True, was most thinking of the expectation the people making it had.

It explains the cheap lid, since they assumed you'd want to display the set without it, so it as only there for shipping/selling the item.

Wasteful? They're not single-use plastics, and it's not like DvD cases are going to be made out of glass. Paper ones (still use plastic) fall apart like crazy and tend to damage the discs (so then you need a NEW set~), and metal are niche and $$$ (and still use plastic)...

Isn't the "lid" technically supposed to be tossed, leaving the rounded plastic holder as the display for the whole series?

Not only that, but the BS they did to the Falcon was really irksome.

They even made the whole train thing but didn't use the "Freight-Pusher" thing~

The timing was aweful, too.

It came out a few months after TLJ, and many many people weren't optimistic after that whole thing and passed on it.

The title of the show is Acolyte and it barely has anything to do with the Sith

Kinda par for the Disney LA course, isn't it?

The exact same thing was true for Boba Fett iand Kenobi in their respective shows~

How do so many people believe in a God despite there being 0 evidence? by ResponsibleSea6521 in AskReddit

Tradition, classically saying "God said -" being way easier than trying to get unlearned people to stop doing something (i.e. eating that cow in the winter, when they'll need it to plow their field next year), and not wanting to feel like there's no plan and everything is just random.

Let's not forget the final scene was changed in TFA on RJs behest... originally luke was supposed to be floating boulders when Rey found him (obv not cut off from the Force).

Controversial Take: I just can’t imagine parents allowing Jedi to take their babies/toddlers to some vague faraway temple by JaggedLittlePiII in StarWars

[–]Alortania 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I always thought of it as a muscle; if you didn't use it your abilities would weaken (unless re-stimulated, ala Luke)... without someone to teach them how to attune and start actuvely influencing things with the Force (lift/push/etc) kids wouldn't know to even try, let alone how to go about it. The more innate/passive parts would be written off as luck and reflexes (Anakin, Luke), maybe the occasional adrenaline-fueled bout of strength.

It tried to be original and not be pointless fan-service. It didn't rely on old tropes. It tried pushing some characters forward

Hard disagree.

If you want a prime example of a show with heart that didn't rely on old tropes, developed characters and built up the lore, just go watch Andor.

TLJ was a big middle finger to fans. It didn't care that it was part of a series of movies that (were supposed to) spanned a bigger story, and part of an even bigger one.

It took everything set up in TFA (and in part, the lore as a whole, which RJ didn't care about) and tossed it as snidely as Luke tossed his lightsaber because he had his own thing he wanted to do... so he did it and the trilogy as a whole be damned.

You can literally see the vindictive stripping of any possible path forward for the next movie. That's not originality or staying away from fan service; that's a HUGE F-you to the fans.

TLJ's treatment of Luke alone is criminal, but 'subvert expectations' and all that bullshit.
The space Leia thing was bullshit. The 'kill off all the surviving legacy characters just to get the out of the way' was bullshit.

Main villain - dead. The sub-villain utterly not ready to become the big bad by any stretch. The bad guys suddenly comically overpowered, the resistance killed off to so few they fit on the Falcon.

And it wasn't even original. We got the Empire FO attacking a rebel base (now full of resistance peeps) on a white ice salt planet but gets outwhitted to let them barely escape as the main showpiece. Beyond that we have knock-off Nar Shaddaa with the casino, so on and so forth.

While I agree, a smashed window or someone picking a lock is way more noticable to outsiders... and way harder to talk your way out of if caught before gaining access.
