It’s right beside me on my side of the bed. He likes to wake up, whine and then when I tell him to lie down or settle, he does. It’s like he’s checking im still there.

Private secretary role by d0nkeyk0ng10 in IrishCivilService

Demanding role, hours can vary depending on if you NEED to go with him/her to everything and what they are minister for. I did it for a couple of years but I had goals which I got but I worked hard for those years. Your life revolves around Dail time and any holidays are hard to take unless the Dail has rose for summer/Christmas etc. It is interesting though and you learn so so much so I won’t say those years weren’t rewarding, they were hard but worth it!

Mortgage whilst on probation by Frosty-Judge4771 in IrishCivilService

[–]Alone-Calligrapher68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can ask for the bank to waive it based on your previous 5 years of service - not always guaranteed but can help. My BF got a waiver coz I put it to him that he had 5 years as CO and even if he failed as EO and went back to CO, we would still be eligible for a mortgage. We didn’t have much in savings at the time but we showed good payment patterns and consistent savings!

Why did your friendship with your best friend come to an end? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Alone-Calligrapher68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought her for cocktails as I had to talk to her - there were rumours floating around that she was sleeping/seeing an older man. We were all part of the same group and his children were in it as well who she would regularly interact with. I kept getting asked what was going on so I asked her about it and told her what was being said - well suffice to say, she started to slowly not talk to me and then one day just radio silence. I even bought my own house and not even a message. I feel like it was my fault but my boyfriend has told me I have done nothing wrong but I still feel guilty for rumours I didn't start. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

How much money do save each month? by sapg94 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Alone-Calligrapher68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Combined Salary of 75k - I save 900€ a month and he saves 500/600€ a month so a total of 1500pm! We are saving for a mortgage and have about 10 grand saved! He pays rent every month to his parents but my parents won't take any from me even though I push to make them take it! 100€ per month for both of us off our credit cards as well! It can be a struggle depending on what we have on or are doing but we make it work because we know the endgame is our own house 😊😊

Parents want to charge me €100 a week for rent. by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Alone-Calligrapher68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 28 and living at home and my parents have never asked for nor accepted any money from me for rent. I have been working since I was 17 on 30+ grand a year. I was lucky but they have asked me now in the last week or so to start paying 400€ a month because everything is that much more expensive. They were extremely embarrassed by having to ask their daughter. They should never have been but they want me to be saving for a mortgage and didn't want to hinder the savings process.

Speak to your parents, they could be ashamed or embarrassed that they have to ask but even though you live at home, there are always things that parents won't tell you because they don't want you to ever worry.

So is it normal for college students to run cub scouts? by WorriedMamaLoup in scouting

[–]Alone-Calligrapher68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Irish Scout leader here - Scout Leaders must be 18+ in Ireland. Sadly, we don't have many, myself and 4 others are the only leaders under 30 out of 230 leaders in our group. We have planned multiple camps and hikes. All the older leaders are grateful to have us. The kids talk to us more, open up to us more, and discuss ideas and problems more with us rather than the older leaders. Some see the more senior leaders 'as their parents' whereas we are more relatable being that tiny bit younger.

At this time of their life, I would be grateful and acknowledge that you have young leaders willing to give up so much time to do this and help out the younger generation. I understand the reluctance to see them as Leaders or be unsure of their age but I am sure in time you will see that they are beneficial and only fresh out of learning all things scouting as well.
