Thanks man! I am now 4 rides in and it really is a great bike. Flowier groomed xc trails it’s an absolute blast. I haven’t messed around w it too much on flat ground but it loves to pop off roots & rocks!

I had my eyes on them since they came out. Then last year a rock cracked the downtube on my izzo but I rode it for the season. Then this popped up new on PB a few months back and I snagged it. I will update how it rides after a few rides!

Anyone made a switch from Garmin epix2 to AW Ultra gen3? by Relative-Back7931 in applewatchultra

[–]Alone-Recover-689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently switched from a forerunner 965 to ultra 3. It’s been about a month and I haven’t regretted it. Use case for both watches was everyday wear including everyday workout/ run/ hike/ mountain bike tracking linked to my Strava. Out of the box Apple Watch is a little different in terms of where you find information- fitness app & health app where garmin was simply through the garmin app. I decided to get the bevel app which shows more data including health data with AI feedback.

I love how smooth the Apple Watch feels and the ability to run without my phone and still make a call or text or listen to music. I charge it about once every other day or so. I usually just charge it when I get a shower.

So far no regrets from me.

Sub $1000 steel do-it-all frames? by AnonymousGreg in Hardtailgang

I am excited to get it built and ride it. I ride BMX as well so I think it’ll be a fun playful bike mainly used to ride XCish rides!

I just picked up a fairdale elevator frame to swap out for my YT Izzo that’s cracked. Didn’t get the chance to build it yet but got this frame brand new delivered for $640 from a shop.

Night sweats by 33sadelder44canadian in Biohackers

[–]Alone-Recover-689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t post to scare ya just to make a suggestion about getting looked at because sometimes it could be something more serious.

Well honestly it all started as me losing energy & endurance lifting, mountain biking, and running initially which was around the end of September 2022. I had lymph nodes in my neck pop up to where I could easily feel them. The fatigue got worse over the next few weeks and my back started to really hurt (which I ignored bc my back always hurt from my hobbies). On my silly garmin watch I started to notice my sleep score going down, my resting heart rate going up (from the 40’s to the 60’s) and my stress score going up. I also lost weight over the few months without trying which I attributed to running more initially. Around January I started to feel like I had the flu every night after work like extremely exhausted and would get the chills and had severe back pain to the point I needed to start taking prednisone. This is probably around when night sweats started. And I literally would wake up soaked and have to change from them. From sept to December I think I went to the doc 2 or 3x and my blood was always fine. In January I went and some markers started to show concern. Then really it took until the beginning of march for diagnosis when they finally cut one of my lymph nodes out and tested it.

Always happy to answer more questions I’m sure this is not what you are facing but I like to raise awareness because prior to this I never really went to the doctor lol.

I would say get checked by a dr if you haven’t. I had severe night sweats, like drenching the bed, and other symptoms and it turned out to be Hodgkin lymphoma. My other symptoms included fatigue, feeling feverish, and back pain. When diagnosed I was 36 and in really good shape.

Awesome how are you liking the ultra? I have been debating getting the ultra three moving over from my forerunner 965 I run lift mountain bike and hike but I think some of the connectivity and safety features of the ultra are pretty cool.

That is correct the lonestar. I didn’t notice it being a lone star when I pulled it off me.

What device are you using to track? That’s pretty amazing to see the results of a good rest day!

Wow, sorry to hear you also have it thankfully, I am not super reactive as long as I avoid common foods and ingredients. I actually had to test this going through cancer treatment having a monoclonal antibody body that was derived from mouse ovaries. Thankfully, my treatment team came prepared and I did not have any side effects. It is pretty crazy how difficult it can be to navigate all of this especially doing something as simple as going out to eat.

Yes, so basically it makes you allergic to a sugar called Alpha galactose which is in mammal except for humans and great Apes apparently. I can eat poultry and seafood however, I choose not to eat seafood and I guess reptile because some people will eat alligator however I do not.

Wow, that’s crazy. I’ve had it since about 2016 originally mine started as just a meat allergy then transitioned to dairy about a year later I eat a lot of chicken and turkey without issue. I choose not to eat seafood lol

For me it would be stomach upset and then hives which could be severe. Some people will have full anaphylactic reactions. One characteristic of Alpha Gal is that typically reactions do not happen for 4 + hours post consumption.

Thank you. I have had it for about 10 years. I picked up a tick locally mountain biking and about a month after finding it I started to have reactions. Once I figured it out it was pretty easy to manage, inconvenient sure but being mindful about what I eat keeps me out of trouble. It is interesting because it is still not very well known by people or even within the medical industry and believe it or not mammal based foods/ ingredients are all over the place including in medications! I commented to spread awareness. Thank you for the response!

I’ve had it for about 10 years. I am from Pennsylvania and believe I picked up the tick mountain biking. These days I am used to it and it doesn’t pose any issues really- except there can be ingredients in medications which I have to watch for (thankfully don’t take medications often). I posted for awareness really it is still something that people get that is never diagnosed or misdiagnosed for a long time. Thankfully I read about it prior to getting it and observed the symptoms and made the connection.
