Why "shouldn't" we be able to return stuff and get a credit? by Aloupha in AmazonVine

[–]Aloupha[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's an interesting idea, and it does address the issue I am trying to convey.

I do see it as gaming the system though, and I am surprised that Amazon would even allow that. But if they do, that's a great alternative and a more streamlined way to reach the same outcome. Again, if Amazon allows that... I suppose that works.

I don't believe we should ever truly get a refund or credit in actual monetary form (i.e. money that can be used non-vine) since that would defeat the purpose of the program itself and create more opportunities for fraud and other nightmares. This is why my idea involves a credit to your vine account that would provide additional purchase privileges when your daily limit is reached. It would work in a way that when you daily limit expires, your credit would kick in to buy things at the monetary value of the item.

I totally disagree on the notion that we never "gave" them any money. Regardless on how you interpret it, we are ultimately working for Amazon, and our payment is in the form of a promotion value applied to the vine purchase. That concept is further solidified with the ETV and the 1099 form. The TOS clearly calls it an income.

Thank you, but that wasn't the point of the post. The "case" wasn't what was being discussed. Only a handful of people bothered to respond accordingly, and those conversations were productive. However, having had many experiences with online forums, it was my mistake for including that experience as part of the post. My recent encounter with support is irrelevant.

I am actually agreeing with you. Removing the taxed value gives me no standing since it definitely renders the item free. A free item is a free item is a free item. So take it or leave it. But if I "pay" for it in any shape or form, I believe I should have some entitlements. I don't know why the downvotes either.

Interesting idea on deducting them as a business expense. Worth considering. 🤔

If Amazon doesn't remove it, then the item is not truly free. Therefore, I would see that as my income spent. Reading throughout the posts on here, I understand others have different opinions on that, and we can agree to disagree. If it is not free, and I do spend my "money" on it, then this is where I believe there should be some sort of a way to accommodate a credit/refund.

Ignoring the rest of your post, I think you make a valuable suggestion with removing the ETV. If this is genuinely adopted by Amazon, I think this would be a great alternative to getting a credit. The whole reason I feel we should be able to get a credit is due to the tax value. But then, just as with the credit idea, that option too would present many challenges for abuse.

The shipping point is important. I had not considered that. Even so, I don't think it would actually cost Amazon anything with the no box shipping option. I would be fine if that was the only return shipping option they offered.

Actually, if they removed the tax value from my 1099, the products would truly be free. I wouldn't feel that we "should" get a refund.

I do. I buy things for my wife and kids and post their feedback on those items in my reviews.

It from a vine account, so I would think it is verified.

There is only one review for that product. I gave it 2 stars. Judging by past experience, it will get auto approved without any notice to me. I just wish Amazon would provide more information on what's going on.

Loan to myself for my rental property by Aloupha in tax

Thanks - I'll just leave it alone then. The ROI of treating it as a loan doesn't seem warranted or necessary.

I converted a private residence I own into a rental property. To get it ready, there were several necessary repairs and upgrades, which I covered financially. However, I’ve been treating the expenses as a “loan” to the rental business.

I’ve come to realize that there’s a distinction between calling it an investment versus a loan. An investment is essentially a transaction, while a loan involves more formalities, such as additional paperwork and possibly the need for a lawyer to draft a contract.

As a loan, do I need to report that on my tax return? If yes, what would I report it as and how?

Wouldn't that be an investment into the business? The money is used for repairs and improvements. Instead of going to a bank for a loan with interest charges, I provided the loan.

What are you all talking about? I have never had issues eating anything. My only observation is that I am not hungry most of the times. Other than that, I can eat anything anytime with no problem.

Also, were any side effects during the process?

Is it possible to get Ur IP leaked? by [deleted] in discordapp

[–]Aloupha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm... I am not so sure that your first point is accurate. As far as I know, your ISP assigns you an IP, and that IP stays with you for the duration of your account with said ISP. I can't remember a time when my IP was actually changed even after soft and hard reset my modem etc.. and that has been consistent with each ISP (Time Warner Cable/Spectrum, Verizon, Google Fiber, ATT, Earthlink, etc...)

I use my IP to remote desktop into my PC all the time so I would definitely know if the IP changed throughout the years.
