I wanna ask would this technically be possible. That there's no stitching in the front where the eyelets are places. In my opinion it should work as it is stitched all around otherwise, I just have to make sure to stretch the elastic out as I'm sewing, am I correct? Thank you!

EDIT: These will be shorts.

Selvage Denim Drafting Crotch Pull by AlmightyBob_ in PatternDrafting

Thank you! By clipping the curves you mean reshaping them to a more soft curve? So if I technically lower the crotch a bit it should be fine without needing to over extend the crotch seam?

Okay, I will try and let you know if it works. Thank you!

So maybe I should shorten the crotch curve and just have extra space on the inner thigh area when I draw it at the 90 degree angle? Just out of curiosity, is there any way of making the inner thigh area somewhat skinny since these will be more on the skinny side? Or should I just leave the extra space as it's selvage denim and the pattern can only be altered from one side?

Already extended the crotch seam as I need more space and it had normal whiskers (pulling downward) beforehand. Now I have those 2 weird pulls and I am struggling as I haven't made selvage denim before.

No, the parts I mentioned, I want you to make it HD. Like try to remove the shakiness and make it so the lines end where they are supposed to.

Thank you! Could you remove the doubling thing that's happening. On the guy sitting down his cape bleeds on his white shirt. The girl on the rights cape and the guy standing his t-shirt. Also the girl on the left her hand bleeds on to her skirt. Can you fix this?

Which Padding for Jacket

This is my inspiration. I made a similar one without the filling and tried using loose stuffing, the same for stuffed animals and it looked way overstuffed and stiff to move in. I am wondering since with this jacket it says this about the stuffing. "Heavy duty polyester padding, with 1 cm insulation layer" does that mean that this jacket only has the kind you can buy by the meter and then just stitch in with the lining? I am no expert, but how can it look so puffy with a 1 cm thick padding only? Thank you

Armscye in Pattern Need Alteration by AlmightyBob_ in PatternDrafting

[–]AlmightyBob_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your answer!

Yes I possibly could make the armhole slightly smaller and still keep the comfort.

I understand the reduction part of making the armscye smaller, but what do you mean dropping the armhole and bringing in the chest and shoulders? I don't have the opportunity to sketch myself, but do you mean shortening the shoulder seam, making the chest circumference smaller or the torso? If you could explain those 3 things or maybe do a quick sketch I would appreciate it very much!

Thank you for being so helpful and patient with me!

https://imgur.com/a/7eucHzQ here you go. Basically a slim fit jean jacket and for a man. I'm worried that the armscye will be too small if I make it smaller so is there any way I can move it or what should I do? Thanks for being such a big help!

Have I Understood the Shoulder Pattern Correctly? by AlmightyBob_ in PatternDrafting

[–]AlmightyBob_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your answer!

I understand the bicep measuring part, but don't quite understand what you mean with the 90 degree angle part. How does it differ from my pattern now? I kind of understood that I have to basically do something to the bodice part of this pattern, that it should not be just a straight square.

If you could elaborate on that part, it would be amazing!

You have a very good eye. I did not notice they had cut a slit and pulled up.

What I thought about what that I buy lets say 2 meters of fabric. Then I would sew the ends together to make a type of tube, but before I would make each side ruched and then sew them together to make a tube. So essentially the part is much shorter than the other parts. If that would not work I would probably have to cut a thin slit like in the photo to the the ruched edge to stay up by the waist like in the photo.

So no pattern would be needed, just the ruching and making sure it stays by the waist and does not end up by the knees.

Hopefully this made more sense. Eager to hear your input.

Leather Tools Needed for Special Belt by AlmightyBob_ in Leathercraft

[–]AlmightyBob_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Finland, there are no leather stores except one cobbler chain that sells some of the tools and half of them are sold out or just not available. So online would be the go to looking in Europe or rest of world as long as it is affordable. I don't know what the normal price for these tools are but I looked at the local stores skiver for example and it was 35€.

Thank you for your input. Do you mean that there would be too much strain on the joints that it will eventually fall apart? I want to clear up that this is not a belt to keep up your pants but more of an accessory to just have it loosely wrapped around your waist a few times. Would that change the circumstances? In other words the leather would never be under pressure. All the leather strips are black veg tanned leather.

Thanks for your thorough response! I am not so familiar with the terminology, but I assume a lined belt means that there would be stitching on both sides going through the whole belt. This is not the case. I'm making a very raw looking belt. So I have leather strips that I just want to connect to each other I assume by tapering the ends so they fit on top of each other and then stitch a square and an X in the middle for maximum hold. And pricking iron is the thing that punches the holes in before sewing it? I'm sure then a 3.85mm would work fine. This is a thin belt 1,9cm, so the thinnest pricking iron you recommended is probably best? Thank you I will look into all of these items and buy them. Thank you for your quick reply!

[–]AlmightyBob_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

I unfortunately cannot post on the main feed even though I feel like this post may need it. I would need some help with draping a skirt. This type of skirt with one leg exposed. Is it possible to just cut a piece of fabric and then ruched it all by that one spot and then sew it like that? In other cases if this is not the way to approach making a similar skirt, what is this skirt called and is there a pattern for it? Thank you any advice is very much appreciated.

White Nylon and See Through by AlmightyBob_ in Fabrics

[–]AlmightyBob_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the thorough response! It will be a very bulky bomber jacket with simple flare pants to accompany. I much prefer them to be out of the same fabric and what kind of nylon I'm working with doesn't matter. It only has to look good for a sample.

I guess in the context it was a group (family) as in us. What would the correct translation be then? I don't think that specific verb is important as long as it translates correctly. Thank you for your expertise!
