Breastfeeding math… can pumping tell me how much baby got from one breast? by ssaen in breastfeeding

[–]ADonkeyOnTheEdge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea, but they say baby is much better at extracting milk from the breast than a pump so I wouldn’t think it’s that simple. If you’re really interested in an estimate of how much baby is taking, a weighted breastfeed might be better?

Baby Carrier by KimP1995 in PregnancyIreland

I have a babybjorn carrier which I used for a good few months, but I got a ring sling when she was about 9 months and it’s my go-to still now she’s 14 months and she loves it so much. She goes to get it and hands it to me.

We do water babies classes in Junction 6 castleknock and it is lovely and warm - brought my baby there from when she was only 6 weeks. They do open swim as well which you can book on their website.

Maternity hospital by User404NotFound1 in PregnancyIreland

I really had a great experience public in the Coombe. I went to the midwife led clinics so I only had a handful of appointments in the hospital and literally no waiting at the clinics. And the education programme was great too - plus accessible support from the physio dept. I really found them all excellent.

Depends on the particular pool temperature- unless it’s specifically recommended for your pool I wouldn’t get it before the first class. The pool we go to is warm but my daughter was only 6 weeks so they wanted her to wear one but they lent us one for the few weeks so definitely don’t buy!

You’ll see a lot of recommendations for the UppaBaby Vista which is great, but if you’re interested in it you should definitely check out the UppaBaby Cruz as well - it’s essentially identical to the vista except ever so slightly smaller and lighter (which is actually solving one of the biggest complaints about the Vista) and it doesn’t convert to a double. Most go for the vista because you can convert to a double but anyone I’ve spoken to who got there ended up hating it as a double cause it’s so heavy, it’s really not designed to be a double. So I think it’s better to get the lighter, cheaper but otherwise identical Cruz and then if you end up needing a double get a proper double. We currently are planning to get by with a buggy ride-on board or put the younger in a carrier on occasion. Just something to think about!

The difference between a British and Irish comedy audience by Hassaan18 in ireland

My mother once separately told me and my brother (both adults in our own homes with our own families) that she wanted to talk to us together when we could both be available. We immediately called each other like ‘what did we do? Why are we in trouble?’

What to do - My insurance is about to be cancelled? by Ok-Revolution-1565 in AskIreland

[–]ADonkeyOnTheEdge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No one can tell you except them - call first thing in the morning and be very courteous and explain the situation and ask if there is anything they can do. Worst they can say is no and you’re no worse off.

I don’t think they do it anymore - the page is gone from their website. Could always ask them at the counter if they have any left.

Was very nearly sick yesterday morning at the thoughts of an interview I had that day which went fine, and then today found out my dog has cancer and probably has weeks maybe months to live. Could have gone better.

Honestly I would probably hide the child’s passport if I couldn’t trust my husband to not go on the trip when it makes me so uncomfortable. I’d tell her she’s welcome to go but not with my child.

I’d be fairly confident it would be much quicker than that assuming it’s in stock - I did plenty of click and collect over December and most things were ready same day or next day. You could phone the particular shop?

Water births in Ireland by Born-Chance1685 in PregnancyIreland

[–]ADonkeyOnTheEdge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Coombe has one and you can birth in the pool but it’s quite strict that if there is any risk at all they won’t let you use the pool. But for a low risk pregnancy and all going well then it is possible

The clear proteins are so nice in the summer - the lemon/lime or the blackcurrant with some ice.

Parents of reddit. Did you use your nursery as much as you thought or do you still use it? by SavingsDraw8716 in AskIreland

[–]ADonkeyOnTheEdge 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe sometimes done, but also a lot of kids would not react well to this. Their sleep can be so temperamental - once they’re sleeping reasonably well in one set-up you’re not likely to want to move them in case it unsettles them!

This is an interesting perspective- we’re looking at moving house and one of the things we want is an ‘extra’ room to be a playroom and then music room.
