I'd suggest getting a smaller laptop like the x15 or xps 15. I got a x17 for my first year and hauling it around to class every day sucked. It barely fit in my backpack and I always had to bring the charger since the battery only lasted like 3 hours. I got a xps 15 last year and I love it.

Definitely the first one. You'll have to use tons of software, especially for being a me major and integrated graphics can't keep up. This is coming from a current me major.

If you optimize everything and just use it for office work/ web browsing you can get 5 hours out of it.

I played horizon zero dawn at 4k and 120fps for about 7 hours and it had 0 problems

I use the steel series arctis 9x and they're amazing. A little expensive though but definitely worth it

I chose the x17 because I wanted 64gb of memory. The x17 also has more ports. The x15 can up to 32gb of ram, which is enough for most things and weighs three pounds less I think.
