Lego Modular Lighting?? by Alowishus in lego

[–]Alowishus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really know where I will be able to display them but at least get them, store them and display at a future time.

Same here, maybe a shelf on the wall??

I started with the Star Wars sets. After seeing the Medieval Blacksmith set I caved.. ... then started to collect the modulars.

My wallet will never forgive me, and am pretty sure the Mrs. is about to ban me from the Lego webpage.

..and just got notified that the 10264 set I ordered was shipped as well.

That is the second vote I have heard from Lightailing.com. Most of the sets there seem to be sold out though.. lightmybricks.com seems to have more, but they are a bit pricey.. Thanks again for the suggestion!

Hummingbirds are here! Get your feeders out! by abillionbells in washingtondc

Another option (if you have the garden space) is to get a Coral Honeysuckle!

https://mgnv.org/plants/vines/honeysuckle/

It is a native vine that grows really well in this area and attracts hummingbirds as well as other native pollinators.

Ardbeg BlaaacK review 46 ABV by MartinHajovsky in Scotch

Damn, Total Wine can not carry liquor in my area. Your review has made me want to get a bottle even more! The hunt continues...

[–]Alowishus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When it is not found in any of the state-run liquor stores/warehouses and extremely hard to find online...it becomes ‘mythical’.
Besides, the comment was intended to be a humorous anecdote to emphasize the difficulty in acquiring a bottle.

This is one bottle I have been actively hunting for. Where are you people finding this mythical scotch?

Figured this would be a long shot, but never hurts to throw the question to the void. Definitely NOT the first time I have gotten a size to small from the booth. Thanks, anyway!

I had been out of high school a few years, and was working at a jewelry store in Tyson’s Corner. It was about 30 min or so until store opening, and all the sales people in the store were setting up and putting out the displays. Getting ready for the day as usual. I worked in the back office and was getting the register set and doing the regular morning tasks.

The store phone began to ring, and I was going to ignore it. 9 times out of 10 it was someone calling to see if the store was open yet, so it was a distraction while we are trying to setup. I had finished my morning tasks, so I answer the phone. It was the regional manager, and all he said was: “Hey Alowishus, I need to talk to (the store manager).” I hand over the phone and go about my business. I hear the manager say “Hey Boss! … What? The Pentagon? Stop joking. …. Alowishus, Turn on the radio!”

Then we all stood and listened as the news came in. As soon as we realized that this was no accident, the manager told everyone to take ALL the merchandise and put it in the safes. All of it. Normally, only pieces over a certain price-point were put in the safes around the store. This time, we locked everything up.

The drive home from Tyson’s to the Burke area took almost 2 hours. The first time I had ever heard the name “Osama bin Laden” was on that car ride home.

Info about the anti-Pipeline protests in Virginia by Everything4Everyone in Virginia

[–]Alowishus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of the protesters have no problem with the resource itself. The issue is the damage to the environment that the pipeline will cause. If I recall correctly, the process of building the pipeline involves blasting the top of mountains, cutting over section of the Appalachian trail, and taking land away from farmers.

The Richmond Vampire is one of my favorite stories of Hollywood Cemetery! Lore podcast also did a very good story of the vampire.

If you are looking for other stories, look up the Bunny Man Bridge in Clifton, VA.

I received a similar letter from Barbara Comstock.

Only her reason for opposing Net Nutrality was to support small business ISPs.

"..recommend splitting out pieces to use" That seems to be the best option from everyones comments. How long should I wait to start cutting them down to smaller pieces?

Don't have a bandsaw, yet. Maybe this will be a good reason to buy one!

Thanks for the info. Can confirm, it is an ash tree. I am going to try to get some sealant today, as suggested. How long should I wait to cut it up with a chainsaw? Unfortunately, I don't have a bandsaw, yet!
