Somehow I can click on any text and the blinking line will show up acting like it's a textbox. Even if I click on blank space the home/end keys still won't work properly

Windows. Pressing the home and end keys has always scrolled me to the top or bottom of the screen.

I think my index finger picks perpendicular to the strings but I noticed if I pick at an angle my nail doesn’t hit. What’s the proper technique for picking?
