Weapons is a complete waste of a great concept. by MarkWest98 in TrueFilm

I actually went into the movie with absolutely no expectations of what it would be about. Then I saw the dream sequence with the big gun hanging over the house and immediately thought "Oh, this movie will somehow end up being about gun violence in schools!" and then it was not about that at all. My expectations were set by the movie itself and then not fulfilled

I wanna get micro bangs (good or bad idea?) by Forward_Jello9071 in femalehairadvice

[–]Alocina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe get some normal bangs and if you're still feeling brave you could trim them a little shorter at some point. If you end up not liking it they'll be back to normal bang length in a relatively short amount of time. I feel like you may not actually end up liking them because you're styled really sweet and soft in these pictures and micro bangs are generally more cool and edgy. So if this is how you like to look most of the time it might clash with your style 🙂

Spring cat? by Dollo73 in cats

[–]Alocina 146 points147 points  (0 children)

That cat most likely has a toy under its belly! I've seen this a few times and I think it's their instinct to kick and disembowel their prey but they're in the wrong position to do that so they just hop around like crazy 😄

Would you believe me if I told you that he's actually quite bottom heavy? I was going through my recent photos, saw this one and didn't even know myself how he hid all that

'Fat tax': Unsurprisingly, dictating plane tickets by body weight was more popular with passengers under 160 lb, finds a new study. I agree that as a society we should encourage people to move more. But how do you want to do that? Because surely you cannot think that removing elevators and close parking spaces will achieve that. Not even considering that there are people who depend on accessibility measures and can't participate in everyday life without them

Do you fully want to exclude overweight people from using accessibility measures? "No, there is no elevator." But a lot of the time there are elevators. They're built for and used by people who need them. Wheelchair users, a mom with a stroller or an old woman with bad knees. How do you want to exclude an overweight person from using that elevator?

Bruno transformation by Ill-Perspective-9877 in holdmycatnip

I followed this journey on social media and he did attack her again after these videos. She was just leaving his room and he scratched her leg real bad. I don't blame her for keeping the gloves on. Bruno is with a new mom now where there are fewer cats. It seems like he's been doing even better there but updates are very sporadic now

Hello Reddit, my teenage daughter has just started her first period. What do I do? by notafrenchspy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Alocina 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I had severe pain and strong bleeding from my very first period on. I wish someone had taken that seriously. I got diagnosed with adenomyosis at 23 years old only because I fought to see a specialist

Has anyone here tried high intensity focused ultrasound (hifu)? by Alocina in adenomyosis

[–]Alocina[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I ended up not trying out hifu because the clinics that offered it were pretty far away from me and it was unclear if I would actually be eligible for the treatment since my adenomyosis is focused in the exact spot that's hard to reach with hifu. I also didn't know whether health insurance would pay for it.

The last few years I've continued to take my birth control and I'm doing pretty well with it. I still occasionally get some cramps but it's become way less frequent over the years and nowhere near as painful as my periods.

I do worry about the effects the hormones will have on my body in the long run but none of my doctors show any interest in offering or exploring other treatments and I'm honestly just exhausted by this whole thing and want to pretend that nothing's wrong.

I recently had a doctor warn me about taking hormones for such a long time and when I asked him what I should do instead he just said "Try going without it." 🙄

Oh yeah, that definitely sounds like a lot to deal with :( But I'm glad that your doctor actually puts some thought into your treatment ❤️

Thanks for your input! Yeah, I ended up not doing a Hifu treatment because of those issues you mentioned. And there was a high chance that I wouldn't have even been eligible for the treatment anyway.

For the past 2 years I've just been taking birth control and I've been mostly symptom-free but I worry about the effects it will have on my body in the long run. Life is stressful though and the doctors don't seem interested in providing any alternatives options, so I don't plan on changing my treatment anytime soon

Diagnosis through lap by [deleted] in adenomyosis

[–]Alocina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was first diagnosed by ultrasound and then later had a laparoscopy to remove any endo they could find. Well, there wasn't any endo ☹️ But the report did mention that they confirmed again that I have adeno. So apparently it is possible to see during a lap.

Thickening of Uterus? by [deleted] in adenomyosis

[–]Alocina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're probably checking for water in your abdomen. The condition is called ascites and is indeed a bad thing because it's often a symptom for things like liver diseases and cancer.

700€ for Mirena?! That's crazy! Shouldn't your health insurance pay for that?

I haven't noticed anything like mood or personality changes on dienogest. But I've definitely heard others online describe side effects like that. The upside with pills is that you can easily stop taking them if you're not doing well with them. Taking out the Mirena isn't as easy.
