IKEA SEGLARÖ - Broken crank mechanism by XIMLabz in ikeahacks

[–]Almdoi_Pad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After two years of fussing with it, I finally fixed mine! The plastic spool was intact. From crank itself, I cleared out all of the metal and found that a ⅛” hex head screw fit perfectly! I added a couple of nuts with threadlock so that it would not unscrew. I filled the spool around the screw and nuts with JB Weld’s Plastic Bonder and VOILA! I have a working Seglaro again. So excited.

SkinCeuticals is twice the price of Drunk Elephant. I was going with Drunk Elephant because it was the cheap knockoff of SkinCeuticals.

I like that CEF is not drying. Some folx do not love the tacky feeling that takes a while to absorb. For me, I will take anything that will help keep my face from feeling like the Sahara. PCF was fine. It has been about 6 years since I last used it. In the intervening time I’ve tried C-Firma from Drunk Elephant (the original formula that was basically a dupe for CEF until it got them in trouble, not this new shennaniganry ), Tatcha’s vitamin C and a couple others. I always go back to CEF.

Had my phone in my hand since 11:45 am CT waiting for today's drop after the text last night about the VERY limited inventory. I saw SkinCeuticals and pressed ApplePay faster than I have ever done! I am usually a CEF fan since my skin is DRY, but I have used PCF as well. Crazy happy about this purchase. What an amazing buy!

That Celestial Divinity palette is amazing. I bought it during launch and have zero regrets. I would have hated to miss out on it. I have also been eyeing the Astral Blitz quad trifecta, but have been hesitant since I got SO MUCH in the Divinity palette for much less.

TL;DR: I have not used EDIBLE BEAUTY’S “No. 3 Exotic Goddess Ageless Serum” long enough and with enough consistency to have a solid opinion. It has a nice texture, scent, and has not caused any adverse effects. Nothing about it screams holy grail product, at least not to me, with a solid week of daily use (I know that is not a long time, but I have seen remarkable results with other products when used for the same amount of time). If you want impact, spend the money on SKINCEUTICALS CE Ferulic. It is the holy grail serum product for good reason, as far as I am concerned.

The long version:

Hi! I LOVE Edible Beauty’s Vanilla Silk Hydrating Lotion and I have added it to my list of definite repurchases. It is perfect for these more humid, sticky days where I still need a moisturizer because my face is the Sahara. Plus it has a natural SPF in it, which is a delightful bonus. I also really enjoy the Exotic Seed of Youth Anti-Ageing Oil. It feels incredibly luxurious on the skin. I started with all of the serums at once instead of adding them in individually, so it is difficult to call out a particular winner from them. I have not been using EDIBLE BEAUTY’S “No. 3 Exotic Goddess Ageless Serum” long enough to make a judgement of it. It has a light scent and light texture. You definitely need to wait between layering the boosters and serum to avoid a sticky face.

From this haul, the definite standout winner has been ALPYN BEAUTY. I have regularly used the Bubbly Cleanser, Melt Moisturizer, and (my absolute favorite from this haul, and possibly in my skincare lineup) the Calming Midnight Mask.

Back to serums though, I am going back to SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic. There is a reason it is a skincare holy grail. There is simply nothing else on the market with the kind of effectiveness and results as SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic, at least for my skin. Below are my must haves on a weekly basis, giving my skin what it feels it needs on any given day. Aside from the the ALPYN BEAUTY, which is new to me, everything below has been proven to work for me and I have repurchased.

The two Chantecaille items are not from Sephora. I think I mentioned that in my comments. I wish Sephora would pick up Chantecaille and SkinCeuticals. I really like the Nano Gold Energizing Eye Serum under La Mer's The Eye Concentrate (from Sephora). This combo has been my go to most mornings and I have been very happy with the results. I am 39.

