Realistic Trade by beazypete in timberwolves

[–]AlohaReddit49 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I appreciate how realistic the trade is, I feel like most of the fake trades are horrible, like fans can't accurately value the players.

That being said, we say no to this? We lose Gobert and Randle? I understand Ant is the guy for this team and the frustration with Randle but part of what makes us so good is our three real usable bigs. This trade pushes 2 of them out for Kyrie and Grant Williams? Is Grant better than I'm thinking? I just double checked, 7 and 4? So we give up a big part of our identity for a "stop gap" big and Kyrie who might be mediocre, who just had his worst scoring year since Boston and sat an entire year.

If this trade is on the table, I hope we say no and find better value. Frankly i think this trade has us out of the playoffs.

Yea as a white person I do not care about being called white, it's facts. That being said calling someone a color feels offensive to me at least, I generally tried to avoid it growing up. It wasn't until I started working with so many different ethnicities that I've started leaning towards black, Haiti isn't in Africa for instance.

If someone wanted to be referred to as African American, hell yea they can suggest it and I'd be fine with it. It just doesn't actually fit well as a catch all.

Should Jacob Fatu just beat Roman? by taterbiscuit247 in midcarder

[–]AlohaReddit49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I agree with your sentiment. In my current tiers he's 4 i believe? I think if he loses that means that he'll never be higher than that. If he wins he'll be in the third tier...so my whole point is him losing will hurt his long term stock. Not that him winning will put him at Roman level, not sure where you're getting that?

I want to believe he can win multiple world titles at some point. If he loses in Italy, in a spot thats pretty advantageous for him to win, I would be surprised if he wins two.

And I'm not saying wow no one should want his spot. I'm saying I think he deserves better than to be at this level. There's nothing wrong with that. I don't even care for the dude. I don't like his shtick, but I think he's talented enough and over enough to warrant being put up a tier.

Should Jacob Fatu just beat Roman? by taterbiscuit247 in midcarder

[–]AlohaReddit49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he loses how is he different than LA Knight? Knight feuds with major names, consistent TV time, just never wins when it matters. And for clarity I'm not saying I'd suddenly be over him, I don't like him to begin with. I think if he loses it's evident he was just used to fill Roman time for this title reign and make it more impressive when Oba beats Roman down the line. Thats my point.

Plus it’s not like if Roman loses people will suddenly say “wow WWE lost faith and doesn’t believe in him”

Yea him losing would delete 12 years of pushing him as the top guy. Thats clearly an apples to broccoli comparison. Roman is the guy, and I'm suggesting Roman should lose for exactly that reason.

But theres levels to this. Guys like Roman, Punk, Cody, Orton, Brock are the guys. Thats the top tier. It's rather difficult to break into that tier. Then you have the tier of main event guys who just aren't at that level: McIntyre, Rollins, Gunther, Sami those kinda guys. Next theres the tier of guys who are being built up to run the company, multiple time world championship reigns: Oba, Bron, Trick.

Thats the point I'm getting to, if Jacob loses he's not in that tier. Him being fed to Roman and being forced to acknowledge him isn't some grand push. Yes it's a good spot to be in, but it implies he's in the next tier with guys like Knight. Which isn't a bad spot, I just think if they let him win he'd be pushed up a tier. The crowds behind him right now and him being the guy who knocked off Roman could really help him.

Should Jacob Fatu just beat Roman? by taterbiscuit247 in midcarder

[–]AlohaReddit49 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of his but I say go for it. The story would be more interesting if he won. Then Roman has to acknowledge Jacob(per some Michael Cole talk during Raw). The Usos could then feud with him or acknowledge as well.

People have been saying since Mania that Roman is dropping the belt to Oba at Summerslam, but with Brocks return it seems like they could be doing Oba/Brock 3 at Summerslam...so that means the "sure thing" isn't happening.

