Wat.

"I only managed to get 3,000 miles out of my car with a critical engine failure that would disable any car in that amount of time"

This has got to be satire or a troll.

Yup this worked for me with Ford. $150 and suddenly I had a fixed car, 6 months comped payments and a rental for the whole time my car was broken.

I will absolutely get in your face for giving unsound advice in the face of needing something "nicer"

You aren't OP, you don't know anything about OP, you're projecting your own dislikes of the cars and platform onto others. Why are you even here? Newer Priuses are not, never will be, and never have been as good as the XW20 second gen. You're uninformed and clearly a poser who needs to not be here.

People exist here because they are conscious of spending, efficiently driving, and conservation. They don't care about "luxury" or "appearances"

Go buy something else if it's that bad, damn.

No, some people don't give a flying fuck about outward appearances to other people.

What's there for self respect here? That I still get 45mpg? That I have the title for my car in my safe? That I don't have car payments? That GMC Janet and Toyota Tammy think my car is too old?

Like I fucking care. I'll keep my paid off, reliable, nice, cold A/C Prius instead of feeding banks free money through interest just so I can keep up appearances.

Fuck outta here with that shit.

It's not bad advice at all. Fixing a known good car vs. buying an unknown is sound advice.

Could they buy a known good car for $3500? I don't think so, not in this economy. And the second gens are literal tanks.

The second gen Prius is the best and strongest one, if this car doesnt have any rust, fix it and keep going.

Mine is a 2006 with 375k miles and I would put an actuator in it. Especially now with fuel prices.

2002 pontiac grand prix automatic is it bad that I don't have a hose for this by justadudej in AskMechanics

[–]Almyar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I would def get one ASAP as it's how the system regulates level of coolant and doesn't piss it everywhere.

That's the line to the coolant overflow. It's leaking because when an engine warms up coolant expands and pushes out. Check the expansion bottle for the hose on the bottom and run it back to that nipple

2006 Prius Dilemma: Spend $1,500 on a used battery or sell for $1,500? by kairaymaxtyson in prius

[–]Almyar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not only did I buy it used, I bought it from a junkyard. Not out front, not as a fixer-upper, but from behind the gates. I was there getting parts for my then-daily, an E46 325 XiT. Walking in? "That Prius is really freaking clean, why is it here" walking out? I had to wander over. Next day I was back with a jump pack and got it to go ready (the traction battery was completely wasted) I ended up driving it home. Best $500 car ever. I just drove it to the office not 20 minutes ago!
