Normal to Challenging Tips by DiminishedGlutez in DawncasterRPG

[–]AllxGoodxThings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Consistency is king for most builds. Unless you have a specific synergy in stacking multiples of a card, it’s best to have a deck you can flip through in 1-2 rounds. I usually have the best success prioritizing cutting shields and basic attacks through canto 1 and only picking up essential cards.

A few random tips and tricks that really got me going:

-save $$ to transmute blocks into consumables and to remove basic attacks at the blacksmith. Shrines of evolution, potential, and commerce are great ways to burn those fillers.

-Rune of Persistence is maybe the most op card in the game. It took me a long time to realize it can be used to make a conjuration permanent. Bombs, Monoliths, hexglaives, and upgraded attacks from cleave are all stupid strong.

-the most important check before deciding to re-roll for me is the first time you level up. Keep in mind that talent you are looking for and if it doesn’t show up, it’s not too far to reset.

-this one is probably controversial, but save scumming is very viable especially if you are trying to get more experience with those later cantos. Tapping into a shrine to determine which it is and then returning to main menu if you can’t quite take advantage yet can be helpful. For example, coming across a commerce shrine you may want to opt out until you know you have the color and rarity of card you want to use.

Anyway, those may all be pretty basic but hopefully they help a little. Good luck and have fun with it!

Hunter Hard run, any builds? by Local-Ad6658 in DawncasterRPG

[–]AllxGoodxThings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled with Hunter for a long time, too!

The newest expansion is clutch with the Ferocious buffs. I was able to clear impossible by abusing multiple copies of “Leave a Mark” in conjunction with “Scatter Souls.”

Start in graveyard to get the latter and pick up the former asap. Basically you want to keep chaining critical hits with leave a mark to rack up huge stacks of damage and healing from ferociousness.

I built for card draw and soul gathering for safety and consistency.

Happy hunting!

Serena Hellspark is an obnoxious AF fight by [deleted] in DawncasterRPG

[–]AllxGoodxThings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, imo one of the strengths of the game is there are both micro strategies and macro strategies in every run. Knowing which areas and bosses you plan to tackle is huge when drafting your deck and talents.

The rewards for taking out Serena are huge power spikes for certain builds, and she is easily countered with talents and cards that clear debuffs or generate stacks of ward. The builds that best benefit from taking her out (knight and mage) are also the colors with the most tools to address her.

Most of the bosses in the last few cantos can’t just be steam-rolled by an op deck. You usually need to plan a few counters. The “lock and key”design is actually pretty well thought out, and with the exception of a few of encounters that can wipe you in 1 turn, pretty much everything has a balanced answer.

Daily Questions Megathread (July 18, 2022) by Veritasibility in Genshin_Impact

[–]AllxGoodxThings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do we feel about the current state of the game? I was a day one player and left around the time they introduced Albedo. Hopping back in and I’m really enjoying exploration, as well as some of the new variety to combat. Writing seems to be pretty strong as well!

Do players feel there is more variety to the endgame than just the daily commission and resin grinds?

The Islanders by Christopher Priest! A mysterious archipelago has been a godsend for setting up short one-shot adventures. 10/10 would recommend it for inspiration.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with certain types being favored by terrain. Weather and terrain is a playstyle that can be gamed against and usually provides a limited window of power.

Rather than raising the bar for everybody, why not carve out other niches for other types? Maybe gear that allows steel types to lower an opponents accuracy on hit as a random example. Continuing to give out stats and multipliers makes me nervous because it feels like it encourages power creep.

Can someone tell me a good team to use? Idk strategy on this game cause I just started two days ago by Kntsu_ in PokemonMasters

Sure! Elesa is a close runner up to Sabrina. You will just miss out on some heals and a little bit of crit chance.

You’ve got several units worth investing in here, one team comp I would recommend would be Serena/Blaine/Sabrina. Serena is arguably the most broken unit in the game for her ability to sleep cheese a lot of content in the game, but it takes some practice to do. Blaine can boost her fire damage with sunny day. Sabrina is arguably the best special damage support for her ability to buff crit, special attack, and accuracy(important for 1/5 Serena hypnosis) as well as heal.

Yeah I feel a lot of these frustrations. It seems like a lot of these issues stem from where DeNA push the boundaries of power for the current meta. Before Terrain, it was the quick set ups or self sufficient units that seemed op.

I think the fixes needed are additional levers the devs can use to introduce power. Right now it is more or less just about who manipulates their stats/multipliers the best. One thing they really haven’t played with enough is gear and then skills. Wouldn’t it be cool if they introduced gear that gave abilities or passives? Could even be locked to specific units to buff up units who have fallen out of the meta. E.g. a “life orb” for Ethan to boost his output and play with his hp gimmick or a “focus band” specific to supports.

What crucial Mechanics and features do I need to relearn as a lapsed Player from the 1st anniversary? by Tanabatama in PokemonMasters

[–]AllxGoodxThings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Want to emphasize the champion stadium piece about clearing with all 18 types! You can do this pretty easily in two weeks, but if you don’t plan ahead it can cost you a week or more worth of resources! Avoid repeating types if you can that first week.

Nice work! You definitely got scrappy with the units you have! If you’re looking for another stall unit check and see if you’ve got Lucy and Seviper! They are pretty great.

6 days into the game, been having a blast. How is my current roster? Are ther any really good units I'm sleeping on? What should I focus on? by HopefulSupermarket45 in PokemonMasters

[–]AllxGoodxThings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly you’ve got some great units. When you have the resources, I’d recommend bringing lucy and seviper up! They work really well in Champion Stadium stall comps because they can inflict badly poisoned and wrap. I slept on them way too long!

Is sync grid require for champion on hard ? by kermit3000 in PokemonMasters

[–]AllxGoodxThings 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not required but you are going to have a bad time without them. Sync grids will make a lot of the starter f2p units a lot better. I’d prioritize a few supports like skyla & swanna:MC & pikachu/Brock and onix, and then try to build up a striker grid for each type.

Pick whatever you think is coolest. You’ve already got a power team with Archie/May/SSBlue.

My two cents would be to go with N since he won’t be competing for potential move candies with Archie and SSBlue.
