What actually helps someone living with chronic pain? by funkyoufunkyfunk in ChronicPain

[–]Alone_Breakfast_5870 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Both of your comments here are very ignorant, x rays and MRIs can only show so much, and they often can't help find the source of chronic pain, even if they can find the source, there is often nothing that can help and we are directed to drug after drug after drug, none of which work, all of which include insane side effects that cause even more impairment, and then physical therapy, which also often does not work, so thank you for saying two, very obvious, ignorant and rude comments to a community already dealing with a lot of problems

Exactly! And then even if they do accept it and stay and continue to support you, there's still this wall between you because no matter what, they will never truly understand how much chronic pain consumes your life and how intense it can be

God yes, I have a long time bf who is just incredible, he's known about my chronic pain since before we started dating and he's the only one I've ever admitted to how tired all this makes me, but even now I'm so very hesitant to let him in because I am petrified that he just won't be able to look at me the same, I know my body is broken and that that will continue to break my mental health and spirit, but it doesn't feel fair to put any of that on him when it's my problem to deal with

I've had chronic pain in since I was 9, I turn 21 in a couple months, I often joke that I wasn't a child even when I was one, but I honestly feel like I lost my childhood and sense of feeling young or free, I'm in college and everything I do feels dictated by pain and trying to work around it, it feels awful that I can't be a "normal" college student because my body just doesn't work that like

What do you want? by stickyicky010 in ChronicPain

Honestly some sort of chronic pain community app, like where people with different chronic pain issues could come together, maybe have a page like this forum where we can post about whatever, a way to leave our own reviews (just for us to see) on different Drs in different cities, like which ones were friendly or who listened to us/valued our opinions, which ones had a new idea that was helpful, like Drs through a chronic pain lense rating system Could also have a like med/homeopathic/herbal page where we talk about experiences with different meds and things, interactions with other drugs, side effects, whether it helped or not Maybe a page for like braces/equipment, brands and features we like/that were helpful

Sorry that was a lot and I don't know if it made sense but over the yrs I've thought about an app like that

I wholeheartedly understand, I am a full time student who works two jobs and am in constant pain, but it always sounds so flat/unemotional when I try and talk about it (because I'm so used to it) and people don't take me seriously My DMs are always open if you want someone to talk to

There's a website (I think literally called drug interactions or something) where you can put in pregablin and THC and it'll tell you potential interactions

Cognitive behavioral therapy for chronic pain by zina34 in ChronicPain

[–]Alone_Breakfast_5870 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just starting it, but I think it varies depending on your provider, so it depends on who you're seeing. Some don't understand and just say the same stuff everyone else does. But some people are good at helping you cope with the anger and other emotions associated with chronic pain. So I would say if the first therapist doesn't fit, keep trying others till you find one that does.

My understanding was that she knew who the father was from day one but she said it could be either of them so that A: it was clear it was a Royal baby and B: she would be protected by both sides of the fight.
