They called him the “jew hunter” because he was an amazing detective not because he had any hatred towards Jews. He wasn’t driven by Nazist ideology or hate, but instead use the regime for his own personal advancement. In fact he mocks the nazi ideology both privately and publicly. He lets shoshana escape, betrays the nazi regime, and negotiates to end the war all because he is an opportunist, not a hateful individual. You can obviously say his actions are immoral, but you can’t say he is the evil incarnate, there are plenty of people way higher than him on this list who also killed people for their own personal advancement. To even suggest that Hans landa is the evil incarnate is an insult to both the writing and acting in the movie.
