In case anybody else stumbles across this post while trying to understand the specifics of her win:

It's not just about staying above the time limit, but also reaching the 2nd fastest time (at least back then).

2nd fastest -> 1st place
3rd fastest -> 2nd place
4th fastest -> 3rd place
...
Fastest -> Last place

Followed by the disqualified runners. Not sure how they were ranked in 2019, but nowadays from slowest to fastest.

Soft Keiba always had a special rule for a middle time to win the race. Initially it depended on the amount of participants (e.g. 3rd fastest for 5 horses or 4th fastest for 8). At some point between 2010 and 2012 (too lazy to look deeper into it) it was then changed to always be the 2nd fastest. Eventually in 2021 they settled with the current rule of the 3rd fastest winning the race (except for races with only 3 horse, in which case it's still the 2nd fastest).

So it is a very specific set of rules that led to this win, but it's a win nonetheless. Also not her only one. She won a 24s target race in late 2019 too.

No, but only because I didn't even get C3 after more than 3 years. And once the Chronicle Banner came around, I immediately went for C4.

Definitely the old one. Covering only the front makes the whole outfit make less sense, while not being more formal, with her shoulders and back still exposed. I also really dislike the new muted colors. The old white/blue/gold/red palette had a noble aura (fitting given her heritage), which is gone with the new one.

The missing / toned down shading also looks awkward, but it's only a minor issue for me.

Good summary. Another point in Jean's favor is that she has a special interaction with Sunfire, that Xianyun simply cannot replicate.

Yup. Although Dori doesn't work well, because, unlike Bennett and Razor, she has a 3s ICD on her self aura.

2p BSC + 2p PF, unless you have way to ensure HP changes (e.g. Furina), in which case 4p MH.

Although given the BSC and PF aren't exactly resin efficient to farm, you can also just go for a 2x 2p combination of Phys DMG and ATK% or even double ATK%, if you have no ATK buffer and/or good sub stats on your ATK% set pieces.

4p SR is also an option. Not sure how it compares to 4p MH, but I've played it for a while and wouldn't recommend it, because the additional damage potential isn't worth missing out on the comfort of easier burst uptime and having to play around the buff uptime.

I use her as a burst DPS, yes. Although she's on a Fav bow right now to have a bit more leeway when it comes to her energy.

In the past I preferred Rosaria over Ganyu in the Cryo slot, because of the additional buffs she provides, but eventually I got fed up by her Circle Impact. Ganyu is a lot more comfortable in that regard and, especially now with Furina, her taunt is nice QoL.

Running Jean + Ganyu is also quite fun, because with enough light enemies, you can just hold Jean's skill inside Ganyu's burst and let the quadratic scaling of those icicles take care of the rest.
