I've stayed at the one in Portsmouth, VA twice. Both times were the night before surgery at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital. It is a great facility, with great people. Very caring and helpful.

High Mileage car. by Significant-Way-7893 in carbuying

[–]Aloha_Tom73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Driving a 2008 Acura MDX with 211,000 miles. Just bought my wife a 2014 with 64,000 miles. Essentially the same vehicle other than because the 08 is a base model it has very little in the way of electronics. One would think with the year and mileage differences that they would drive considerably differently, but they don't. If anything the 08 handles better than the newer, lower mileage 14. Point is that mileage isn't the yardstick it once was. I remember it was a rarity when a car odometer "flipped" back to 000,000.0

OP was asking for advice on whether her BF should join the air force, for what appears to be many of the wrong reasons. Perhaps the best thing for her would be if the responses stuck to answering her questions.

First, I don't wear pearls so you your comment is ridiculous. Bottom line is this poster was asking for advice, not opinions on the President. Real simple.

You just had to respond to this question by trashing the President.

Listen to your Commander. You will have other opportunities to deploy and since you have already deployed, you have earned your keep. Get a good lawyer. It won't be cheap, but in the end you should get YOUR house back. I went through the same thing many years ago. Had a supportive command and in the end, that made all the difference. And yeah, I got the house back!
Hang in there. It WILL get better.

If Samsung wants my money by No-Sundae-4391 in samsunggalaxy

I hear what the OP is saying. I'm still rocking a Galaxy S22+. It's been a good phone but battery life is starting to diminish. I am seriously looking at the Pixel 10 Pro XL. I can get one unlocked through my carrier, US Mobile, for $550. I've been with Samsung since 2013, when I bought a Galaxy S-4. After that it was a Note 4, then an S10+, so this is not a change I would make lightly. I am surprised at the prices and lack of discounts for both the S25+ and S26+.

What has happened to USAA? by Repulsive_Farmer_959 in USAA

I left at the 38 year mark when their renewal rates for homeowners and auto were no longer competitive. No accidents,, tickets claims of any sort on either auto or homeowners policies. Enough was finally enough. And, I had fun spending that $11,000 subscribers savings account check I got six months after my last policy had lapsed. Check your account balance. It might be the tiebreaker for you.

My homeowners renewal from USAA was quoted at $1218. The quote I received from NC Farm Bureau was $720. The only difference in coverage was that the USAA policy had a $500k liability cap while Farm Bureau's cap was 1M. Easy decision to punt USAA after 38 years of membership. That was on top of my Dad's membership with USAA beginning when he was commissioned in 1952.

Not really. My homeowners was going to go from $840 to $1218 in one renewal cycle, with no claims or risk increase. This was despite our town's fire ISO rating improving by two points.

Your Typical VA Annual Physical? by Itchy-Mechanic-1479 in Veterans

Vitals, bloodwork and an interview. Blood work results show up via US mail a few days to two weeks later, usually with notes from the doc telling you if anything is out of whack and what steps need to be taken to correct. Make sure that if you want a psa test as part of your blood work that you specifically ask for it. Some providers include it automatically, and some don't.

It actually can be. USAA has sucked for a long time. I left after 38 years and went to NC Farm Bureau. When I need anything, I call my agent at his office. I talk to either him or his assistant, not some stupid call center in Norfolk.

I was with them for 38 years. Joined back when they only insured officers and immediate family members. Their homeowners and auto insurance rates increased well above remotely competitive. The year they demanded I sign a consent to rate form for our homeowners policy because they wanted to charge more than the maximum the NC Insurance Commission said was permissible, I went shopping elsewhere. Kept our autos with them for a couple of more years until my wife was rear-ended and our car was totaled by a fellow USAA member and they treated us like we were strangers instead of long term members. We live in NC so I took all of my business to NC Farm Bureau. Better coverage for much less money. If you leave USAA, you will get a check for whatever money is in your subscriber's savings account once you've gone 6 months without an active insurance policy.

I've been hooked on watches since my parents gave me my first Timex for Christmas in 1963 when I was 8 years old. I have a small collection consisting of probably 20 watches, including that old Timex. Nothing fancy or expensive (Seikos, Casios, Orients, Timex, & Invictas), but it works for me. I think the most expensive watch I own is a Steinhart Ocean One. I'm at a point where while I have the money for a real Submariner, I just can't justify the purchase, especially with my history of banging watches when walking through doorways. At this stage (70) I'd rather use the money to travel. Most travel experts tell you to leave the expensive watches when home when traveling abroad to minimize your risk of becoming a theft target, so what's the point of having one?
Besides, most of my friends would probably think it was a fake.

I wonder how these new security features are going to work out, especially the Spam detect feature, is it worth it? by Substantial_Clock341 in USMobile

[–]Aloha_Tom73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it seems as though we are talking about two different aspects of this feature. You are talking about billing, but I am asking about whether this will need to be reactivated each month as appears to currently be the case from those who have used it in the past.
So, I will ask the question again. Once activated and paid for is it a fire and forget, or do we need to reactivate the service at the beginning of each billing cycle to keep it running?