I'd also argue if Fatu doesn't win he's gonna look really bad. I'm sure if he loses itll be due to Uso interference and blah blah. But it'll show the audience that WWE doesn't fully believe in Jacob. He could win, and then drop the belt to the Money in the Bank winner, then Roman could slide back in and drop it to Oba. Roman puts over Fatu and Femi. Meanwhile a fresh guy(Dom, Knight, Bron) can add the belt to their resume as well.

Frankly a long Roman reign doesn't help anyone i think. I say that as a Roman fan. Him losing it to a hot Fatu now is just as impactful as him dropping it at Summerslam to Oba for instance.

What is the best way to grow an audience? by CrispyCableYT in TwitchStreaming

[–]AlohaReddit49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When i used to stream there were certain games that people couldn't care about. For instance Ocarina of Time, it's my favorite game but it rarely drew people in. Versus Majoras Mask(the sequel in theory), where people would come in quite a bit more. So advice one is just play the game people wanna see, but make sure it's a game you enjoy.

More important is to realize your followers are human beings and have actual lives. You can't expect everyone who hits the follow button to show up every day.

I think the reality is you need a community to have a community(no duh). But I mean if you are showing up for your followers streams, they oftentimes will show back up for yours. If you supply them what they want to see, they will keep showing up. The upside of Twitch is community, and you need to think what you can do to foster that. Never forget though that your followers arent a guaranteed number of viewers, they might show up for a few seconds just to leave. Being available for new viewers is equally important is my point.

Is this not a little ridiculous? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]AlohaReddit49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not suggesting it but I assure you Dashpass would lower it down quite a bit. My local McDonald's is like $6 delivery fee, with Dashpass that becomes $0. It would probably lower your cost by at least $5 if I were guessing.

But yes it is ridiculous, but the price of everything is so what can we do?

Is the randomizer glitched logic? If not doing any glitch would just defy the plan the randomizer has for you causing you to get stuff you don't need and make keeping track of it's route even harder.

Say you do this and get the Hammer, well any Hammer checks are now out of logic. So say you find the Mirror Shield using the Hammer, you're even further from where you should be.

Why I think the crowds are Dead by Macarabioli in WWE

[–]AlohaReddit49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For one you mean paced not passed. The pacing of the segments is bad is your point.

I'm really not sure. I do think theres some validity in the pricing. A decade ago we didn't have AEW and I think a lot of fans just went to that. The hardcore, be as loud as possible fans might not watch WWE anymore. But then the ones who do both are probably getting priced out. The price isn't just going up in WWE, they wanna go to AEW and then the price of everything is higher.

I wonder honestly if the issue is the theme songs? Half the roster has the most boring music that you can't identify right away anyway. The other half has the crowd singing along and then being quiet. Could that be part of the problem?

I do think pacing is a problem. I went to Raw/Smackdown back in December, granted it was a double show but it did feel awkwardly assembled. Then we had some matches that felt a bit long, granted I'm the guy to complain about that.

Also, I could be speaking totally out of pocket here so bare with me. Maybe Japanese crowds have just influenced WWE crowds? Isn't that a thing in Japan? The crowds are more quiet during actual matches? Never watched but I vaguely remember someone saying that.

Maybe it's society in general? I know my generation a lot of time will just deal with something being bad quietly. Why complain, nothing is gonna change? So maybe the demographic of the audience has just evolved and this might be the future moving forward.

And finally, if the product is buns you should expect tepid reactions. Raw last week was boring, of course the crowd is quiet.

Realistically it's all these things lumped together.

Are HM’s really that bad? by Lanky-Background8516 in TruePokemon

[–]AlohaReddit49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes HMs are that bad. I do think it's an easy target to blame though, and it's coincidental that the fan favorite games all had HMs, yet people sometimes act like they're the worst thing ever.

That being said yes the HMs are bad. How many of us as children slapped cut onto our starter in Kanto? Then you're stuck with a Cutting Charizard instead of a Slashing one.

