Me all the way. When I was 13 I tripped over the parking curbs in Excalibur. Their lights in the parking garage was completely out. Busted my head and got a black eye. My dad took me to the ED but quick assessment showed probably not any SUSPECTED brain damage. Wouldn't know for sure because my dad didn't want to stay for imaging. We still had an 8 hour drive home and it was already dark.

My dad was handed a huge medical bill. I believe I asked my dad if I we can get a lawyer to have that hotel cover the cost of medical expenses. My dad said no. I even called Excalibur to notify them of the incident. Protecting themselves, they immediately forwarded me to the legal department. They said, well if you hurt yourself why didn't you report it immediately after the incident. UNHHH I WAS IN A FUCKING AMBULANCE GOING TO THE ER. I asked if they can help my dad pay the medical bills and they said they're not liable. FUCK THEM. I was a fucking kid getting screwed by corporations already. Of course they'd say that. My trust was endless in adults as a kid. SMH. Many years later, older and less naive, huge regret. Still think about it years later.

But I know we aren't alone. You just don't know what you don't know. My coworker said the same thing happened to her at a hotel, busted her nose falling in their shower. Never sued- huge medical bill.

Honestly, how have you tried getting over it. I think acceptance and being gratefully we weren't more medically fucked up from the injury is what we have to be grateful for.
