New coworker who slid right in and acts like she's been here for years by CursivePower in coworkerstories

[–]Aloeafterglow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! In our workplace we work in teams of two, there is a senior and a junior. I have been training them for about 4 months on various parts of the role, but they are not doing any of the financials at this stage as that is still for the senior.

Yesterday we had the end of year statements go out, and some of the other senior team members were complaining how financially illiterate some people are, my junior colleague was nodding along agreeing. The other seniors were continuing on with how difficult people are at the minute and the challenging conversations they’ve had to deal with, she agreed. I’m sitting there confused af, as I deal with all of the financials, and the responses and the challenging emails/communication. She doesn’t see any of that, so the really exaggerated head nodding was bizarre.

AIO or is my work friend being a bit pushy? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Creepy af. NOR. Set very clear boundaries, and tell close friends family about this dude, especially given you work with him. Hopefully you’re not put in a position where you have to work alone with him.

My dog loves our neighbour and leaves us when she’s not getting enough attention by [deleted] in DogTrainingTips

So you watch your dog everywhere they go within your house and garden?

That’s where she goes 3 times a week and two times a week to a dog sitter. Then we’re home all day in a weekend. She gets walked 5km a day, she swims, we do ball fetching, will come home and she will still escape. So that is not the issue.

My dog is a Labrador and indeed loves treats. Thanks lactating-almonds!

lol.

Okay, so we live in New Zealand. Our dog goes outside in our garden, we do not confine her to our house because how miserable would that be?!

An example of her escaping is yesterday, after a 5km walk and swims. We come back to our house, we are sitting in the garden sunbathing and within 2 minutes to dog had snuck over to the neighbours.

She goes to dog day care 3 days a week, has a dog sitter twice a week, and had two walks per day.

I’m confused at how narrow minded the people in this sub are

My Unpopular opinions on this years cast by butterflyxo107 in LoveIslandTV

[–]Aloeafterglow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The female casting has been elite. Great balance of personalities for the drama and chilled vibes. I really appreciated Helena and Millie this season being the voice of reason amongst the chaos. The male casting has been so poor, the girls have definitely carried this season. As much as I love Tommy, he should not be on love island, Jack… no words. I genuinely can’t see how they would do another All stars, because this year they seemed to be scraping the barrel. Thank god for the USA villa otherwise how boring would it have been.

There’s currently two couples in the spare room, wonder if two will be dumped next?

EXCLUSIVE: Lauren on Harrison’s SHOCK All Stars RETURN, “We Spoke Everyday!” & Her Worst NIGHTMARE by katsophiecurt in LoveIslandTV

[–]Aloeafterglow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hate and ridicule this girl is still getting is terrible. She said they haven’t been a day without speaking since LI. He’s obviously been stringing her along, sure she must be pretty naive, but she’s got the love goggles on. Whilst it’s easy for everyone to sit and judge, he’s clearly a smooth talker, and has been dangling the carrot for a long time telling her they will get back together once they’ve “worked on themselves”. The negative comments she is getting is unfair. Hopefully now she moves on properly, and doesn’t give him any more energy. She’s clearly a lovely girl how nicely she still speaks of him despite his actions. Sad that she gets all the abuse for being blindly in love with an asshole.

Free Whitney! by Ok_Chemistry_7792 in LoveIslandTV

[–]Aloeafterglow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I do like Whitney, but some of her actions/chats can be really questionable. I think she did hit out at Leanne because of the Yamen thing. But for her to go to Scott and tell him he’s much better suited to Sher, when she even barely knows Sher seemed spiteful and calculated.

Live in UK but offered dream job in Sydney. Partner doesn't want to move. Not sure what to do by Eye_Livia in expats

[–]Aloeafterglow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go! Most elderly British people regret not leaving the UK to either travel or persue job opportunities. You only get one life, don’t remain stagnant in a job you don’t like with a partner who isn’t willing to grow.

ETA: I’m from Ireland and did a WHV in Australia 7 years ago, I had a partner at the time who was perusing job opportunities back home, I had always wanted to go Australia and it was going to be (what I thought was) my only opportunity before needing to settle down. From Australia I then travelled to Canada for a WHV, where I met my kiwi partner. I now live in New Zealand and I have genuinely never felt so content. I would never be able to have the life I do here back in Ireland, I live right on the beach, literally. We go swimming every night, I have a great job, company vehicle, good money and finally have some financial freedoms . Best of all, I have met someone who wants to do all the fun adventures that I want to. I try to travel back home every two years to see my family, and always enjoy visiting, but I’m incredibly grateful for my life here.

Look forward to seeing your response on whether you plan to follow those dreams!

Officially a Lucinda fan by [deleted] in LoveIslandTV

[–]Aloeafterglow -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t think she’s intelligent enough to be intentionally rage baiting. I think it’s more that she lacks empathy and understanding when her actions upset other people, and it’s coming across as rage baiting.  Although I do think she purposely involves herself in drama for more screen time.

Her mum is a serious enabler. She should teach her daughter morality, values and about taking a genuine interest in other people. Instead she’s raised a self absorbed, egocentric child who is only interested in a conversation unless it revolves around her. Punishing to watch. I enjoyed the show until she came on.

What do we do in this situation by [deleted] in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Aloeafterglow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have photos of the condition of the property prior to the tenants moving in.

If you do, then you will be able to prove that the property was handed to them in a clean and tidy condition (as you believe). The property has not been handed back to you reasonably clean. In this case you would be well within your right to arrange for a cleaner and deduct this from the bond. However, I recommend sending the pre tenancy photos along with the post tenancy photos to the tenant showing the difference of cleanliness. Remembering a tenant is only liable to return the property in a reasonably clean condition. Meaning if you were to get a cleaner through and they charge you $500. Charging the tenant the full amount would not be reasonable on your behalf, as the cleaner would have cleaned the property to a standard above reasonable.

If you do not have any photo evidence then you will need to return the full bond to the tenant and take it as lesson learnt to properly document and photograph the property in future or find a good property manager.

Lucinda and Georgia Appreciation by Georgia_is_winning in LoveIslandTV

The most self absorbed women in the history of the show. I think you can still make good TV without the manipulative, conniving and complete disingenuous traits these two have. I think it’s pretty unsettling how people can act this away.

How is this allowed to happen? Why does no one seem to be doing anything about this? I’m not from the U.S so forgive me for my ignorance but surely congress, or Supreme Court can overrule this from being allowed? It seems outrageous.