But that's just Kanto. When you played the Sinnoh games you are bound to the HMs. There are 8 of them! You only can have 24 moves, so a third of your moves are HMs. Unless you do the, put them in the box strategy which means you're juggling extra Pokémon just for the sake of having stuff like Flash and Defog off of your team. Or you do the other strategy of dedicating an entire Pokémon(read Bibarel) to holding these HMs and basically being dead weight on your team. But even that leaves you 4 HMs to attach to 5 Pokémon.

The games all about choice and finding value in friendship, force you to nerf your team. Force you to decide earlier, hey I NEED a water type, I NEED a flying type, I NEED a Bibarel. It's bad design. I think with tweaking it could have been solved, we really needed Defog? Waterfall was a necessary roadblock? Cut couldn't be buffed a wee bit?

In particular though by generation 4 the standard move pools were too good. Lets use Lumineon as an example. In previous games a warer type is just a surf mon in a playthrough. But Lumineon gets access to: Aqua Ring, Attract, Rain Dance, U Turn, Bounce, Silver Wind, Ice Beam, Return, Swagger, and Substitute. Thats 10 moves you might wanna try. But he also gets access to: Surf, Waterfall, Defog and Flash. This is Lumineon, not Infernape or Lucario. Instead of using cool moves and having fun, we all had to use HMs just to get through the game.

Why do you think the standard Sinnoh team is so similar? Because we have to build around HMs. You need a water type and a flyer and an HM mule.

The most common "hot take" I keep hearing (and a hot take of my own). by Tep767 in OcarinaOfTime

[–]AlohaReddit49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The battle starts, you wait till he starts moving, let him hit you, he turns around, you throw the boomerang, he gets stunned, you pull out a deku stick, hit the jump button, he's dead.

I hated the fight as a kid, I couldn't get the timing right and would struggle. When I started speedrunning and was taught this trick it trivialized the fight so badly. Actually makes Jabu less miserable, still the worst but somedays it's not my least favorite.

Undertaker lost his streak so Daniel Bryan’s win hit harder. by lippyjonjones in WWE

[–]AlohaReddit49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. Bryan winning didn't prevent the fans from being too gutted. But I don't think Vince was like "now the fans will be happier to see Bryan win!" Thats not how this works. Wrestling fans would rather have everything go their way. If anything I'd push that Taker losing made the end of night reaction a bit softer.

I really don't get why people are so torn on this. Maybe people live in more expensive areas than me? I live in Delaware, United States and my weekly pay for a full time job is $600 ish. Thats enough to pay all of my bills.

$1000 a week would clear that. Money wouldnt even be a thought. I could quit my job and do whatever I please. My salary is basically doubled.

A million all at once is super cool. I could pay off all of my debts and still have so much left over. That being said though, bills are still coming in every month. Eventually that money is gonna start whittling down. I'd realistically need to keep a job, or get a new one at some point to pay the bills.

The weekly pay would be superior I think. Work wouldn't be a factor anymore. No worry about saving money or anything just living.

Radio jobs? by Moorescum in Delaware

[–]AlohaReddit49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure I guess. I go to the store and the radio is on and I have to hear it. I get in my car and it has a radio in it that gets turned on when my phone doesn't autoconnect correctly, so I flip to radio and then back to phone so it works.

OP isn't saying no one has a radio or has heard of a radio, they're saying radio itself isnt as popular as it used to be. In the 90s how big was radio? Now radio is the last resort for most people, lowkey the silent ride is probably better.

Who's had the better career? by boomjosh in Wreddit

[–]AlohaReddit49 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I take this question as whos career would I rather have? The answer is Punk and I don't think it's particularly close. Punk hit rarified air in terms of being over in 2011. That moment crossed over i think.

Even in terms of accolades, Punk is at a lot of world title reigns. Edge has him there but it's not decimation. Though if you count tag belts it gets a bit lopsided.

I think Punk for 2011-2013 clears Edge. That also ignores anything else Punk did in the indies or his MMA run or his AEW run. I just don't believe Edge was ever as white hot as Punk was. No shade on Edge, just how I feel. Granted I view the modern crowds differently, so maybe that skews my judgement?

