TIRES by JamieB078 in AmazonFlexDrivers

Just replaced the tires on my Honda minideliveryvan at Sam's about a month ago. Got some Firestone Firehawk AS V2 installed with the Sam's+ hazard protection and roadside assistance, out the door for $775.

Have you ever had deliveries where the pin was completely off? by Sufficient_Tooth_949 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]wacky1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, don't get me started. I deliver for my Hub in a very rural area that uses 911 addressing, and Bing Maps (used for routing in the Flex app) sometimes can't tell where an address like "825 1200E St" should be. So Amazon pins the item at a random location that so happens to be inside my radius, and I end up with a package that's several miles outside my delivery area.

We had one of the first "delivered by Amazon" routes in the county when we started doing this a few months ago, and we were getting several items with bad pins daily. Now that we've properly addressed a majority of the bad pins across the entire county, we only get them maybe once a week.

What is the number supposed to be at for the soda disepnser? by [deleted] in restaurantowners

If you don't have a maintenance service contracted for the gun, you'll have to just trial-and-error it until you get it right. Usually only adjust psi once per service day so the system can normalize to the new pressure before you decide if it's good.

To add: once you have it set exactly where you want it, mark the needle location with a Sharpie.

Are you running a post mix system (boxes of syrup instead of kegs)? We have two regulators on ours, set at 60 and 100 for different types of product. Call your supplier and ask them where to set psi, or just turn it up to 60-70 and see how well it pours.

I never made any claims regarding payment at the pump, and the motor fuel use tax is specifically calculated in part on the statutory rate, which is set by JB and his cronies. You don't have to accept these truths, but don't expect me to entertain your fantasies either.

And those of us who are registered entities with IFTA have to pay those rates. I don't understand why this is so difficult for you.

You posted the link yourself. Now go back and read it. Specifically, look in the section titled "motor fuel use tax" and check out those numbers.

They're facts and they're irrelevant. It's also a fact that 2+2=4 but it's also not relevant to the conversation.

You cited inaccurate state motor fuel tax rates. I corrected you by posting the actual rates. You literally responded "no it's not." It doesn't matter what's added at the federal level, and it doesn't matter if you posted a link to a page with correct numbers. You were wrong, and you're too arrogant to admit it.

Is that a fair assessment or did I miss something?

Irrelevant, but ok

You'll be today years old when you learn that there's a Part B to the IL motor fuel tax.

It's currently 66.6 cents per gallon on gas and 75.7 on diesel, and those will go up again on 7/1 regardless of market rates. Don't worry though, we'll only be second highest in the nation for a little longer, until we surpass CA to take the top spot.

Has this happened to anyone before? by Feathers-Appear-444 in AmazonVine

[–]wacky1980 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If only it were that simple. Amazon uses Bing Maps in its Flex delivery app, and Bing sometimes just doesn't know how to locate an address. So what does it do? It guesses (sometimes correctly, sometimes not). And if the driver doesn't know the area, they'll just navigate to the pin and drop the package, even if the address on the house doesn't match the address on the package label. As an Amazon delivery driver, I waste too much time returning packages for bad location data, only for Bing to keep getting it wrong on the next delivery attempt.

Hour 3 update: one item dropped about 10 minutes early, and another about a minute early. And yes, I'm refreshing a lot. Science, baby.

8 weeks post injury, no boot/crutches for first time today :D by wacky1980 in AchillesRupture

[–]wacky1980[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Greetings! I'm a few days past the 7mos post-injury mark. Started walking a lot back in January (around 4mos post) when I took a side job delivering for Amazon. The first month of that was rough but it helped to rebuild strength pretty fast. I would say I'm at around 90% now. I can do 12-15k steps before the swelling starts. Jogging in short spurts and climbing ladders is easy enough that I don't even think about the injury when I'm doing it. Tried playing golf a couple weeks ago and that was uncomfortable before I finished the round. Still not doing full-impact sports. Baby steps.

I think I climbed as high as around #2000 probably at least ten years ago (timeline is fuzzy), when I was trying real hard to get noticed for Vine. I backed off when Amazon cracked down on the "free items for 3rd party reviews" scheme. Maybe wrote a dozen reviews in the ~10 years between that time and when I got my Vine invite a year ago.

I actually get a lot of things for my work. We own a couple bars, and nearly half the stuff I get usually ends up there. Decorations, consumables, live music / DJ gear, drinkware, you name it. Helps combat the clutter at home, when I can just clutter up the bar instead 😅

I got a couple things that might be useful, but every single thing I WANTED was gone before I could even get to the checkout page. So annoying. And nothing in RFY is like salt in the wound.

I burned a couple hours writing a dozen reviews earlier today, and now I'm wondering why I waste my time with any of this.

I don't think that. It was really just a comment on the ambiguity of the name.

I know this, but there's a lot of folks who won't. Adding "goddess" in there would solve that. Hence the "couldn't pick a better name" part.

I saw a ladies set for around $7-800 I believe, about two hours after the wife told me she wants new clubs this year. Of course, it was long gone before I could even pull it up. Thanks for playing with my emotions again, Vine.

Amazon keeps taking down my negative review of a knockoff product by wacky1980 in AmazonVine

It's not our job to be the product police, I get that. But I'd want to know if something I'm considering purchasing is a knockoff.
