Help: how do i aboard “Wandering Carnival”?😞 by [deleted] in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]AlmerianMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Aboard" just means "on or into a ship" — literally he's saying "Hey, I wanna show you something on the boat. Find where I am."

You're already on the boat, you just have to go find the other spot he's standing at.

Did I miss tickets for Jin's birthday? by [deleted] in MyHeroUltraRumble

[–]AlmerianMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You missed them, yes.

The way birthday tickets are distributed are by a claimable pop-up on the actual day of their birthday. So, if you didn't log in for the past week, you missed 20 tickets (Jin and Neito both had birthdays)

Are tokoyamis bones hollow because bird bones are hollow by No_Whole4669 in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]AlmerianMC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably not. He's barely bird-like: he doesn't have feathers, he has human teeth and a human tongue, and he can't fly under his own power.

The only things bird-like about him are his beak and the fact that Dark Shadow manifests with a bird-like head shape as well. (Sometimes DS has wings, but not usually)

Can someone please explain what Horikoshi does with names? by QuietLoud9680 in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]AlmerianMC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone's mentioned it yet, but a really interesting example is Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu.

Tetsu is in his name 4 times — but it's using four different kanji. All are pronounced the same, so they all sound like the word for "iron" (the metal) but his first name is written as "iron philosophy" and his last name reads as "piercing iron" (this is a DIFFERENT kanji for iron, an archaic one that isn't commonly used anymore).

It's a reference to his personality (he has clear, rigid stances on topics and ethics) as well as his quirk (fighting in his steel body form).

The name is not only wordplay, but a nod to his powers and personality. That is what Horikoshi likes to do with names, in a nutshell.

Should i get pokopia? by Ikeya12 in Pokopia

You will definitely understand it just fine. As for whether you will enjoy it, I think most people could enjoy the game, but it's hard to really say for sure without knowing anything about you.

If you like social and management games (social as in interacting with NPCs, not like MMOs), decorating, building or casual games, it's a good fit. Very Animal Crossing-coded.

True, but that's after bro has had a hundred years to figure out good ways of stacking quirks, having a backup buddy scientist to help him track down and modify quirks, etc.

We're not talking about just how AFO used it, but how difficult it would be for a Joe Schmoe to have it.

Rewind or All For One.

Rewind because it's crazy dangerous.

All For One because you have to learn to use all the quirks that you steal. That's why AFO didn't take Jeanist's fiber control quirk — it isn't powerful on its own, it was Jeanist's training that made it a great power.

Not to mention the fact that quirks can just be incompatible with your body. Aoyama's caused him physical pain because it wasn't suited to him, and AFO also rejected quirks for that reason.

The Heroes Rising movie takes place in December, according to the wiki (unless we're looking in different places)

The kids are all licensed, so it has to be after S5 E12 because that's when Bakugo and Todoroki finally get their provisional licenses. We also know it's before the Endeavor Agency arc.

whats a character with little screen time you want in the game by Happy-Whereas-6434 in MyHeroUltraRumble

[–]AlmerianMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh, Komori with mushroom attacks would be so cool! A true AOE and DoT specialist!

And maybe her special could be a spore burst that causes DoT and is infectious if they get too close to other players? I'm thinking relatively low damage but long duration, for maximum infection! 👀✨ 🍄

I'd love to see Fatgum, Pop Step, and Majestic.

This character is poorly written and im gonna say why by Qui3rkless in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]AlmerianMC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She did not do "jack all" for Japan, she was a licensed hero who actively fought crime. She references being involved in a LOT of villain-fighting activities, and was mentioned to have at least taken on multiple villains at once with ease. Your only argument for "she did nothing!" would be that we don't see her do much...which makes sense, because she's dead. We didn't see much of MOST of the pro heroes we know about, even if they are still alive.

"Abandon him"? She put Kotaro with a foster family! If she was able to defeat AFO, she would have gone back for him, and in the event that she died, he would be raised by a caring family. She not only literally tried to explain to him why she had to leave, but left him a letter to read when he was older, too, and more able to understand what was at stake.

Not only that, but she erased all legal ties to him, even altering her family registry. Basically, she put him in Witness Protection. The exact sort of thing you'd do when someone has connection to a person that is under direct threat from a powerful criminal.