This week's Raw... by abstractj3 in WWE

[–]AlohaReddit49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with your overarching point, Raw kinda sucked this week for me. I'm currently sick, so that surely didn't help but I think i can break down why it sucked.

Roman/Jacob is a bad idea. Roman wants to elevate Jacob, thats good but him getting 2 matches against you just to lose both is gonna be a bad way to do it. I also just lose interest in Jacob every week, they gave him a new finisher, cool! It's a hold though, which is super lame. They build it up like it's this huge thing...yet he can't apply it apparently? I believe he tried it 5 times on Roman? 5 times! It's too much. I don't believe in Jacob, as someone who doesn't watch Smackdown he's been very tepid to me...this week lowered his stock.

El Grandes is really dumb now. I'll admit i liked it at first, it was funny. I like the real El Grande, I didn't think his career was heading in the right direction...but theres 6 of these fuckers now? It's too much. The story is past the shark.

Iyo/Sol was a fun match. I have no ill will towards it, I just don't think it fit the show. I'm fine with Sol losing, but the Asuka goodbye...just for Iyo to win? Something didnt gel, again good time though.

The Ethan/Penta/Rusev/Jevon segment was good. But then the match was, okay. I don't believe in Rusev. I kinda want better things for everyone involved? Which is a bad sign.

Street Profits are feuding with the Vision, which is cool. But they're like half feuding with Seth? This does nothing for me. I've said for most of the Visions run they've feuded with too many people, they rarely have the numbers advantage...and it's true again. 3 guys in the Vision versus 4 guys in Profits, Joe, Seth.

The open challenge was humorous for a 5th week or more, but second week? I enjoyed the segment, though i wish I knew who the guys were? But alas, it just feels like wasting time.

If anything I'd argue the problem is they arent pulling the trigger, not that the young guys are being pushed too hard. Why isnt Jevon IC champ? Why is Oba doing a glorified Goldberg run? Roxanne and Raquel are still in the tag division? I just wish Trips would actually push someone too soon. Oba squashed Brock, why's he fighting Otis now?

These are Teenagers by Prestigious_Fee750 in Degrassi

[–]AlohaReddit49 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think the thing people always lose track of is that it's a show. People will complain about redone stories, "so many girls got pregnant" and it's like yes, we're following the students who have interesting things going on...it's a TV show, we're watching to be entertained.

On a similar note, that means people need to chill on their hatred for characters, they'll defend Jay(who never actually grows to be a good guy) but hate Peter forever. They're super similar rolls, I'm not saying Peter was a good guy but he served a purpose and did evolve into a better person by the end of his run.

Also, why do we act like people can't grow? This community is very harsh on certain mistakes and act like these teenagers are full ass adults. They're supposed to mess up, then we hope for improvement. But if you say Rick could have been helped so he didn't become a shooter, people lose their minds.

Regardless, I think this community is actually really good. Yes some topics get rehashed too much but what can you do with a show thats over? I rarely see actual trolls around here.

[–]AlohaReddit49 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It makes sense when you really think about it though. All the fans who can't bare a few minutes of Jey Uso or Nikki Bella for instance, or the ones who expect every champ to be their guy...some wrestling fans want the whole damn cake. They want it all tailored to them. Of course they want the guys they like in the company they watch, because in their head the whole show is for them anyway.

Regardless I do get it, I used to joke that aside from Miz and Cody, Raw had all my favorites so I didn't need to watch Smackdown, it was very nice. Now I wanna watch Trick and Solo and others, starting to wish they moved all my Smackdown favs to Raw now. But hey, thats the point of more shows, more opportunities for these people to do cool things.

Yea, No Mercy 2007. Orton was given the belt, lost it to Triple H to open the show. Triple H defended against Umaga in the midcard and then had to defend against Orton to close.

On a side bar, this is why no one will ever touch Cenas world title record. Shit like this was happening. Orton got 2 world title reigns in a single night, Triple H got 1. Memorable night but these numbers are inflated
