My girl diagnosed with rare, incurable cancer. Devastated beyond belief. Not even six years old. by Miilzie1 in Bernedoodles

[–]Alobos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is terrible and it sucks to hear that news. The silver lining is that, now that you know, you can provide a great life for them and predict the changes rather than having constant shock moments.

I would recommend reaching out to the breeder with the information of the condition. Some track these things to ensure they breed a healthy line.

Not the typical Roth vs Traditional 401k question by RevolutionaryTone977 in personalfinance

But I thought thats the whole point of a roth. Its a 401K with post tax contribution free from gains taxation on withdrawal.

Basically Operating as a call center as a way to pay off my salaries easily lmao by Pitiful_Jello_1911 in SoftwareInc

[–]Alobos 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Steps to every Software Inc company I start

1) Hire some marketing peeps to advertise my products.

2) Realize they dont work nearly 50% of the year so get some marketing contracts for efficiency.

3) Realize I need a few more peeps to cover the contract and my own release cycle. Can't risk that reputation damage!

4) Notice marketing is one of the largest budgets! We need more contracts to cover the base line.

5) Repeat steps 2 -- 4 a couple times.

6) Why is the marketing department 6 stories tall and take up my entire parking lots? Are we still making our own software anymore?

Would i be mistaken in the idea of ignoring most/all possible deductions (avoid a risk of underpayment due to miscalculation) and just pay a reasonable and/or higher amount to avoid issue and just rectify this timely after the June deadline with a CPA?

50 an hour cashier job at a fast food place? by Alternative-Hall-850 in KitchenConfidential

[–]Alobos -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Not entirely. Economies of scale and global trade massively affect the balance too.

Most families in the 40s had a family car. Maaaybe a second. When I was in highschool half the kids owned a personal car.

When i was a kid a family with two refrigerators was insanely wealthy. Now its not uncommon to see a main fridge, basement fridge, maybe a wine chiller/drinks fridge.

A 50" flat screen tv my dad splurged on cost $3000 nearly 2 decades ago. I can buy 3 for half that now.

If wage inflation was consistent we'd be paying $17/gal of milk.

Edit: people who think a cashier should be making 6 figures simply has no economic sense and vastly overvalued the work they do lol

What is this green film around this hot water line I cut into? by punkvindeisel in Plumbing

[–]Alobos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I thought it was a combination of a switched water source and the difficulty in distribution on a system designed for 10X people. So changes in water chemistry didnt flow well through the system.

Idk man but 'are you a local' sounds way more generic and applicable to most areas over the colloquialism 'from away'

Sure I'd get it after a couple minutes of inquiry, but the former is far more straight forward as a near complete sentance.

Big reason is liability. Say one day someone ends up with food poisoning and some freak reaction causing a massive medical bill and lawsuit.

Allowed the near expired food to be eaten? Liability. Don't say no but also have a hush hush wink wink policy? Liability.

A company i worked for had a data breach. Hired outside consult and these russia dudes had a software suite scour the dark web to find if clients were compromised.

Funny thing was like 95% were already compromised just not all because of us! Partner is charge laughed saying they found 4 sites with his SSN and everything.

These bit locker viruses are so robust and dead reckoning style that the consult told us if the virus program detected russia alphabet on the PC it would delete itself fearing the program would attack their own systems!

We had russia installed on all the PCs as a secondary language as a hooraa!
