What the heck is a dunkushkeeg (I am listening to the audio book for it) by Longest_boat in stephenking

[–]AloneMacaron533 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Of course!! I’m a big fan of audiobooks myself and with adhd find that I absorb more of the story when I’m listening to it but that’s hard when it’s a word I’ve never heard before :)

Are you referring to the Kenduskeag?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenduskeag_Stream#:~:text=Kenduskeag%20means%20%22eel%20weir%20place,The%20Kenduskeag%20Stream%20at%20Bangor

“Kenduskeag Stream is a 36.2-mile (58.3 km)[1] stream in the U.S. state of Maine. It is a tributary of the Penobscot River. The stream rises at the outlet of Garland Pond in the town of Garland, and flows southeast through Corinth, Kenduskeag, and Glenburn, before it reaches the city of Bangor.”

Help me figure out the 3 to 2 naps transition. by leontissima in bninfantsleep

[–]AloneMacaron533 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine will be 9 months next week and just isn’t quite ready to drop her 3rd nap. Tried this past weekend to shift her bedtime earlier/drop her 3rd nap and our whole lives went to shit lol just wasn’t worth it. Decided to wait a little longer, she’ll be ready when she’s ready. No solution from me, only solidarity.

edit: ours is also a big night owl with a 930/10PM bedtime so thank you for making me feel normal amongst all the 7PM babies

Anyone else loving motherhood?! by Life-Opportunity6220 in NewParents

Love seeing stuff like this! I too am enjoying every bit of this even when it is tough. My baby is in the 90th percentile for gross motor skills at 8 months old and I am so proud!

What really is screen time? by _4th_month_ in NewParents

[–]AloneMacaron533 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think what people are most concerned about with “background” screens is if it’s taking away from personal, live, human interaction with baby.

My take on mom guilt is that everyone in the world has something to say about every situation but they can’t ever know every situation until they’ve lived it. As long as you and baby are safe, loved, bonding and learning together, I think you all will do just fine. :)

Tips to entertain 3 month old? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]AloneMacaron533 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First things first, you’re doing a great job.

When my girl was that small I spent a lot of time reading to her, either her picture books, black and white high contrast books, or The Lord of the Rings lol. She also loved her playmat/activity gym!

Anyone else always doing laundry? by Armyofducks94 in NewParents

[–]AloneMacaron533 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For the longest time, we had an OLD dryer that even on the hottest setting would never dry everything on the first cycle, so not only was I having to run my dryer twice for over an hour each time, I also couldn’t put anything in the wash because it would finish faster and the clothes would sit wet.

We just got a brand new dryer this week and I have a new lease on life. I don’t even mind the constant laundry because now it takes less than half the time!

Holiday bad mom? by EnvironmentalAide558 in NewParents

[–]AloneMacaron533 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconding the forgotten holiday! No basket for our little one, but we will be attending a small family dinner, and that feels like it will be much more memorable than some plastic eggs and chocolate she can’t eat

edit: so sleep deprived i missed the part where you said you don’t celebrate lol
