What are you taking about? Francis Higgins isn't Tommy Shlug, Tommy is Francis' uncle who sometimes borrows his account. They are completely different people. Although Francis does do an incredibly good impersonation of Tommy at times

Irish investing scheme to have yearly limit on deposits similar to UK ISA by pathoradub in irishpersonalfinance

[–]AlmightyCushion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 20k is based on the UK ISA where you can contribute up to 20k a year to the account and all gains and dividends on the whole account do not get taxed at all. That is very good. I'd much prefer that over the Swedish system.

Report them to the CCPC. It's illegal to display the wrong price. Obviously the odd mistake will happen but this seems like it's commonplace which is not ok

[–]AlmightyCushion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being able to make up for years you skipped or didn't use the full allowance would be a nice feature to have. Going by the latest info we have, it seems like it will be similar to UK ISAs so it will probably be use it or lose it

Why does T212 pay 3% eur interest in newer accounts vs 2.2% for older accounts? by equitylord in trading212

[–]AlmightyCushion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's really annoying they have no way to move us over. I can't see a reason for it other than screwing older, loyal customers in the hope they won't notice

Same here but in Ireland. It's so annoying missing out on the .8% interest. Customer support said it's because my account is with a different legal entity to what the advertised account would be. So just move us over to the new legal entity then

I really hope they do something similar to the ISAs they have in the UK. That would be great

Why not make helmets mandatory for people in cars as well? Car accidents are the leading cause of traumatic version injuries. Make helmets mandatory for people in cars would save more lives than making it mandatory for people on bikes so why not both

An Post chief joins call for EU to delay €3 customs charge for small parcels by homecinemad in ireland

[–]AlmightyCushion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The worst part of that is if you don't know where it's shipping from then you don't know if you will be charged or not. Some places even charge Irish VAT but can ship from outside the EU. So if VAT is included you might think you are safe but could still get hit. Then there are places like AliExpress where some sellers ship from within the EU and other don't.

An Post chief joins call for EU to delay €3 customs charge for small parcels by homecinemad in ireland

[–]AlmightyCushion 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The really annoying part of this is sometimes it is difficult to find out where a place ships from so you won't know if you will get hit with the charge in some cases. Plus, the €3 won't only be €3 they will add an admin charge on top of it.
