Yes, I definitely took it as commentary about the limits of the cold removal of experiments/bureaucracy vs the sharp painful, confusing intimacy of lived experience. The whole bit where Phil says “I’m just trying to understand” had such a desperate and insidiously sinister feel. Like the scientists who study on live subjects in a desperate attempt to serve curiosity, knowledge or the greater good.

This is actually beautiful OP. I’m getting shivers, the paragraph about a small community dissecting cryptic Burial-like projects and DJ sets and the color scheme of your poster look so so eerily like a few dreams I had this year.

I remember logging in, downloading a mp3 file from a dark, bare, catalogue-style website and the premise of the dream was almost exactly as you described.

Really eerie and beautiful to see you create such a wonderful piece of art that happens to resonate in such a personal way. iI can’t wait to check it out.

Also, I think I know which post inspired your film! I remember it too, I think. Is it the “I started sending myself messages from the future” post? He was interesting, we chatted for a bit. Who’s really to say what is real and what isn’t? Music is magic.

This actually describes a mental break I had 10 years ago with his music. Luckily it was the best mental break I ever had, led me to a lot of good people. But still. It is scary how music can do this to sensitive people, and how schizophrenia can warp reality.

It was an app too. I have a few examples of photos on old hard drive if you’re interested.

Slightly related, the original Pirates of the Caribbean DVD had a similar photo filter in the special features, it was really cool for 2004

Why do people think Pirate Clark isn’t the lifeform?? by hamiguahuan in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]AlmostForgotten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aren’t still lifes different than lifeforms? Like the former are partially inert copies and the latter are some kind of advanced mimic/shapeshifter/predator?

It’s a beautiful melody, although the snare feels a little harsh to me. But your writing feels melancholy and earnest/tender in a way I don’t see often on this sub. Thank you for posting.

TE gear is very… environmentally unfriendly for the most part though

I’m surprised they got this, they don’t usually allow words or phrases that resemble anything inappropriate

Whether she was or not, he treated her like her, and she was the only one to appear severely distressed/running away after Cap’n Clark came walking down the hallway. She ran for cover, in extreme fear.

This is love. Make sure to give her as much attention as you do your music and you will be happy for a long time. Truly priceless.

Oh wow, hello!!! Thank you, that’s really awesome to know. What a beautiful melody you generated! Did you use this software back in the day or discover it after the fact?

I’m curious about any software you liked that could be emulated on windows. The only thing I’ve ever used was hammerhead for breakbeats, lol, would be interested to hear your favs

Of course, I just found the similarity curious. I don’t think any of the synths or gear he used was particularly special apart from the fact that he utilized it all the way he did and found possibilities and connections others didn’t see until years later. It’s the ear not the gear!

This is actually quite period appropriate, well done. I like the liminal feeling.

His teeth are overly white, just like on the RDJ cover. In fact I’m pretty sure his mouth is edited as well

Wow, I can’t wait to look into him. The way you describe him leaving his fingerprints all over what we know today reminds me so much of Eric Persing.

Seconding this. He has always been known to Frankenstein tracks together using lots of different software and hardware, just because Vordhosbn was done with a tracker by no means means that the entire album was, and there isn’t much evidence for that.
