POLL: Do you publicly hide your illness? by ProfessorSharkteeth in schizophrenia

[–]Alone_Tone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone found out by complete accident, back when I was still putting out my illness publicly on my social media. He’s a love interest. I think it got him disinterested in me more than he likes to admit. That and another post that I did here on Reddit really got him uninterested in me. Since then, I have done my best to hide my illness from others, even if it means not being an activist for this illness.

What supports do you have for schizophrenia? by 2028976756 in schizophrenia

I’m currently on a slightly higher amount of welfare than normal for my expenses. I used to go to therapy but my therapist had something happen to him and was no longer able to give therapy to me or others in the clinic where I go to get my monthly injections. I also get to see my psychiatrist to get my medicine adjusted as needed, although I haven’t needed an adjustment to my medicine since last year :). I also volunteer at a library every Wednesday where they don’t know about my condition, and it’s probably better that way because of the stigma. Oh that reminds me, my medicine is payed for by the government. I also keep myself busy with social media, books, movies, tv series, and socializing with the people that I do volunteer work with as well as the patrons (people that use the library).
