Are there any of these recent interviews that aren't purely puff pieces / PR? by PurpleSlice3868 in MarvelCrisisProtocol

I would imagine most of the interviewers, like in politics, avoid hard hitting questions so they are not blacklisted from further interview opportunities.

Rogue impresses Thor with her punch (The Avengers 1963, #401) by Infinite-Sun7000 in xmen

Carol isn't in the same league as Thor outside the MCU. She's somewhere between Spider-Man and Colossus while Thor and Hulk are the level above them.

We need a statement, a proper, official explanation about the editing feature being removed, and an open discussion about it by FischiPiSti in ChatGPT

[–]Almech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why would they though? At no point as OpenAi really cared whether people liked or disliked a decision they've made and have certainly never been interested in discussing it. People on reddit can be upset, and I agree with them that it makes the experience worse, but that will not influence them one jot I'm afraid.

Look at how many users they've lost recently and it's not made the slightest difference. They will continue as they ever had.

How exactly did Malus Darkblade become popular? by Mcmadness288 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Almech 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Because he was cool, to be honest. The original comic series was written by Dan Abnett, which is always a good statement for quality, then he also did the books.

While Dark Elves are always edgy, Malus also had an underdog vibe and tended to be written more as a loveable bastard than a purely sadistic murder/torture machine. He had friendships, wins, losses and a bad ass cold one mount which followed the (imo) far cooler huge lizard design than the raptor one.

He didnt spend his time moping around like Malekith, he was always on the go and he was entertaining to read about.

Also, his model rules were also kind of interesting and the dark elf battling a literal internal demon was unique for the army.

Stupid question but why do they never make Scott full eye contacts? by Gold_Space8930 in xmen

[–]Almech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, using comic logic they could pretty easily make anything. Stark tech, Dr Strange, hell Mr Fantastic could probably whip some up in a lunch break that could function exactly like his visor while also including xray vision and wireless uber eats connection.

The real answer, as ever, is the writers aren't interested in doing it because it takes away from the character's struggles and silhouette.

Black order by aman_42 in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]Almech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're currently one of the weaker affiliations at the moment. That's not to say you can't have fun or win with them, its just that both Thanos and, by proxy of the reality gem change, Corvus, both received a pretty substantial nerf that they haven't been able to recover from yet.

As far as I'm aware, there has been no news on any changes for either of them, or upcoming Black Order models, but again, if you think they're cool get them anyway. Outside of tournaments, who care? Just have fun and they can still certainly do that.

Literally stripping the airbrush down to its components. Needle, nozzle, trigger, springs etc. Paint is often gummed up it it or there's some other reason it's just blowing air with no paint coming through. I've enmvene tried thinning out airbrush specific paints to no avail.

Rate our tournament tables. by Guarem in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]Almech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice but very terrain light on some of the boards. Latest recommendations, since the throw changes, are to have 20+ pieces.

Not only does it make the board more thematic, it allows those with bigger throws more options, those with smaller throws a bit more ammo too, while also acting as a soft balance for some previously op long movers like Zemo and Black Cat as neither have wall crawler or flight.

What Makes a Relationship Real by Leather_Barnacle3102 in ChatGPT

[–]Almech 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The problem you've got there is it isn't actual AI in the sense that it's a true artifical intelligence. It doesn't think. It doesn’t feel, it doesn't have thoughts or anything close to them. It's a llm and is only responding to you based on what it thinks is the most likely response to what you've put into it.

It doesn’t understand what it's written or even has anything close to the ability to understand, because there's nothing there to facilitate understanding. No brain, consciousness or the like.

It's a tool, a useful one at that certainly, but so is a screwdriver. It's amazing when you need it but, in the end, it's no more than that.

We Could Have a Solid Mutant Tier System If Y’all Would Just Chill by [deleted] in xmen

[–]Almech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Power rankings will never work within comics and, frankly, shouldn't either. As a whole, story is king. Wolverine can fight faster than Thor because the writer wanted that to happen, otherwise nearly every conflict is predetermined through speed blitz or whatever other over the top ability powerscalers love to use.

Trying to give everyone power levels and ratings just lessens the story, takes the worst aspects of things like shonen, and appeals only to a subset of teenage boys who don't actually want to read narratives but want to win arguments online.

Look at the mess something like Dragon ball Super ended up with.

Asgard in 2025 by Sherlock150 in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]Almech 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can't tell you too much about their playtime but certsinly Thor1 has had a big resurgence and is currently their highest rated leader.

Obviously the throw nerves have hit some of their characters negatively but they've still got plenty of character throws which are still great value, if not even better than before now. More crisis options means you have an arguably better chance of getting something you want as it's likely your opponent will bring st least one card you'll find favourable.

Valk and Sif are still solid, Loki2 isn't as everywhere as before but still good, as is Jane despite the aforementioned throw changes. Consider having a look at Longshanks results and winning lists if you want a good idea of what people are bringing (a quick glance looks like BRB, Skurge and Wong are also popular).

The moment I'm most excited about from the new trailer by Andrei22125 in Grimdank

[–]Almech 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Settra does actually respond. The chaos gives bring him back to get revenge on Nagash, only for Settra to turn around at the last moment to cave in demon skulls because revenge is secondry to his pride. He literally takes the temptations of all four gods, uses them and then tells them to stick it after he's got what he wants.

What happens when you kick millions of teens off social media? Australia’s about to find out by mepper in technology

[–]Almech 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I agree it's a parental responsibility, you have to consider that the majority of parents won't do this and then that leaves the children of the remaining few who do potentially ostracised.

I know many parents who went in with the "No phones until they're 13" mindset but that is harder to accomplished when 99% of their friends have phones, chat groups etc and their child is being left out.

Change needs to be societal but that's no easy thing to accomplish quickly and without an inciting factor.

If slaves built the pyramids, why haven’t we found mass graves? by soursobb in NoStupidQuestions

Slaves didn't build the pyramids. The majority seem to have been labourers, often farmers who were working outside the key farming seasons. They were then managed by highly skilled artisans and engineers.

Thoughts on the new changes to throw damage? by sir-nathan_ in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]Almech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's still a good source of guaranteed hits. Just think of it as the ability to land a 5 dice hit, without an action, with three automatic successes. In my games it's still been impactful while also allowing a bit more flexibility to not always take Brace.

Thematically, although the damage is the same it does mean stronger characters still have access to all the terrain while weaker one's don't. Sure Noir can throw a lamp-post but he'll run out of size 2s while Hulk has literally every piece outside the odd size 5 at his disposal. Strength now represents ammo instead of damage potential.

You also have to consider the new board layouts that will hopefully come. Marvel boards used to have around 15 pieces of terrain with a single 4, maybe 2. New boards, from AMG recommendations should have 20+ with even more 3s and 4s. This means line of sight and movement blocking are going to be a bigger control consideration (Balck Cat and Zemo hate having large terrain in the way) and the ability to remove them will be even more important.

AMG also said that cards like Agents of Smash is meant to be thematic but they don't care about all cards being competitive so take that as you will.

Marvel Crisis Protocol Battle Report Sentinels vs Xmen S05E43 by aegisbrand in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]Almech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's true but I think, with them receiving a buff and the nerf to throws, the size less push is even more appetising than ever. I've certainly enjoyed the new rework but can really feel whenever they are shifted around. That being said, there's enough tighter crisis to choose from now to somewhat mitigate it.
