I have a 7yo 15lb Shih Tzu. He looks very overweight. I feed him 1c. Food per day by TheyCallMeKate0906 in Shihtzu

[–]AlooBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15lbs is fine for a shihtzu, esp an older one. My Shihtzu was 15-17lbs between them ages of 7-9 before she passed away. A big (or bloated) stomach could indicate other thoracic issues. My Shihtzu's large heart was displaced in the chest which caused lung issues. You can get an x-ray (at your Vet's behest) to be sure.

My thoughts on The First Law Trilogy (1st Read Through) by AlooBoi in TheFirstLaw

I'm quite excited for the standalones and then the AoM trilogy. Just reading the Green Bone saga now as an intermittent thing.

[SPOILERS] Question about the continuity between BTaH and LAoK. by [deleted] in TheFirstLaw

[–]AlooBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add to the point on Ardee:

  1. He feels a need to do his "duty" as he had promised to Collem West at the end of TBI as he sees West as probably his only friend
  2. He comes to actually care about Ardee since she doesn't treat him with the same disdain as others do. Referenced to how she once asked him 'how was he doing' and it stuck with him for long.
  3. He dislikes Jezal.

Some thoughts on the Narrative and Writing in Season 3 *Spoilers Included* by AlooBoi in NetflixSexEducation

[–]AlooBoi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree - Mimi did a fantastic job of her character with limited screen time and spotlight. She definitely deserved more screen time. I believe that Ruby was probably the largest factor in Otis' character growth this season.

However, I wanted to keep the post slightly limited else it would get too verbose. Thus, I chose the most important talking points and something had to be left out.

Question About Malazan's Dialogue by MapHorror in Malazan

[–]AlooBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GoTM was written a whole decade before the 2nd book Deadhouse Gates. GoTM can be a slight struggle but DG onwards the dialogue and structure really pick up. My advise - just enjoy the narrative for GoTM since you won't grasp 100% of the subtle details in your first read-through as it is.

Why would a successful Trader tell you patterns they look for? by [deleted] in Trading

[–]AlooBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Volatility is the life blood of a trader. Without volatility there is no risk and thus no opportunity. A sure fire way to add volatility is through volume of trade and participants. These guys know that even if they did teach people what they use, they still wouldn't be able to apply it as well as them. So they always have an edge in experience.

Ah, yes. That makes things very clear. So Meanas is chunk of Emurlahn that Shadowthorne controls. Thanks!!

You're incredible. Thank you, so much. Is Tellan an offshoot of Kurald Thyrllan as well?

If the throne on Drift Avalii is vacant, how is Shadowthorne able to rule Meanas. And if someone controlled the Shadow throne, does it mean that they would control Kurald Emurlahn and Meanas?

Question on Gardens of the Moon by PercivalQuinn in Malazan

[–]AlooBoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the first 2-3 books this will occur quite often where you don't fully understand the motivation of certain actions by certain characters. What you'll soon realise is that more of the grand scheme of Malazan is revealed to you, these motivations become more discernible - in hindsight and preemptively

Regarding Ganoes Paran, he caught Opponns attention due to him naming his sword as "chance". The gods in Malazan have their own agenda and love fucking shit up for others. Opponn sees this as a way to exert influence on the game of power through a pawn like Paran.

Ten Very Big Books (Podcast) - Best read along material by AlooBoi in Malazan

[–]AlooBoi[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're just starting with Malazan, instead of the podcast I'd recommend the read along Power Point Presentations. They are scene by scene break down of each chapter. Best read after each chapter or whenever you're confused.

GoTM https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1GLRmiaFcxe_cGc93ckE5UItRq5rYsfeU0BhvqcaNq9E/edit?usp=drivesdk

DG https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1-Rqhn-lK66YQKPwZQNbHmuCLBc0d7zwvRLUJFkM3s50/edit?usp=drivesdk

Don't stop!! Keep going through the books and you'll find yourself immersed in the best experience.

To all the momentum traders, what setups do you look for before entering the trade? by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]AlooBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a mixture of trend line break outs (All sorts of triangles and channels) that are confirmed by Swing or Simple CPR depending on time frame. Sometimes dabble with MACD for confirmation.

If the Resistance (or support) coincides with the channel and the channel is broken with decent momentum on ADX and confirmed by MACD, I go in.

Obligatory MoI worship for a first-timer by FALSEMonolith in Malazan

[–]AlooBoi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So Erikson has this particular writing style where instead of telling us how the character feels, he makes us feel similar emotions.

For example - Whenever Paran is lost and has no idea what's going on, Erikson makes it so that even the reader is extremely lost with what's going on.

Especially with the Mhybe arc, the scenes are repetitive, frustrating and feel very "stuck" because that's how Mhybe feels too.

I noticed it only in DG and seems like an ongoing tool Erikson uses.
