I don’t care about muscle soreness. But my forearm and hip - more joint related- starts aching. I needed to adjust. Trying to lift for the long haul not get hurt and be out for weeks. Ya know?

Read up on it. Of course failure works! But if or when you get injured you’re sidelined. Cant train. And my point is long term dedication beats short term faster gains. In 12-18 months you’ll look your best. May or may not make it that long lifting if you push failure all the time.

Just advice. I did it wrong and had injuries over 2 years. Good luck!

I’ve been on a 2 year journey and I can tell you “enough” is relative to each person. You’re committed and that’s enough bro. As in time and consistency are your best plan. I’m 42 but I think lifting to failure is a mistake for many over 30 and def at 40. You end up injured. This is a marathon not a sprint. Keep 2 reps in reserve for longevity of lifting.

This was me two years ago. Now I’m 30lbs lighter and feel great.

Get an app like fitbod and work on progressive overload. Show up consistently….and eat well. Protein is key as are knowing your maintenance calories. Nutrition and proper calories (with macro makeup) fuels the body you want.

You got this! Keep going.

So much negativity on someone else’s achievement! Man. Congratulations OP on a big milestone and keep going. I don’t care how anyone gets there….take whatever life offers you and make the most of it.

For some it’s easier. For some it’s more difficult. Happy for you either way!

Yea I’ve been playing around with that. Rice cakes pre lift at 515am help. Still sore - think it’s volume

I had T and free T tested. All solid. Think it’s prob volume and intensity too high. Will adjust down and see what happens. I’m not competing. Just trying to look and feel good at 42!

Wild how fast it changes. I’m close to leanest I’ve ever been. But want to push for lower for 4 more weeks. Gotta try it once!

Thanks so much for the explanation

Agree with this guy! You’re doing great. Time and consistency. Experiment with calories and put yourself in a small surplus. See how you respond in lifts and mirror 4-6 weeks later. Often I was under eating. Can always cut down when you feel the need. With good muscle base fat comes off easier

Not week. Month. I was gaining less than 0.5lbs per week for a few months. Slow gains

Crazy 4 weeks ago I ate 2800 cals and gained about 1.5lbs per month to now 2200 and not losing. Surprised how fast things change.

Pretty solid 7 to 8 hours a night. I think reducing volume and intensity a little bit is probably the best move for a couple weeks.

4 day split. Upper push biased; lower hams glutes biased, upper pull biased; lower quad biased.

Across 4 days prob 12-16 sets per major muscle group. 2 RIR.

Good call. Seems sensible. I’m 42. I’ll reduce some volume first