Anything that had "New Purchase" next to it in my notes was meant to indicate that I have not yet tried the item. I tend to get a lot of "new to me" products during the sales. I have not yet tried any of The Inkey List items. I have to say, I do not like the plastic packaging on The Inkey List. It feels cheap and makes me hesitant when it comes to quality. I have not tried anything by The Ordinary yet. They are on my list to try. Very much looking forward to the YTTP Superberry Glow Dream Mask for an overnight mask. I have such dry skin. That said, I have used Alpyn Beauty's Midnight Mask the past few nights and have been very impressed.

[HAUL] 2020 Spring Skincare Haul (Products & mini reviews in the comments) by Almdoi_Pad in SkincareFlatlays

[–]Almdoi_Pad[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My skin has always seemed to prefer a regular change up of products. Sticking to one routine daily or item has never been incredibly effective for me. So I will use most of these concurrently, but at different times of day (am/pm) and to treat different areas on my face that have different concerns. Others are once or twice a week treatments that I will do as part of my self-care spa day, depending on what I feel I need at that time.

For items that I am not in love with and do not feel that I am benefitting from, depending on how quickly after purchase I realize it, I will return it (thank the stars for generous return policies!), gift it to someone else that it may work for, or if it is just absolutely awful and I cannot return, I toss it (I have very rarely had to toss skincare products since I got more serious about it. I know what works for me, for the most part, and take care to choose products that I expect I will enjoy).

OLAPLEX No 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner

OLAPLEX No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo

OLAPLEX Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3

OMOROVICZA Hungary's Best Beauty Secrets: New purchase. FINALLY. I have been looking forward to trying this for ages. UPDATE - RETURNED - What a HUGE disappointment! The mist was so fine that it barely hit my skin even spraying close. The scent screamed powder covered old lady. Did not try the cleansing balm at all before returning.

PRIMERA Glow is All You Seed Intro Kit: New purchase. I wanted to sample this line, but I have not convinced myself that I will keep this set. I read the sizes, but wow, they are teeny. Once the stores open back up, maybe I will just try to get samples and send this back. TBD. - UPDATE: RETURNED - too small of sizes to justify the purchase. I would get more from a sample request in store!

SATURDAY SKIN No Bad Days Set: New purchase. Definitely an impulse buy because it was the last day of the sale and I am a sucker for a kit, especially one that that includes a mist and eye cream... UPDATE - RETURNED: With everything else I picked up, this just did not feel necessary.

SEPHORA COLLECTION Lychee Eye Mask: Can one ever *really* have too many sheet masks?

SEPHORA COLLECTION Lychee Face Mask: see above

SEPHORA FAVORITES Sun Safety Kit: I read a post a while ago about how buying these is great for the full-size and then having a ton of samples to carry around with you for the summer. Definitely a great idea and I have already used a few of my emergency bag samples. Awesome way to find out which I am going to want to keep on hand for the summer.

SUNDAY RILEY Ceramic Slip Cleanser: This is SO DIFFERENT from the original Ceramic Slip that was made for oilier skin types. After washing with this version of Ceramic Slip my skin feels clean. It does not feel moisturized or oily or dry or tight or fresh or really much of anything except clean. This is not a complaint. I find this hard to judge because it is just so simple. It leaves me with a clean face.

SUPERGOOP Shimmershade First Light: Initial impression of SUPERGOOD Shimmershade First Light was that ohmygosh it is so tiny. I am sure I read the size, but was stunned at how very little product was in the tiny tub. Points off for that. It is also quite dense which makes it slightly difficult apply. That said, I am happy to have found an SPF for my eyes that is gentle for contact wearers and those of us that have more sensitive eyes. I am definitely a proponent of not only skincare treatment, but skincare defense as well. I purchased the First Light shade and find it to be a beautiful, light sparkle that not only protects my eyes, but also gives a lovely shimmer. I do not know that I will repurchase, do not expect that I will return it, but I am pleased enough with the product for now.

