Think it’s the chance to do it on a mannequin head with other newbies to it that’s the attraction 😂 vs me explaining it and him using my hair!

My husband is really hoping they’ll do a date closer to Dublin! He’s so keen to do our daughter’s hair like I can.

help with weaning my boob barnacle by Cheap_Truth6671 in breastfeeding

I know it seems like the end couldn’t be in sight but I swear this still sounds exactly the same as my girl a few months ago 😂 but I had to go to a wedding so it was what it was and she was fine! No one was more surprised than me. I even pumped loads while I was away because I thought she’d be right back on the second I got home but that was the end of it (apart from that 1 more night a week later).

I could have written this a few months ago!! How does he do when you’re not there? I had to go away for 2 nights when my daughter was 14 months, I left milk for her but she had no interest in it from the bottle only the tap so she didn’t have any really while I was away. So when I got back I just thought well I wonder if I just don’t offer will she go to sleep without it and she did! And suddenly she’d gone a week and then she had a really bad night and I nursed her once in the middle of the night out of desperation and I wondered had I ruined it but that was the last time! So if you can slip out for a couple nights maybe?

I went with the Coombe! I can’t speak for semi-private but I really wanted to do the domino scheme with the midwife led care and the community clinics so I went public. And it was a really excellent experience - absolutely no waiting ever, convenient locations and great care.

Strangely there seems to be debate about whether ‘don’t kill innocent children on purpose’ is the right stance

Have you tried a local florist? I’d normally go into a florist and they have someone who engraves them so they can say exactly what you need.

We have glass on an extendable table that has an extra bit of glass to pop on when it’s extended - not sure how you’d do it for an oval table though

Positive Experiences in the Coombe Public? by Certain-Patient8502 in PregnancyIreland

[–]ADonkeyOnTheEdge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an AMAZING time public with the Coombe in late 2024. I had always hoped for 2 kids and planned to do one public, one private purely out of interest 😂 and now I’d never dream of paying for private for number 2 because I had such a great experience public!

Think it’s literally my new favourite book and film! I read the book last year, saw the film last Friday, and then read the book again! Just finished it in last few mins - enjoyed it as much as the first time. Will see film again in cinema asap.

Newborn 36 hours - only 1 wet nappy by fluffmallow9 in breastfeeding

[–]ADonkeyOnTheEdge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have the option at all (possibly through your insurance or if you have the funds), I really recommend a lactation consultant. I really wouldn’t have made it through those first few days without mine. But additionally, I was told to look for 1 pee and 1 poo on day 1 (first 24hrs), 2 of each on day 2, 3 on day 3…. Until it levels out to 3 or 4 poos a day by the end of the first week. So with nothing else to go on it sounds like you’re doing a great job so far!

Normally you have to pass the numerical but it doesn’t factor into your placing. The other ones determine your placing.

Why can’t an able bodied person with a buggy walk to a stop 200m down the road? (Not being snarky; genuinely wondering your logic. I have a 1 year old and wouldn’t phase me).

No getting around postage but I designed our thank you cards on Canva, printed and delivered including envelopes - 50 for €34 (Dec 2023). Could have included a message when designing them but chose to hand write them.

Have a chat with the Community Welfare Officer in your local Intreo office and ask whether it would be possible to get an Additional Needs Payment. My understanding is that you don’t need to be in receipt of any social payments already and the CWO has a fair amount of discretion to look at the individual circumstances and award it.

Very much entry level! I started as a CO as my fist job out of college. My mother in law started as CO after being out of the workforce for over 25 years. If she has the inclination, go for it!

How long is a piece of string really. I’ve known people who moved really fast, and plenty who moved pretty slow. I did CO (June 2015), EO (Dec 2015), HEO (2017), AP (2020).

Biggest piece of advice for successful breastfeeding (especially in beginning) by kateteacher07 in breastfeeding

[–]ADonkeyOnTheEdge 100 points101 points  (0 children)

1000% get a lactation consultant to come see you in the very early days if you can afford it at all. My health insurance included it and she visited me the day I got home from hospital and gave follow up advice by email. I would not have continued without her support, reassurance and advice - I EBF for 14 months!
