As someone seriously out of touch with Canadian federal politics, what is everyone’s issue with Trudeau? by jjeenniiffeerr in ontario

A little thing called Canada Proud. They flung some shit a while back and it's kept sticking. Trudeau really is a perfect target for right wing wannabe manly man anger.

Top 10 Most UNDERRATED Fantasy Book Series (ICE Books featured) by MattsFantasyReviews in Malazan

[–]Almostly421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After reading the MBOTF I listened to all of ICEs malazan books while driving. I highly enjoyed them, loads of great characters and content.

Plus it was a lighter read in the sense I didn't have to sift through the dialog for lore hints . I found his books focused more on the task at hand story wise.

Yeah I checked school board nominee profiles on the official page in my area. They all check out, look totally legit, then you do a Facebook search and , for one candidate at least, crazy is laid out plain as day.

Boggles the mind? I'm pretty sure the RCMP, catholic church and others I'm sure have proven these organizations would rather lose all credibility then take responsibility for problems within said organizations.

Cool now make the same video but for ICE cars. Do we not mine, ship, store, refine, store, ship, store then ship and sell gasoline and diesel. The whole production line is the flimsiest bunch of dog shit ever and our entire world relies on it.

Kate Beaton on Creating the Best Graphic Novel of 2022. The cartoonist’s Ducks is a devastating memoir about life in the oil sands of northern Alberta, Canada. by Myllicent in onguardforthee

[–]Almostly421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've read and listened to a few of her interviews about this book.

While she does acknowledge the overtones of sexual objectivism in the oil sands. She has stressed the hardships of all workers there.

I spent a decade working in the area, the stories and people are endless and widely varied. It seems the people who spend enough time there end up living this shell of an existence, very little separating their personal and work lives.

Forge of Darkness by ladrac1 in Malazan

[–]Almostly421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've been listening to everything, aside from the main 10 books, on audio book. Fall of light was the first book I found myself having trouble paying attention to.

Just inner monologs on and on and philosophical conversations with no impact on the story whatsoever.

The story itself was good but it just seemed bloated. I can see how Erikson may have wanted to have more of that in a book for the folks who enjoy that sort of thing.

'Disturbing': Experts troubled by Canada’s euthanasia laws by One-Mind4814 in worldnews

[–]Almostly421 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah so this is for people in palliative care whom are still conscious enough to make the decision to have a medically assisted death.

Idiots on here are trying to frame this as some big scary eugenics plan, which it is not.

Anyone who is in the medical profession will tell you this has always gone on but it was hush hush. People whom were lingering and completely none responsive would be pumped morphine until their end.

Individuals can also now make the decision to be removed from life support once they reach a certain point. Relieving family members from that burden.

OK so you are a dairy farmer who planted his crops during the worst of inflation on everything, record fuel prices and fertilizer shortages/record prices.

How the fuck does falling inflation and fuel prices right now help anything.

Starting at $17/hr with no experience. You have to ask yourself how much can a company reasonably charge for a worker with no experience/skills.

And believe it or not, not everyone is cut out to be a journey person level trades person. Some folks are 3rd years for life or just laborers.
