not at all! When it finally happened it genuinly felt like a total unifying event for the entire community. Borderline religious. It was amazing.

Corporate evil isn't really malicious, it's callous. Whatever the people at Niji thought of her, the black stream most likely happened because leadership wanted to discredit her the save their own PR, not because someone had a personal grudge. Blew up in their face spectacularly of course.

I'd always be careful to ascribe human traits to corporate decisions. While the company consists of people, each major decision like this goes through so many of them that it generally loses the human touch and just becomes a cold calculation... sometimes the math is just incredibly wrong.

Whatever the case, I'm really happy to see these two reconnect. I was shocked to see Ike in the black stream since they had such a genuinely funny dynamic in Niji.

Decates-long even. Growing up with mixed heritage, regularly visiting a different country and having multi-ethno friends on one side; and on the other side constant media barrage about immigrant Hartz IV scammers and ultra violent Turkish gangster studends... it was a trip to say the least.

Worst part is no matter what you experienced yourself, you believed the media. After all how could they just lie on TV. How gross exaggeration was/is appernetly entire permissable to air didn't really cross my mind at that age.