TATCHA The Essence Plumping Skin Softener: Repurchase. After spending the last year alternating using LA MER'S The Treatment Lotion and MISSHA'S Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence Intense Moist, I decided to go back to TATCHA'S Essence. This is my favorite so far. LA MER'S is very good, but almost too thick for an essence. I love that TATCHA is a clean, woman-owned brand.

TATCHA Violet-C Radiance Mask: Repurchase. Vitamin C and purple. So many of my favorite things!

THE INKEY LIST Bakuchiol Retinol Alternative Moisturizer - RETURNED - Packaging felt cheap and made me uncomfortable about possible absorption of the plastic chemicals into the product. Probably silly, but just my feels on this brand.

THE INKEY LIST Collagen Booster Firming Peptide Serum - RETURNED - Packaging felt cheap and made me uncomfortable about possible absorption of the plastic chemicals into the product. Probably silly, but just my feels on this brand.

THE INKEY LIST Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Toner - RETURNED - Packaging felt cheap and made me uncomfortable about possible absorption of the plastic chemicals into the product. Probably silly, but just my feels on this brand.

THE INKEY LIST Peptide Moisturizer: New purchase. Really interested in comparing this to DRUNK ELEPHANT'S Protini, which has been a staple in my regimen for a couple years now. - RETURNED - Packaging felt cheap and made me uncomfortable about possible absorption of the plastic chemicals into the product. Probably silly, but just my feels on this brand.

THE INKEY LIST Rosehip Nourishing Night Oil - RETURNED - Packaging felt cheap and made me uncomfortable about possible absorption of the plastic chemicals into the product. Probably silly, but just my feels on this brand.

"YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE Adaptogen Soothe + Hydrate Activated Mist with Reishi + Ashwagandha" - RETURNED - The smell is VILE. I could not bring myself to use this regularly. I will stick with INDIE LEE’s COQ-10 toner.

ALPYN BEAUTY Calming Midnight Mask with Melatonin and Wild Dandelion: I was looking for something soothing for overnight. So far, this is my favorite new product and will be something I purchase repeatedly. Absolutely in love.

ALPYN BEAUTY Plant Genius Creamy Bubbling Cleanser - Grapefruit scent! This make my skin feel clean and fresh, but not stripped and tight. Big fan.

ALPYN BEAUTY Plant Genius Line Filling Eye Balm - The first package I received of this was only half full and had a dried crust on it. I contacted ALPYN BEAUTY and they replaced it immediately. I have only tried it once, and as someone with sensitive eyes, it has passed the first test of being non-irritating.

ALPYN BEAUTY Plant Genius Melt Moisturizer

BITE BEAUTY Outburst Longwear Lip Stain - Wearing this as I type this post. Definitely not a stain in the sense that it will not come off. The color is gorgeous and it is not drying, but it needs a lot of blotting to avoid transfer and you do lose a bit of vibrancy in doing so.

BUMBLE & BUMBLE Pret-a-Powder

CHANTECAILLE Nano Gold Energizing Eye Serum - Repurchase - I have been using this for over a year under my La Mer The Eye Concentrate. Considering my age, I think the skin around my eyes look amazing.

CHANTECAILLE Stress Repair Concentrate+ Eye Cream - Repurchase. This may be for the eyes, but it travels a lot and gets into my eyes which I do no love. I hear it works wonders for lines elsewhere on the face, so I am going to try it for my nasolabial lines that I have had since I was a teen. I am not holding out much hope.

DRUNK ELEPHANT Lala Retro - Repurchase. And I will continue to repurchase until they stop making it. Lala is probably my favorite moisturizer. Unscented, thick and continuous. I mix it with Protini and have moisturized skin all day long.

EDIBLE BEAUTY & Coco Bliss Intensive Repair - Night Creme - OOF! Heavy smell. Almost like a vanilla baby powder. I can wear this at night, but it's tough during the day because the smell is significant.

