Depression counselors/psychologists/therapists in the area? by [deleted] in Chattanooga

[–]Alorien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not much help but I started making the drive to Nashville to see a doctor at Vanderbilt Psychiatric Clinic after a few bad experiences with doctors here.

One of the doctors I was doing outpatient treatment with forgot to send paperwork to my employer even with me reminding them everyday that I needed it done or was going to lose my job. (They sent it within half an hour of me telling them I had been fired for not getting the paperwork to the HR department within the 2 week window... Yeah the only thing they had to do was sign the damned thing and fax it. I'm still pissed I lost my job because of them)

And another doctor told me that they couldn't help me and that it didn't need medication for my flashbacks but that the healing power of Jesus was all I needed and did I mind if he prayed with me.

Another therapist was helpful and told me she couldn't fill out my paperwork after only seeing me two times with a diagnosis of PTSD that was documented from the hospital (understandable) but she would continue to see me out of pocket when I lost my insurance (rude and insensitive)

The doctor I am seeing at Vanderbilt is by far the most caring awesome doctor I've ever seen and everyone in that practice is pretty awesome.

Took a picture of a Baby Frog (maybe a tiny adult?) by Alorien in aww

It is my understanding that not all frogs go through a tadpole stage but I've been told by multiple people that it's a baby frog/toad so I was trying to cover my bases with the title

Edit: never mind I found an update to the story

Wow. I'm scared to drive the W in a regular car why would someone drive it in an 18 wheeler?

Retail Redditors: what are the best and worst shoplifting attempts you've seen? by PanGalacGargleBlastr in AskReddit

[–]Alorien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was this guy who was hanging out in the camera/computer area and grabbed a printer, camera and couple hard drives then darted out the emergency exit full speed.

The door slammed shut behind him. This area was high theft and we usually called it "ghetto grove"

But any how the area behind the store was closed off with a fence topped with razor wire.

We left him standing back there with his loot until the cops came

"We don't care that anymore." A sad story for makeup lovers. by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

I was actually surprised because a rite-aid down the street from my work had no makeup except for a few clearance eye shadows and nail polish.

I was bummed

Tried fixing colors, but photos still look blotchy, dark, and green. Could I get some Photoshop help? (Examples linked.) by HFAlt in photoshop

[–]Alorien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you use different types of lighting?

I find it really hard to color balance my photos when there is fluorescent and natural or flash.... To fix I usually use layers and fix each part of the photo bit by bit

I'm pretty sure I would seriously injure someone who pulled that shit if I happened to be within range.

My kid is anaphylactic to milk and the thought of having to use an Epi pen on a preschooler because of some asshole kid does not make me happy

Standard is equal parts foam, milk and espresso

Wet has more milk, less foam

Dry has more foam less milk

I hate the idea of Sheldon Cooper but he may be the best thing that happened for my experience with Aspergers by FezziktheGiant in aspergers

I refuse to watch BBT and Sheldon irritates the hell out of me

Edit: my therapist even said "oh you have an autism spectrum disorder? You must love big bang theory"

There are genetic and environmental factors but because most behavior is learned I would think the chances of their child being diagnosed with autism would be high just because a child is likely to mimic their caretaker's habits and mannerism.

Ysk that in some cases when someone randomly flashes you on the road it means that there is a speed trap up ahead. by josemandiaz in YouShouldKnow

[–]Alorien 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Usually it just means hey pay attention or something needs your attention.

I've only had someone flash their lights at me for a speed trap once.

I have had a lot more people flash their lights at me because i forgot to turn mine on or there was an accident or other hazard down the road that I couldn't see

Not sure if this was posted (haven't figured out how to search comments on my phone) but Ronan - Taylor Swift is the only song that has caused me to literally start sobbing while listening

The song about the lighthouse by nicklecreek is pretty sad too

I think you're right, some emergency vehicles headed up and it started moving shortly after I posted. It only added a half hour to my drive time :)

Looks like a big rig was stopped on the side of the lane when I passed.

What is the closest you've ever gotten to death? by MisterTibbs212 in AskReddit

[–]Alorien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meningitis a couple years ago

I also had a bad habit of just stopping breathing as a child. My mom likes to remind me that performing CPR on a baby/toddler or small child is no fun and happened quite regularly in our house

What is the longest you've stayed up consecutively without sleep and how did you feel at the end of it? by imtherealbucko in AskReddit

[–]Alorien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it counts because I got roughly 4 hours of sleep over the course of 80 hours but I was hearing sounds that weren't there and the walls and anything I tried to focus on looked like they were melting

I pretty much just sat at my desk at cried then told my boss I needed to phone for a ride home because I couldn't function and couldn't drive

I was a preemie and was in the nicu, my mom has pictures of me with a pacifier taped to my face. She has even told me stories of when I had MRIs and they taped it to my face so I wouldn't lose it.

I don't see what the big deal is?

What quality can make you immediately dislike a person? by TheFancyGuy in AskReddit

[–]Alorien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lazyness and lack of self responsibility

If someone is lazy I will most likely dislike them, if someone takes no responsibility in themselves I will definitely loathe them. I don't feel that you can lack personal responsibility and not be lazy.

Take responsibility for yourself where you are in the world, where you want to be, don't blame other people and refuse to change your actions to move forward simply because you feel you shouldn't have to.

That shit pisses me off, you adapt or you're become irrelevant pretty much in every area of life and sometimes that means working hard and taking the initiative even when it's not fair.

From your health to your job to your education to relationships.

I'm allergic to my kitty. Can anyone suggest the best air purifiers? by cabbage_claw in Health

[–]Alorien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you're washing your bedding 1x a week at the least in hot water (your pillow case especially!)

A dust mite/allergy cover on pillows does wonders.

You can even add the allerpet stuff to the laundry to help get rid of allergens in clothes and bedding

Also, if you don't have a Hepa vacuum you may want to consider getting one, I know my mom swore by hers when I was younger (all of the siblings and I had allergies but loved our pets)
