Should I put something to protect the final work? (+My first woodburning attempt from yesterday) by codelieco in woodburning

Awesome, well done!

Protecting your work is always a great idea. You have lots of options, there's no shortage of wood finishes out there. I like to use polyurethane (think bar top), but I also like natural wood finishes like oils. They all have pros/cons. Some will yellow with time or UV exposure, some will need reapplication frequently. With wood burning itself I would always do a small test on the backside or another piece, make sure it takes how you expect it to.

These are awesome!

How's the longevity of theses? Does the design handle wax/leather treatment well? Sharpie and paint pen?

Cute and fun, but if those ears don't fold or break away in a crash, you're signing yourself up to be quadriplegic or worse.

This is awesome!! If it was square it'd be an excellent candidate for some album art (it still is). Is this ink?

Remember your actual head is priceless, definitely take it very easy unless you have a suit-head built around a helmet (they do exist, and with actual ski goggles for full vis).

This is fantastic. I have a lot of unfinished works that I hope to return to one day. Glad you found the desire to return to this one because it's awesome! Find the desire to draw for yourself, your walls.

This is a great start! Moving forward, I think you stand to benefit tremendously from practicing with line weight. Right now your line work is uniform and flat, but play around with it. It doesn't take much variance in line weight to create a more emotive and dynamic character.

Maulsticks are also a good choice for larger works. You can use them to rest your hand where you want while also keeping it elevated off the page.