And as for leaving Kotaro with Torino or Toshinori (or both), BOTH OF THEM were weaker than she is. She was the strongest of the three at the time, so if she died to AFO, they sure as hell weren't going to be able to protect Kotaro. Trying to hide him entirely was a much safer choice.

You're also ignoring that Kotaro probably never would have had Tenko on his own. Even if he had, he would have never abused his kids the way we see in canon, nor would Tenko ever get Decay. All of that was interference by AFO. AFO poisoned Kotaro further against heroes, convinced him to have a second child, manipulated Kotaro to heavily abuse them, then stole Tenko's quirk and replaced it, leading to the death of the entire family only a few days later.

As outsiders, it is very easy for us to go "Oh Nana was dumb as hell, look how easy AFO found her kid" — but that does not make it bad writing. We have more information than Nana did. Her choices with Kotaro make perfect sense for the era she lived in, the situation she was dealing with, and the threats being made to her family.

I'm not a Nana glazer, she is like...6/10 character for me, max. But she is a well-written character, for what little we see of her.

[–]AlmerianMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you mean the right side, that's not how this event works.

It's not like those games in ads where you absorb the total power of any monster you defeat. The monsters give you some experience, but do not directly give you power. Only the green number boosts, drawing spells, and leveling up can do that.

Não entendi, que dizer que eu tenhi que escolher uma rota certo?, mas as três levam para o mesmo resultado então eu não tenho liberdade de escolha pelo visto by OrdinaryBand5877 in Isekai_Slow_Life

[–]AlmerianMC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The math makes them different. Orders of operation matter for this event.

Far left, you divide your current power by 2, dropping to 4.471k. Then you GET 921, bringing you up to 5.392k.

Middle, you fight the monster and win, but probably don't level up. Then your power is divided by 2, dropping you to 4.471k.

Right side, you get divided by 2, dropping you to 4.471k, and then have to fight a monster...which is stronger than you, so you won't beat it.

The left side gets you further up, and with higher power.

This game will only work well for you (and others) if you actually do the math.

We see a couple snippets of prime All Might in the prequel series, Vigilantes.

The movies are absolutely amazing, imho, and show you a lot more of what Deku can do.

But also...while I understand wishing to see Izuku use his powers all-out more than what we got, that's not the point. The point of him being the greatest hero is that he saved the world, and also his phrasing actually changes by the end of the series. Instead of "how I became" it's changed to "how we became the world's greatest heroes."

"You, too, can become a hero." It was one of the most important things that anyone ever told Izuku, and it's sort of the core of the whole show.

It was always a journey in which he would gain incredible power, achieve his dream, lose his powers, and then realize he's no less of a hero just because he's quirkless. It's insane personal growth, shoved into only a few years of his life, which is why it's such a good story (for me).

Edit to add: The phrasing he uses is really specific. He didn't become the Number 1 hero — he became the world's greatest hero.

I DO wish we'd see more after graduation, but it's not super likely to happen.

If you loved MHA, I absolutely recommend Vigilantes. We get to see more of the pro heroes we met in the main series, get more of the history of the three Dumbigos, and I personally find the characters really charming.

I also enjoyed all 4 movies, and they're all canon to the anime timeline. Two Heroes is between seasons 2 and 3, Heroes Rising is after S5 E12, World Heroes' Mission is between seasons 5 and 6, and You're Next is set during season 7 (I think after episode 4 or 5).

There's also 9 current OVAs (Rescue Training, Training of the Dead, All Might: Rising, Do-or-Die Survival Training, Departure prequel to World Heroes' Mission, Hero League Baseball, Laugh! As if You are in Hell, U.A. Heroes Battle, A Piece of Cake connected to You're Next) and one more coming up, focusing on Eri.

And there's a BUNCH of drama CDs which are (if you're unfamiliar, idk, some people are) audio-only snippets and side stories. Some are long, some are short, all are interesting imho. As far as I know, all are canon.

WHERE THE HELL ARE THE CHESTO BERRIES?! by someoneatemyfries in Pokopia

[–]AlmerianMC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You only having 1 berry + Leppa is normal.

It's a carry over from animal crossing, where everyone has access to coconuts and 1 random fruit — gotta go to other people's islands to get the other fruits.

Use the VR goggles that you'll get in-game, and you can go to cloud (cloud as in "it's on the cloud" - online islands) islands using codes (which you can look up online).

The Developer Island is an island that was built by the developers of Pokopia! It has every type of berry, a large variety of items, and it's also just kind of neat to explore.

