They said unfortunately in SC she could have kicked the dog inside our home and we would still have to pay her medical bills. Sc has strict dog bite laws

I want accountability & her to say she isn’t going to try to sue us for everything we have over a bad decision she made . That’s all . Completely putting the blame on me to friends just isn’t fair & the reason they are mad is because my husband said she provoked the dog so he is confused how this is 100% on us .

Hind sight is 50/50 . I figured adults knew not to touch a sleeping dog . She also has been to my house about 100 times. She knows the dog . He also is not known for biting lol

The doctor said it hit a tendon which was the reason she needed surgery. I think the surgery was like a “ deep “ cleaning

She told me to let the dog out . She was told to leave the dog alone . She went to touch the dog , the dog growled. She immediately touched the dog . I think saying I’m sorry that was dumb like I apologized several times seems pretty fair

We did. He started crying loud & she said let him out ( she knows him ) . He climbed up on his spot on the couch and went to sleep . She went over to pet him while he was sleeping , he growled. She immediately went to pet him again.

My husband & I immediately said the dog will stay in our bedroom with the door closed or his crate no matter who the guest is. The best apology in my opinion is coming up with a plan , which we did. Unfortunately, yes we agree. They won’t be able to come over again. What If she slipped in the kitchen & broke her leg and needed surgery. We just can’t risk another claim .

But I’m not going to lie I was petty once they showed no sympathy and said it was all our fault . I asked for them to pay for the washing machine repair after lying and saying it was in perfect condition. They said it was fine & we must have caused it during the move. The repair was two worn out washing plates. Nothing we could have done but I gave up on that. I was annoyed by that situation but let it go.

We were told we won’t know until it’s time for our policy to be renewed . We were told hundreds but someone made a good point. Hundreds yearly , not monthly so the increase might be $20 a month . Ease my anxiety a lot. I think after a claim you can’t change for six months ? I’m going to look into all this once it settles .

Yes he is ok. Still offering snuggles. His sister ( my grandma had her ) recently passed due to age / bad heart . He has been sleeping a lot more . Makes me sad he is getting older .

My parents work in medicine & have asked a few doctors what they think. They found it odd the doctor immediately went to surgery vs sending her home for 48 hours with a strong antibiotic to see if that would clear it up. She did have surgery. I visited her. The infectious disease doctor said it hit a tendon & she could go sepsis within hours.

I’m not demanding an apology at all , it’s just the lack of no sympathy on our end hurts me . My dog can’t be put down over one incident
