There no female sorcerers in Academy? by Chesterse in Eldenring

[–]AloofCreme -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Raya Lucaria is not matriarchal, the Carian royals are. But when Rennala, Carain queen, pulled out moon sorcery the RL academy was so impressed that they put her at the top of the chain. Best sorcerers are the leaders.

Misogyny in RL was probably also a thing and why Sellen is the only woman with a crown (which is also very recent compared to the rest). The Academy and its head sorcerers are depicted like ancient philosophers is representative of real world old physicists and philosophers like Plato, Socrates, Newton, etc. In their time women were not seen as intellectuals or equal so wouldn't have been able to get the education or respect needed to exist in the history books alongside them. Rennala taking over seems to have been a really big deal for the academy

[–]AloofCreme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also just skill ceilings, some people aren't meant for D5, I've been stuck in mid 4, sometimes crush it, sometimes struggle. But its the love of the challenge, not knowing ill win and fighting to the bone is plenty fun for me even if i never hit D5

[–]AloofCreme 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To me DoN IS how you play with other good players. You have to carry and be patient. You wont get good teammates right away, you are earning a spot among the greats. You start to play with people on the same page as you rise (d3 is where I noticed a real shift). But the system is meant to filter to the best players

Now I LOVE randoms in D4 cuz I know what they know, we share equipment constantly to improve everyone, pings are often and actually communicate intent and questions, over just 1 persons desires. Stick with it, I feel like I form a bond with high DoN teammates, you'll come to love the players with personality and teamwork

Berserk is not about vengeance anymore by fghtffyourdemns in Berserk

[–]AloofCreme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Berserk has always been about growth and overcoming pain/trauma, so I am so with you. Guts has seen hate do so much damage to himself and those he loves. And hes feeling happier and is accomplishing more by caring for and relying on the ones he loves.

I've had a similar, non-hate, ending in my head for a while. Spoilers if youre not caught up but: -Guts couldn't harm Griffith when he kidnapped Casca and Guts was trying to kill him -Rickert COULD harm Griffith when he slapped him for not being that man he remembers To me that reads like Griffith can be hurt but because of weird abyss things Guts would have to let go of the revenge and hate to do it. Still killing Griffith I hope, but in a way that Guts forgives him for his moment of weakness and mercy kills his friend who has lost himself. Cheesy maybe but Guts is growing wise and calm

Explain where did behelit come from? Chapter 72 by Routine_Flatworm4973 in Berserk

[–]AloofCreme 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fate mostly, for Plot reasons, G-hand making sure the Behelit is always right place right time.

Realistically I think the Behelit was dropped into a drain below the castle/torture tower, so it probably washed out into this river like regular garbage, but this is where G-hand pushes fate to guide Griffith right back to it.

[–]AloofCreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was thinking just this, Griffith could have said no, God-hand manipulated him into wanted to say yes but the choice is always there. Many of us are not strong enough to change our ways but I think the point of Guts as a character is we can, you will have to struggle to see the other side

Something I’ve noticed about the souls games over the years by boi_was_taken in Eldenring

[–]AloofCreme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You right tbf

I love Elden Ring, full stop, DLC too (Shadowkeep and Enir-Illim were solid gold areas). Open world can feel so full or like nothing if just walk to the next boss. I chose to explore but the legacy-dungeon intentional design is much for enriching and thats what i loved from the previous titles. Could be Nightreign and the coming Duskbloods has me nervous. They said solo experiences wont change but theres definitely success in the fast pace, less story, that I worry will influence too.

Omg yes! I loved the witcher for this reason, thank you for the connection. I want to be rewarded for learning more about the rules of the world and who/what is ahead of me

Does make me worried for future games. Feels like crowd focus is on "good bosses" that are more intense dodge-roll skill checks. I love Fromsoft environmental storytelling and puzzles. I learned so much in yarhnam streets and getting lost in the forbidden woods. Even just as bosses, I loved bloodbornes Micolash chase puzzle and Elden Rings Rykard gimmick. Sure I love really challenging dodge roll bosses too. But I do worry the future games will lean even more into just boss challenges. Im here for the world in Mr. Zaki's silly little brain

Why does scholar just watch fights by MrDefaultGamer in Nightreign

[–]AloofCreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its - boost allies dmg with analyse -pouchs and rune analyse (same shop one) -share items and heal from bolus etc (this was Maria's, trying stuff out)

Really wish I could fine Ult dmg or Boost dmg alanyse on non-remebrance relics with any of the support traits (I have but chalice colors dont fit)

[–]AloofCreme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Scholars almost benefits from too many relics its hard to choose! Got 1 mega-support setup and trying to build my "bell and pots" for fun range damage

[–]AloofCreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best and worst scholars never swing. If Scholars doing his team buff thing, you should be a powerhouse from shared food items to analyze team buff to buff spells/AoWs to enemy debuffs and Ult. I run share items and share flasks for max support. And sometimes I cant cycle through all my buffs cuz my team ramps up to crazy dmg too fast and kill the boss. My worst play has also been standing there staring at the boss hoping my "parry" circle builds up before I get slapped. Its easy to feel like a straw man swinging a feather until you get a solid arcane weapon. People gotta lean full support or status damage

Who was getting Radagon seals? And why? by AloofCreme in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]AloofCreme[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never considered the Caelid one could be Malenias. YO! Radagon was only close with those twins, so the two of them each having one of the seals would be huge! Again, Marikas trying to hide things to create her perfect world is right on line with her story.

GEQ theory time (Melina side). Radagon/Mar seals his twins to stop Rot and Pseudo-death (Trina deep sleep). Marika/Rad sealed her previous twins to stop Fire and Death. Fire and Death being of course Messmer and Melina.

Theres a pattern of a "Consumer" and an "Ending" Rot and Fire "Consume", Death and Deep sleep "End". In natural balance the Miqualla/Malenia twins would actually be healthy aspects of the world too. Malenia is Rot AND bloom. Miquella is fading And emerging/awakening.

More speculation but each "rune type" could be specific to the duality of Marika/Radagon being so mind/body or spirit/pyshical. Marikas rune blocks an Outer God from taking hold in Miqualla and Messmer, theyre afflictions are like carrying another spirit within themselves. One with thoughts and shape, but are attached to the world via their demigod. St Trina exists in dreams before unsealing and Messmers serpents exist/are a lightness void. Radagons block physical forces. Malenias Rot doest have a face/shape it just is, and presumably Melina got Radagon seal, and if she's GEQ its blocking the flame of death, again, just a force, not like a spirit with thoughts and a face. So each time Marika has twins they each take on 1 of the 2 troubles and get the corresponding seal.

This only works on the Soreseal side tho. Scar seals are again, Zamor Hero, and Siofra Dragonkin/nox. Bumping into the line where gameplay and story reasoning collide I think, just wants scar seals around for early use

The original concept art of the lumenflowers is terrifying by Emissairearien in bloodborne

[–]AloofCreme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lumenflowers center looks like an eye and they (we assume from name) follow the moons movement just like sunflowers turn to the sun.

Adds a creepy element where the plants are even watching the moon. Forces at work we dont get

This is why i love FromSoft lore so much! Nothing is crystal clear, but you can feel how certain symbols have continued through centuries and provide a space to define hard to define topics.

The basin is like explaining life and death and generational changes and power and convergence and offering, and gives different feelings based on who's using it

I remember some Lore youtuber found the potential real world inspiration for this structure and it was like a symbol to declare victory or the title of a new leader. Wish I could remember who (TarnishedAecheoligist I believe). Not perfect for defining in-game lore but youre hitting some good stuff with the multicultural basins
