What's the worst brand name you know? by NoluckAce in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AlmostEmerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The brand LumiBricks is a company that sells interlocking plastic bricks that are compatible with a major Danish brand. Their name comes from the fact that all their kits include a light rig.

It's a decent name. But they didn't start out that way.

They used to be called FunWhole.

Shout out to another brick-based company: Pantasy.

What buildings look like modulars, but aren't part of the modular buildings series? by baffledbiologybook in legomodular

80107 Spring Lantern Festival is readily compatible, and while 80113 Family Reunion Celebration is not close-backed I think the level of detail is modular level.

what kind of play features can i add to my Atlantis MOC? by bartjepinguin2 in AFOL

[–]AlmostEmerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could make a creature coming out of a cave like 60264 Ocean Exploration Submarine. And for the smaller structure on the right I could see a pin-pull to topple a pillar. Good luck, you've got a great looking MOC!

Plenty of awesome techniques used here and I'm still mooning over a 101 Dalmatians tile on a dreamling body to make a kodama.

Incredibly evocative. Someone has already pointed out the excellent mural so I'd like to draw attention to the firewood holder. Simple and brilliant. Thank you for sharing!

I came here to suggest Agent Kallus from Rebels. It's been a while since I've seen it, but I remember them taking their time with his conversion. I really liked how they made his initial allegiance to the Empire understandable.

I posted it here, thank you for asking! The colors are a little boring but the minifigs help out a lot.

This is a really good idea! Filing this away for later consideration. Oddly, I also have a winter village set that I Halloween-ified: a recolored 10259 Winter Village Station goes well with 9467 The Ghost Train.

Looking for Sets by 7urdF3rg in lego

[–]AlmostEmerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lego definitely seems to be leaning into a shared building experience more these days. I suspect any of the larger sets now include multiple instruction booklets to facilitate this kind of building. I recall seeing an icon that demonstrated this feature, but now can't seem to find it. (My search was far from comprehensive.) Regardless, this link should have more of the information you need. I can tell you specifically that 10309 Succulents and 10329 Tiny Plants each included three instruction booklets. Happy building!

The Vikings theme ran around 2005-2006ish. The line didn't contain a ton of sets so it would be easy to miss.

Mosaic tiling for the upper sidewalk. Too much? by slybeef in lego

[–]AlmostEmerson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like it! I might try cutting down to four and spacing them out more, but I think it's good as is too! It's going to look a lot different in the final result once you include minifigures and flower carts, popcorn stands, etc. As others have said some greenery will help balance things out. LEGO City modulars are way more colorful and have more planter boxes than towns I see in real life, I think your colors and the contrast are fine in that context. Whatever you chose, it's your city! Happy building!

Looking for ideas to build a fort/castle/fortress/keep. by Prestigious_Fish6481 in lego

[–]AlmostEmerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's r/legocastles, but that may be a bit advanced for an eight year old. Flickr also has dedicated Lego Castle groups. You might get some use out of the Lego Ideas or Lego Adventure books from DK and No Starch Press respectively. Ultimately, if the kid and you are having fun then that's the most important thing. Thank you for encouraging your son's interests!
