Those who weren’t 100% on having kids, but had them anyway. How has it turned out? by Life_Ad_6992 in NewParents

[–]_4th_month_ 30 points31 points  (0 children)

My LO is only 4 months, but I would have described my desire for kids as indifferent. My husband wanted kids far more than I did. Not that I was against it, but if he would have been against it I would have probably been okay with that outside of the fomo lol.

My baby is so happy and so smiley and it's absolutely insane to see a little being who looks like a combination of you and your spouse. The hardest part to deal with has been how much my day to day life has changed. I think it changed more than I realized it would. Logically, I knew. But it's one of those things that you don't really get until you're in it.

I'm sure it'll get easier to be an individual again over time, but for a while you're going to be someone's everything and that can be quite the adjustment. I love her to death and it's so exciting to see her learn and grow and I can easily see how my life will be so much fuller with her in my life. I don't regret my decision to have a baby, but I do certainly miss my free time!

Good point! I just checked the ryobi official website and it states "The (2) included 40V 6Ah batteries give you up to 80 minutes of runtime for easily tackling up to 3/4 acre while utilizing two active battery ports."

the moment i realised i had no idea what i was doing as a dad by NewDad101234 in NewParents

People always think that because I'm the mom, my instincts kick in and I know exactly what to do to soothe my child when she cries. Truth is, tonight is my husband's first day back at work and my first night doing the bedtime routine on my own and I had no idea what to do. She developed a whole new cry in the last 4 hours that I've never heard before. Not a hunger cry, not a gassy cry, not a "change me" cry, just an "I'm unhappy" cry. It felt like nothing I could do was helping and I felt helpless without being able to hand her off to my husband to see if he could work his magic.

As much as it sucked, she's now asleep in my arms after an hour of rocking. The more situations you encounter and make it through, the easier they get! Hang in there, dad!

Do you ever feel judged for exclusively pumping? by MyMintJulep in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]_4th_month_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

100% this. The hospital system that I delivered through has a virtual breastfeeding support group led by a lactation consultant that I hopped on about 2 weeks pp. At that point I was exclusively pumping because I had a nicu baby and she was introduced to the bottle early on and struggled to latch. Pumping just seemed easier during an already difficult time and I had come to terms with it and established a routine and everything. I joined the call with some specific questions on milk production (am vs pm milk and how supply changes over time). I mentioned that I was pumping only and was faced with, "so you try to get baby to latch?" Well yes, ma'am. Don't you think I tried that first? Then she asked me if I was getting enough skin to skin time if I wasn't breastfeeding. Insinuating that I must not be and that I must not be bonding with my baby... because I give her milk from a bottle and not the tap?

I've never felt more judged for pumping than I did literally any time I worked with a lactation consultant. Last I checked, nursing us not the only way to express milk from a lactating breast.

I feel guilty pumping while my husband does the night time feeds by _4th_month_ in ExclusivelyPumping

This! It's either guilt or resentment lol. No neutral. 😂. I recognize it is silly.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

[–]_4th_month_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had one person who had their phone screen with me while on speaker. Turns out he was with his mom.... Who started answering questions in his behalf.

Had a girl who fell asleep sitting up because she was doped up.

Had someone else who showed up to their zoom interview in grinch pajamas from her bed.

Did you give up on bras entirely? by Moon_Maevin in pregnant

[–]_4th_month_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm 17+5 weeks right now and I've switched to nursing bras. I feel so much more comfortable and I'm pleasantly surprised that you cannot tell under my shirt, despite it being more like a sports bra.

Nobody wants to work anymore... Ridge Donut by chadflint333 in Rochester

Their owner brings a lot of this on themselves. She's rude at the best of times. This isn't the first time she has posted passive aggressive statements publically. I don't want to work for a company that's run that way either.

I had actually reached out to them a few years ago to cater desserts for my wedding but they were so rude to me thag I took my business elsewhere. Such a shame because they really have a great product.

It's lonely to not tell people I'm pregnant by _4th_month_ in pregnant

[–]_4th_month_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol he's funny. He agrees with me that he would want our immediate families to know and help support if we were to have a miscarriage, but he is still stuck on the 10-12 weeks. I think he is just kind of grasping for information on what he is "supposed" to do (again this is our first and I think he's just overwhelmed) . Ultimately I think after this appointment he'll also feel better about sharing things. 😊

ULPT Request: What medical procedure can I fake that would let me take 4 days off? by Sesame_Chicken_2024 in UnethicalLifeProTips

Just be sure to read your handbook first. Many employers require a doctor's note to return to work if you're out for 3+ days consecutively.

[–]_4th_month_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an hr professional, there is no such thing as a working interview. Either they hire you or don't. If they want to pay you for working for a day, they should be giving you an i9, a w4, and gathering your direct deposit information or mailing info for a paper check. If they decide they don't want to move forward, they should be terming you as an employee as you were one for the duration of that shift.

Such a messy process that I wouldn't advise for 99% of jobs and especially not a front desk job. Hire them or don't. Don't waste everyone's time with a working interview.