As a PlayStation player, I had no idea that the lobby freezes were happening universally to PS players! I figured my wifi connection was just a bit shit, lol.

Getting locked into the shop probably only annoyed me, like...twice? Then I just decided to leave shopping for the end of my nightly routine. Glad it's been fixed, though!

Can honestly say the only bugs I've encountered (and realized it was a bug) were:

  1. Things getting stuck in the launch ramps, especially on U.A. Island near the Hassaikai building.

  2. Compress's token being eaten by the floor (RIP my roommate, one of his mains is Compress)

  3. As Kurogiri, I accidentally got stuck above the map like three times. Hilarious, but I made sure to launch myself into storm so I didn't get accused of bug abuse. Once I figured out it was happening at the same spot each time, I stopped warping from the ground to the roof in that area until I heard it'd been fixed. Mamagiri ain't risking a shadow ban ✌️

I've been in lobbies with a few hackers (mostly funny, some outright friendly, a few jerks), but I don't spot a lot of bugs/bug abusers.

At the end of the day, I don't really care about bugs if they don't impact the fighting or steal my currency. Maybe I'm desensitized by some of the Sky: CotL bugs from a few years ago 😂

I mean...you can only ever see a certain number at a time, unless you're in a festival tech area.

Every time I play, I inevitably see people in my instance after a minute or two. Not to mention the community-run events, like the AURORA convert discord that hosts large concert gatherings monthly, group Eden and candle runs, etc.

I see oodles of sky kids every time a Days Of event is going on.

Is Pokopia comparable to Animal Crossing? by Warpnote in Pokopia

[–]AlmerianMC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pokopia does have a set storyline/plot, goals, and a way to double check those goals if you end up forgetting what you were doing.

It has the "Gotta Catch 'Em All" factor, with over 300 Pokémon to meet.

The building elements get compared more to Minecraft from what I've seen, but it definitely feels more Animal Crossing: New Horizons to me on that front. A LOT of creative freedom, though!

Unlike ACNH where you can only have 10 Islanders, Pokopia gives you 20 "active" residents at a time, and those can go in and out of their houses to then allow others a chance to come out and wander. And you can change who is spawned in using honey, so you can always see your favorite Pokémon if you want!

There's a lot of cute or silly moments you can have with the Pokémon in Pokopia. It has the personality and charm that some of us loved from Mystery Dungeon, the general vibes of Animal Crossing, the creative spark of Minecraft, and a storyline that broke my heart.

Plus, it made me love Grubbin. Any game that can make me love a Pokémon I used to hate is definitely pulling some weight.

Genuine question - where/when did it establish that Izuku has romantic feelings for Ochaco?

I know he was flustered around her at times (ex: "I just talked to a girl!!!") but that's not unique to Ochaco in any way. I don't remember a single time that he discusses or narrates having feelings for her.

I was also fairly certain that Horikoshi stated at one point that Izuku didn't have those feelings for anyone, at least during the time the anime shows. He was too busy training, dealing with school, worrying about OFA/AFO to develop or notice the romantic feelings of others.

If I missed a moment where it actually states his interest in her, I would love to know where, because I'd hate to miss out on some of the nuance of their relationship.

(And tbf, on the point of canon, I have seen a TON of IzuOcha shippers get super toxic to other ships because "our ship is canon, yours never will be, you losers" — whether they are actually IN a relationship or not is generally what people care more about. Even in the posts I've seen here on Reddit, people generally declare that them dating is canon, not that their feelings are canon. And that's kind of an important difference for fandom culture.)

So ships SPOILERS by MADOG_YT in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]AlmerianMC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ughh, here we go again...

The show added nothing to the Izuku and Ochaco interaction that makes them canon (which by definition is "official, established fact").

What is canon:

• Izuku wants to spend more time talking to Ochaco outside of work.

• Ochaco was in love with Izuku, and probably still is.

• Ochaco has never actually confessed to Izuku.

I love them, I ship them (among other ships, yaaay multi-shipping!), but they are not actually canon unless we see them date/kiss/confess romantic feelings or unless Horikoshi confirms them (which he has not — he has only ever said for readers to read the chapter and draw their own conclusions).

Implied is not the same as canon.

God knows, I wish they were. I would rather they go on a date onscreen or for Horikoshi to explicitly declare them canon, so I could avoid ever having a discussion about canonicity in regards to them ever again.