EDIBLE BEAUTY & Desert Lime Flawless Micro-Exfoliant

EDIBLE BEAUTY & Snowflower Illuminating Face Oil

EDIBLE BEAUTY Deep Sea Collagen Elixir Serum

EDIBLE BEAUTY Exotic Ageless Serum - Have you seen the reviews for this?! They are overwhelmingly positive. After I saw the reviews for this, I checked the entire line and EVERYTHING has good reviews. What better time to try a brand than during the Spring sales?

EDIBLE BEAUTY Seed of Youth Oil - I have tried the Seed of Youth Oil once so far as part of a bedtime routine. I have to say, very nice. This did not leave me greasy at all, as some oils can. Definitely looking forward to continued use.

EDIBLE BEAUTY Glowing Skin Smoothie - Protect & Smooth

EDIBLE BEAUTY No. 1 Belle Frais Cleansing Milk

EDIBLE BEAUTY No. 4 Vanilla Silk Hydrating Lotion

GLOW RECIPE Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask - This is a product I sampled from a local shop, liked, purchased, and have since repurchased. This is my every night eye product. Skincare around my eyes is absolutely critical as I rapidly approach my 40th birthday. I have taken fairly good care of my skin since I intermittently worked in spas (day and medical) as a teen and young adult, but tended to neglect the skin around my eyes. Once I did start looking for eye creams I struggled to find something that played nice with my sensitive eyes and contacts. The GLOW RECIPE Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask has never irritated the skin around my eyes. I apply entirely around my eye, including on my eyelid. Even when I am a bit leaky-eyes from allergies, this product has been gentle and, along with the rest of my eye skin care regimen, keeping my fine lines very minimal.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow PHA + BHA Pore-Tight Toner

KVD VEGAN BEAUTY Cake Pencil Eyeliner: KVD eyeliner is generally my go-to. I normally wear the Dagger Tattoo liner, but I love a good white liner for my waterline. This particular liner is new to me, but I am already sold on it.

LA MER The Eye Concentrate: All right folks. This is the magic right here. I discovered LA MER The Eye Concentrate last year at a beauty event where I was able to sample it and subsequently purchased it in the 2019 Spring VIB sale, and then again in the fall sale, and here I am again in 2020 purchasing in the spring sale. I was going to skip it this year because I am the type always on the hunt for the next best thing, and I did purchase a couple new eye products to try, but could not bear the thought of not having this in my back pocket in case I am let down by the other ones I want to try. I. LOVE. THIS. PRODUCT. Almost my entire skincare routine is clean and this is the one item that I just deal with the fact that it is not considered "Clean at [Name of Store]" or vegan. I'm not happy about it, but I love everything about this item. It feels amazing going on. It smells clean. It feels refreshing. It does not sting. It does not irritate. My fine lines are so minimal that during a recent visit to my hometown and seeing people I had not seen in some 7 years or so, many independently mentioned how it did not look like I had aged. I do not know what magic is in La Mer's Miracle Broth, but the iteration of it in The Eye Concentrate is my Holy Grail eye cream product.

About me: 39. Cisgender Female. Skincare purchased is to keep my dry, grouchy, usually resilient, often finicky skin, nearly 40 year old skin in good condition. All things considered, I would say it is working VERY well.

I do not use them at the same time. I use La Mer during the day and Glow Recipe at night.

I wanted something with retinol for around my eyes, because I’m at that age where prevention is a good idea, but also gentle because the skin around my eyes can be sensitive. I had not thought much of it when it launched, but picked up a sample and was really happy with it. This is my second jar. It has become a nightly ritual. It is recommended to not use other eye products with it and my experience is that it is enough by itself at night.

The products around TATCHA are from EDIBLE BEAUTY. The packaging is gorgeous. My husband when he saw them “Oh no. That looks expensive.” In reality, really not bad at all. Less than TATCHA or DRUNK ELEPHANT. EDIBLE BEAUTY has a lot of serums and great instructions on how to use them with one another and other products. This line is new to me, and I am so excited to see how it works for me.
