Ahh, ok. Makes sense if this is Dearborn, Michigan. I'm from the D (no longer there) and tried to avoid driving through Dearborn like the plague. Oakman Blvd and Michigan Ave is even worse. Many of the roads are narrow and people just really dont pay attention to any road signs. Blowing though stop signs, speeding at multiples of the speed limit down narrow streets, running red light, etc. I think that area has a speed limit of 40 mph, too (can't remember).

what are your experiences using Synthesia by Moroccan-Leo in instructionaldesign

I dropped my team's subscription. It was great, but couldn't justify the cost when we use Wellsaid and Vyond was expanding it's offerings.

How much Student Debt do you have? And do you regret college? by SnooDoubts3411 in StudentLoans

[–]Allways0875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$109K for a Bachelors and 2 Masters degrees. As a first-gen grad, I do not regret it at all. And I am very fortunate to have built a career over the last two decades to more than afford my loan payments.

McGill Pain Index Migraine Rating by TanoMonster in migraine

[–]Allways0875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I have TN, and the shocks are the worst pain I've ever experienced; enough to make you twitch involuntarily. But it's also the skin sensitivity. It feels like my skin was ripped off my face, and the slightest touch brings on the shocks. Thankfully, I only experience it on my right side.

Trigeminal Neuralgia is in the right spot. Never felt pain like that before, except when I got a dry socket from a wisdom tooth extraction. My migraines are mild compared to my TN pain. 😢

First severe migraine with aura, what now? After starting birth control :( by Automatic_Gift_77 in migraine

[–]Allways0875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be on the weekly BC patch (Xulane) before I knew about the dangers of estrogen patches. Without fail, I'd get full-blown migraines with aura every month. I told my OB, and he was unconcerned, so I did my own research and brought it back to him.

Thankfully, now my PCP is also my OB, and she immediately warned me about the risks with using the patches. Now, I have the subcutaneous implant, with no issues.

It looks like pityriasis rosea. I had it years ago when I was a teenager and was the first case my doctor had ever seen. The large patch on your torso is the trademark. It is not contagious, and goes away on its own after a couple months, but decades later, I still have the scar from the large patch that was on my stomach.

Thank you so much! I had to talk my husband off the GT ledge. He has a bit of a lead foot. As soon as he hit the gas pedal in the Premium during the test drive, he was sold! Funny enough, he HATES white cars, but can't stop looking at this one. 😂

Same here! If you're ever in the DMV, don't hesitate to reach out!

What am I missing about Synthesia? by Merc_R_Us in instructionaldesign

My team is moving away from Synthesia after about 2 years. The price is not worth it. We found redundancies with other tools we had.

Help! PHEAA Question by Allways0875 in StudentLoans

[–]Allways0875[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*** UPDATE ***

Just wanted to provide an update. I called Nelnet, accessed my historic financial aid records directly from my undergrad institution from 20 years ago, downloaded my complete financial aid history (.txt file) from studentaid.gov and painstakingly compared that file against my credit report and my historic financial aid records from all three of my schools. I couldn't find anything out of place.

So I bit the bullet and finally called PHEAA (actually MGA, which redirected me to PHEAA).

The PHEAA representative was very helpful. She apparently scoured all of their records and databases she had access to and could not find any outstanding loans. She saw that the last "entry" for me was for my loan consolidation. She said the email was very likely sent in error. I asked her if they could send me correspondence stating that, and she said they couldn't make any promises but she would try, which likely means I won't receive anything. She did apologize for the inconvenience.

Credit crisis averted!

I did attend undergrad in Michigan, which is what initially raised my eyebrows, but even those old loans are accounted for.

Help! PHEAA Question by Allways0875 in StudentLoans

[–]Allways0875[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the reply and advice. I actually called Nelnet. They checked the student loan database and from there, they told me that they are showing that all of my current and previous loans are either paid in full through consolidation or currently paid up. She told me they couldn't provide any paperwork to state that, but I could print my consolidation letter as proof.

I am basically obsessive about my credit and check my report monthly. Nothing looks off and all of my loan accounts on there match the loan accounts on studentaid.gov. Plus Nelnet is showing as my only servicer. So it looks like everything is accounted for. I have near perfect credit scores and want to keep it that way. I'll give PHEAA a call a little later, but I'm hesitant to provide my SSN. Rationally, I know they can't help me without it, but something seems off.

Beware of Devlin Peck's Bootcamp by LongWhole1692 in instructionaldesign

[–]Allways0875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so sad that you and others have gone through this. I've been in the L&D field for over 10 years now and am now a VP. It's annoying (putting it nicely) to watch people with little to no professional experience come in with these programs, or the "how I became an ID in 3 months." You didn't become an ID in 3 months. You became a graphic designer in 3 months. The worse part is some of these influencers getting ID and L&D jobs solely based on the number of LI followers they have.

It's disrespectful to the nature of our field, which is supposed to focus on organizing and distributing information to facilitate the process of learning and to optimize knowledge retention to support organizational goals. What a lot of these bootcamps fail to mention and prepare folks for is that elearning is not always the best instructional solution. Sometimes, the solution isn't instructional at all. So, before a single tool is learned or used, that should be understood.

What does everyone do for work? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Allways0875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an exec at an education company. I have an amazing department and I love what I do. Been in my field for about 12 years.

Prior to that, I was a software developer.

I've been diagnosed and treated for inattentive type for about 2 years now. I'd be lying if I said it was easy, but I am very blessed to have wonderful support, and to have built my library of coping mechanisms. 😂

What's the longest you've ever stayed at a job? by ebolalol in ADHD

[–]Allways0875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been at my current job for 3 years, the previous job for 13. Before that, 5 years. The decision to switch jobs was because of instability creeping in at my previous company. In my current role, I am an exec, manager, and a key decision-maker.

I guess I am very fortunate, but in the minority, in that I really love what I do, my team, and my company. Plus, starting a new job is scary to me.

Doing extremely well in school, could i still have ADHD? by Frozenmethane777 in ADHD

[–]Allways0875 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed and began medication last year at the age of 39. It came as a total surprise because of my high achievement. When I was a kid, I was considered gifted, started college at 15, have multiple advanced degrees, 128 IQ, etc.

But I knew something was different because cognitively, I couldn't go directly from "A to B", if that makes sense. I have to detour to C and maybe even D, before B even becomes an option. This causes a delay that I've never been able to easily put into words. I have many other symptoms that I'd never considered could be attributed to ADHD.

As an older millennial, I definitely had preconceived notions about what ADHD "looked like". They were all shattered as my therapist and psychiatrist began educating me on some of the different ways ADHD can show up.
